I had a remarkable amount of success in doing ETC games to level 5. Dude really feels good its a shame hes completely out of the meta because is is countered so hard.

I feel that so many people outside of the top 5% of players think their meta will translate down to us peons.
I get shit when I use Nova even if I kept my team at a consistent 4v5, which Ive figured out is my favorite way to play Nova. Keep em going back to heal, suck down their mana, and if possible have at least 1 dead toon on the opps team at any given moment.
In the end it wasn't even close. We were 2-3 levels ahead most of the game after 13.
This was even a 5-man premade. They just couldn't. Hurt. Us.
and we literally had stuns FOR DAYS
Great games tonight everyone. Even the ones we lost, they were all close!
So, no joke, three tank comps are kinda legit. At least in the Asian scene, anyway. Korea I think? Anyway.
3 tank comps are a goddamn nightmare to fight against. Who do you target? Well, not one of the three tanks, that's dumb. Okay, the healer? Nope, triple tanks won't let you. The... Assassin? NOPE. It is the MOST frustrating sort of comp to fight against.
So I'm actually not surprised to see a 4 tank comp work, and work well.
I had a very interesting Hero League game today. My team drafted Raynor, Zagara, Sonya, Arthas, Uther (me). Enemy team drafted Kael, Jaina, Leoric, Anub'arak, Malfurion. And we were on Spider Queen.
Who do you think would've that game based off comp? Enemy team, right?
NAWWWW, it was us! We got em. I don't know how, but we got em. We actually had pretty damn good engage with Sonya using Leap, and me following with Divine Storm, and Raynor laying down Hyperion. It worked out, somehow, despite my team's weird non-meta picks. I had faith though. Somehow I knew it was gonna work out.
Our Arthas was completely doom and gloom though. At the draft screen I type in "this is good, we have a lot of cc" and he's like "nope they have the better comp gg". We got some really really good ganks in early game, developed a good lead and got ults first, and then we lose one teamfight and he's like "i knew it, gg, this is over". Rinse and repeat every single time. But every single time I kept saying "no look, we're fine, we are not out of this yet". And it's true, we were fine, we were in a good position, and we were ahead.
Eventually our Arthas just straight up devolved into yelling and cursing out teammates and that's when I was like "ok dude, please calm down, it is NOT over and we have NOT lost yet". So yknow, he kept doing his stupid toxic thing, and meanwhile we pushed into their core with a Boss and won. At the very end of the game, I typed out "have faith arthas" because fuck, dude, you can't infight with your team. You just can't. I pretty much had to babysit his toxicity and play cheerleader for my team, because I knew we could win and I would've hated to see that game slip away because morale got low. So every time he said something bad, I would counter with something positive. It worked out in the end, my team never fed into his toxicity because I kept him in check.
Also I was a bomb-ass Uther anyway, dang son look at those awesome heals whoaaaa so good the best at carrying the team ever 8-)
Our Sonya actually deserves a lot of credit, she basically turned every teamfight with Leap. Our Raynor was uh, well. Half the time he was playing his own game called The Adventures of Split-Push Raynor and he'd get caught out and die a lot. The other half of the time he'd stay with us, kind of, but then wander off. Womp womp.
Yeah, I've seen guys like that. Sometimes they complain about how bad the team's doing even while you're winning. I had a weird comp on Mines - Azmodan (me), Murky, Rehgar, Kharazim, Nova. The enemy had a pretty similar weird comp with: Rexxar, Murky, Rehgar, Karazim, Nova. Murky at the beginning said he was only going to push, but since we had a solid push comp, and its Mines, that's probably okay. During the first 2 mines Murky pushes top and I push bottom. As the golems are spawning, I (intentionally) stayed too long and got killed in order to finish off the Keep, and Murky had the fort and some of the keep wall down.
While we lost the mines 30-70 or so both times, they defended so their golem was easily melted by Laser-spec Azmodan and didn't even get the fort down. We're up by 1 level, and have 4 forts left to their 1, and that's when Rehgar decided to start complaining. I assume he was complaining because we lost the mines twice, and didn't bother to look at the actual progress of the game.
Just to finish the story, on the 3rd mines I decide to go in, since I have March of Sin and am now at least a threat in a team fight and I figure they will probably need to leave one or two people out to defend Murky and the 2 camps we took right before the mines. Apparently they didn't, because while we were team fighting in the mines, Murky switched from the top keep and just helped the minions burn the core down.
On a separate note, about Raynor: He's going through a big revival now thanks to the 2-tank meta. Raynor with Seasoned Marksman and Giant Killer absolutely murders tanks. As an added bonus, he's got 2 solid ults to work with.
speaking of raynor he should melt that comp because he melts tanks from a very safe range. they kind of walked into spears and died though
I also beat sylv in a 1v1 lane as sonya..
I usually win that lane when playing Sonya. If you land a spear she basically instantly has to well because you took her down to 20% health with two slams. Then you do it again and she has to back. Sonya is actually the one person I like laning against Sylvanas with (Jaina being the other) because they can force Sylv out of lane with burst before she can wittle you down with Q or W.
I'm totally up for some tank-stacking if anyone wants to. It's been a while since I've busted out Murderadin, I still need to learn Anub proper, and I'm (I think) a pretty good Rexxar. Plus I enjoy the occasional game of never dying as Jojo.
Also it's kinda weird how hard Johanna hard counters people. Like extreme hard counters are rare in HotS, and she has two (ETC and the Butcher).

We had a 4 tank comp of Muradin, ETC, Diablo and Anub Arak once in Hl
so many first pick abathurs on maps that need bodies stoppppppppppp
on blackhearts, the guy picked abathur because the other team first picked illidan and wanted to deny. i'd give the other team illidan+abathur on bb every day and twice on sundays. just go fucking jaina and kill him.
The best games are the ones where you get stomped all game, going 12 kills to their 36, they're knockin' on your keep and your teammates are saying "ggwp"
then you go "fuck that" and zombie-shuffle your way to the DK (no kills needed, just fuckin' SCARE THEM OFF) and just axe their core to death while they are powerless to stop you because you're level 24 (to their 25) and ain't nothing gonna stop a DK at that point.
5 losses in a row. dropped from 11 to 14 already even though i've probably been the best player in every single match. sorry game, I can't override a team who can't draft and a muradin who saves the other team 5 times with haymaker on spider queen while dying 8 times in 16 minutes. and the guy is theoretically rank 3. not sure what you fucking want from me.
edit: 6 losses in a row. rank 15. hey guys maybe we shouldn't do the boss in the 32nd minute when it's 5v5. vvvvvvvv ok whatever and then surprisingly enough we teamwipe and lose. who'd have thought. not me who pinged 5 times.
35-1 until the wipe with 125k damage, next closest on our team was 66k. Pretty much my entire fucking night.
the malf game wasn't great because my team kept running off randomly and leaving me to solo lane against nazeebo, but in every other game i played great and still just got matched with glue eaters who are somehow rank 3-5.
I think I've lost most games of the 10 I've done? Dunno.
Some players out there... boy howdy!
had to report a leoric who wouldn't move out of his ONE spot in front of our towers.
He wasn't even laning. He'd just stay by our towers and use abilities on minions. Every ability.
This was for like the entire game. Even during team fights he'd just sit there and constantly ping asking for help.
I think I reported him 4 times through out the game and afterwards. -_-'

To be perfectly honest, they need to drastically increase the number of games played for placement matches. 20 games is way too short given the sheer number of variables in play. It's misleading and frustrating for people to see themselves placed at a "low" ranking just because they happened to run into some bad luck, or frankly haven't played enough games to really indicate any meaningful skill differentiation (e.g., someone who is new to the game vs. someone who is just terrible). There are literally twice as many heroes as there are placement matches, and you don't need to play the same hero or even the same map more than once in order to get placed.
Not only that, but you are simply not going to get an accurate reflection of your ranking until you play literally hundreds of games in order to both establish a baseline and then cut through all the statistical noise. The vast majority of players are simply not going to hit that number, making the system meaningless except as an arbitrary sorting mechanism (also see: many standardized testing schemes).
People keep conflating rank or MMR with skill, and not only are they fundamentally not the same thing, but that conflation feeds into a lot of negative psychological behaviors. IMHO they would be much better off utilizing a different format entirely rather than attempting to normalize the matchmaking in such a heavy-handed way. Like, there are ways to give people competitive "tryhard" matches without sorting them in an MMR format.
At this point I just treat Ranked matches as a solo-QM queue. If I attempt to approach it at all competitively, the whole thing becomes an exercise in frustration, because there are too many things out of your control in order to win a given game. If I really wanted to be serious about this game, the only way to do that is to play Team League, where you can truly work together with people in a competitive format. Otherwise, I just focus on being positive, calling out good behavior, and improving my own play - all things which I can actually control, and all things which I know I can do better.
QM is showing up to the basketball court and playing whatever game is there: 5-on-5, 3-on-3, H.O.R.S.E., Knockout, Slam Dunk Competition, whatever.
Hero League is showing up to the Y and trying to rotate into a full scrimmage - if you're lucky you get a good team, but really all you care about is getting some playing time in a game-like setting (but the key rule is that everyone gets some play in the rotation). Some people take it more seriously than others, but everyone agrees that the guy who yells and berates his teammates or fouls super hard is being an a-hole.
Team League is where everyone signs up beforehand and people get matching uniforms and there are referees and everything.
no! the whole point of HL is to get rank 1 so you can go "what rank are you guys even? Lol 7? Can't believe I'm getting matched with scrubs." in every game
no I've been with people who take that a step further and either whip out their smartphone/minimize the game to open up hotslogs so they can whine about being matched with people with lower mmr
Had a QM with Psyck0 last night that we won, but man we had a horrible KT. He had 13 deaths by the end and kept trying to start team fights from melee range. And he wouldn't hearth back to heal - one time I told him to heal and he said "we have no support" so I said " go back to base".
Anyway, I feel bad about giving that guy a win - and his frikken MMR is over 3000 according to hotslogs. No idea how he accomplished that. It's also further convincing me that a W/L based MMR is not the right way to calculate rank.
As far as placement matches go, they're a bit silly but I don't really have a problem with them. They don't set your MMR in stone. You can fix it. Slowly. I managed to raise my HL MMR 150 points this past week. Sure, it'll take me a month of that to be where I probably should be but I'll slog it out.

On the flip side I am always afraid to go b to heal, because I tell people when I do and they go right ahead and engage anyway.
It sucks when you are malf and you are losing fights because you can cast one spell every 20 seconds so you go to B then you lose a fight because no one listened when you said you needed like 15 seconds to heal up. It's like, just because they are pushing you do NOT need to engage, running in and dieing will lose you more than waiting a bit then going in 5v5 with towers.
Just checked out hotslogs for the first time in ages. Never uploaded a single game, but it seemed to have most of mine. I only play QM because fighting over who gets what role is the reason i quit LoL (at least summoners rift).
Does anyone know the statistical breakdown they use for their leagues? Like what % of people is in master, diamond, etc? Cuz they had my QM rating in diamond and I was like uhhh... I feel like more of a silver player. At least I always was in league.
Oddly I had the highest winrate in mines. 60% or so. No wonder I never quite empathized with the hate it gets here, haha.

If you measure the worth of a 5 person mosh pit that wipes the enemy team above all maybe.
In reality, you will catch a squishy or two with a sweet mosh when Jo is across the map.
Yes, Jo is great at stopping the "perfect" pit, but those are super rare anyway.
