If Fallout 4 actually asks you if you'd like to pop a magazine or book for a speech interaction if doing so would break a key threshold. Those mags are really frustrating to otherwise use in conversation chains that you haven't memorized, which kind of defeats the point of them.
I tend to savescum before each conversation precisely because of that reason, but yeah, it would be great to NOT have to do that. Not to mention clothing items exist that add stats, too, and it's bad enough carrying those around.
I thought getting the infiltrator from Harkness was nice but one of my scouts actually came back carrying a tuned gatling laser.
Not a single raider has made it past the vault entrance after that.
One of my earlier scouts left the vault with a rusty shotgun and found a missile launcher. She had left in a state of high happiness so her sprite had a manic grin as it ran around hefting the thing the rest of the trip.
Fallout 3 has started ugly for me. I beat the Overseer to death with a baseball bat and alienated my lifelong Vault girlfriend.
Eh, that's a perfectly normal start. Veterans of the series were glad to be able to kill a dick Overseer at the start instead of having to wait to the end of the game.

The clothing I don't mind as much, as that feels more like a choice. "I've traded-off the +2 DT for +5 speech," or whatever.
But the speech mags are only there to boost speech, and speech is only relevant during dialogue, and I can't access my inventory while talking. Like, I can't even see how BethSoft felt that players were supposed to be using these items. Pop them before you think an interaction is going to occur and just hope there's a speech check (and that the mag helps you get there)?

That really was an interesting moment for me.
I had not played a game like Fallout 3 before then so when I killed the overseer, I didn't quite realize I was making a choice to run in there and murder the guy, I just assumed that was what you had to do.
Video games had honed my murderous instincts to a fine point that I couldn't help but be surprised when Amada freaked out about her dad's gray matter being splattered all over the vault walls.
In the wastes, I had rediscovered my virtual humanity...and then subsequently discarded it in later playthroughs when I realized how stupid it is to go on a state wide massacre of bad guys only to let the leader who had caused suffering and war to walk right out of the door in the final quest.
"Get out of here, you scamp! And don't be causing anymore trouble now."

That BethSoft plot structure though.
I'm braced to just grin and bear with it in FO4.
(...Howard, plz, hire good writers. You need the talent, and I know a few who could use the work. )
Was wondering about that. So why do they sell them in bundles of 5 if you can fix them?
Because you may want more than one to cover multiple floors at once.
Yep. I have, well had 3... Working on getting one back! I only bought 1, got two from cards. Its really nice, that way floors where you have needed resources like water an food you can have your mr handy kicking ass. And he's great at putting out fires.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
I only killed the Overseer once and it was an accident. Other then that, I let him live. Of course, I later return to Vault 101 if only to make sure he suffers. The last run through I caused the Vault to explode and later came across the Overseer being mauled by molerats in the Wasteland.
Then I found Amada dead just outside of the smoking ruins of Megaton. Good times.

I love that about these games. There are so many problems you can solve by just hiding and waiting.
It's probably a good reflection of what a hero would be like if he was actually me.
Finding out that I graduated from raider attacks to deathclaw attacks last night was not fun.
I had a few lowbie dwellers get mauled to death but otherwise survived through lots of stim use. One dweller mysteriously disappeared after that first attack though. I'm sure the reasonable explanation is that I must have accidentally removed his grave without noticing but I think it more fitting to imagine that the deathclaws ate him along with his crappy armor and gun.
There's now a goal of trying to make sure the top floors are fortified with high level, high endurance, and well armed dwellers without sacrificing the defenses of the lower levels that still have to deal with mole rats.
I apparently had a dweller dead for like a day, sorry dead guy...
Also someone really hated working in the diner... woops I guess I need to check my things more often.
The killer seems to be if they work in a room they have an abysmal stat for (basically a stat of 1) and have to work alone in it. I had one that hated working in a water room but got at least mildly content when someone else worked that room with him.
Honestly I'm keeping my vault low dweller until I level up and arm up. Like I haven't been breeding vaulties at all, and just hoping the radio will call people up.
I got an objective to get 6 ladies preggers and nope not doing that shit.

Around how many dwellers did you have when they started showing up?
63. I still had been getting raiders before the deathclaws showed up and likewise hadn't done any additional construction so the transition doesn't seem to be some clean switchover based on either. I suspect it may be due to something like total levels of your dwellers.

Yeah, I think it's more to do with average dweller level and not population.
I kind of wish the deathclaws wouldn't just go left to right and just decided to drop to random levels though... :x
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
...BethSoft, for FO4, could you please do something about the pacing so that I can do a couple of runs through the game and not start to feel like I'm just loading areas to run to the next script trigger? I know this is kind of your thing, but man it feels outdated.
Sorry Joanna, I want to bail you out every time, but this is too tedious. I think I'm going to just pretend in future runs that you aren't there.

Okay. Not going to question it, just going to roll with it.
All the stuff out in the wasteland seems to be less deadly than what finds its way into your vault.
Low level dwellers will kill radscorpions with their hands as some radroaches overwhelm their cousins back home.

Also, power armor
I've gotten three suits of it so far

No price is too steep for keeping communism out of the Vault, imho.

I thought they fixed that.
Do you have enough capacity to add more people, including any +N dudes outside your vault?
Have you destroyed the barracks the babies were made in?
Well obviously no one got spayed or neutered if anyone got pregnant!
