Type-0 apparently only supports 720p and 1080p resolutons, in addition to the 30 FPS lock, wee.
Surprisingly the ZombiU PC port has an uncapped framerate and runs well on PC in general it seems. And it supports arbitrary resolutions like most PC games do. Figured that would be FPS locked too. Getting outdone by Ubisoft Square
I am thinking of an excellent candidate to try out Steam refunds on...

I'm not too worried about the port, there will some enterprising folks out there who will clean up some stuff. The resolution thing can probably already be overwritten with that one tool and the 30FPS lock might be harder to fix but is not completely out of the question.
Edit: Also, I picked up Risen 3 today. It's been on my wishlist forever and today is the day I guess. I'm expecting a kind of decent RPG with some glaring issues but some surprising strengths as well.
So apparently Windows 10 can disable pirated games and software. Obviously this isn't the place (nor, indeed, the forum) for a piracy discussion, but Windows 10 has already been criticized - not least in this very thread - for its, how shall we say, rather cavalier approach to privacy. As PC Gamer points out, this is most likely in place for Windows 10 games published by Microsoft (e.g. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Halo Wars 2, and very possibly Rise of the Tomb Raider) and perhaps available through their Windows app store.
Relevant quote, section 7b, "Updates to the Services or Software, and Changes to These Terms."
"We may automatically check your version of the software and download software updates or configuration changes, including those that prevent you from accessing the Services, playing counterfeit games, or using unauthorized hardware peripheral devices. You may also be required to update the software to continue using the Services."
What actually troubles me slightly more is this: "or using unauthorized hardware peripheral devices." That's something that's happened before in the console space, preventing unlicensed third-party peripherals from being used (usually with wording to the effect of "this may BREAK YOUR SYSTEM!!!1!" to scare you into compliance), and Microsoft definitely have previous there. But who the hell gets to call anything you plug into your PC "unauthorized"?
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who finds this (and MS' intentionally vague wording) a little troubling, especially given the existing concerns over privacy and Win10.
I know this is a super late reply but does that mean if someone (unnecessarily) pirates Windows 10 that Windows 10 will then check to see if it is pirated and uninstall itself?

I may have stayed up till midnight to make sure I got the one game on DaxterMax's wishlist before anyone else, himself included. That one unbuyable game sitting on that barren wishlist for so long.
Start wanting more things.
Only three people are ever allowed to touch my computer.
Me, myself, and I.
It's not my computer though. Yet somehow that guy fucking up her computer killed the router in it's entirity.

In the meantime, I hope you can get it sorted quickly, and also can find out who this guy is. For reasons.
So, I took a look at her PC and it looks like the moron just wiped everything. Like nuke from orbit, and didn't bother reinstalling anything. We have the driver disks, but they're not really helping, and it certainly isn't fixing the internet connection.
If anyone seen the movie Looper, well pick a scene where a bounty hunter is waiting for the prisoner to be sent to the past and is shot immediately on arrival.
That about sums up my mental video on reading about wishlist campers.

Because that's meta as fuck.
I was running a pirated copy of Windows 7, and was given an update to Windows 10 like all of the normal users were, so I guess technically that means my install of Windows 10 is pirated.

I've read (but not verified) that only applies to a specific list of Microsoft apps and services, but not to Windows 10 itself.
I think that the internet has been for years on the path to creating what is essentially an electronic Necronomicon: A collection of blasphemous unrealities so perverse that to even glimpse at its contents, if but for a moment, is to irrevocably forfeit a portion of your sanity.

All jokes aside, I remember when Windows 10 first came out and some vague messaging got turned into "Windows 10 is free, even if you're a pirate!" Eventually, MS had to come out and try to quell that misinformation, even though it was great PR, because it wasn't really true. And then news started coming out that Windows 10 is really, REALLY vicious with its copy protection. Right now I deal with a Windows pop up maybe once a day. I remember hearing rumors that W10 would slowly stop working and lose functionality if it was pirated.
I had ads for office pop up repeatedly when I first installed Win10, even over games I was playing in fullscreen. http://i.imgur.com/togkuoM.png You can see it in the bottom right corner.
I had to uninstall the "Get Office" app to get rid of it.
CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.
Microsoft's communication regarding Windows 10 was pretty borked. They released a bunch of information (some of it contradictory) without much explanation. There are still people who think it will have a subscription fee after the first year simply due to Microsoft not being clear about it.
To tie this tangent back in with Steam I'd wager that upgrading to 10 right now isn't really that big of a priority if you aren't a "power user" who is curious or are planning on chasing the DX12 carrot. There have been some extremely mild performance increases for current games with Windows 10, but DirectX 12 won't be supported by many games for some time, and for early games it probably won't really matter unless you're on the bleeding edge hardware wise, and who knows what the performance battle between it and Mantle/Vulkan is going to look like anyway.
I did it because I had a night off and was bored and wanted to see what all of the fuss was about, then almost immediately removed or disabled most of the features that set it aside from Windows 7. My system "feels" snappier but I haven't really seen a change in terms of gameplay performance, but that could be because my hardware is pretty long in the tooth at this point (a hypothetical 5% increase at 60fps is only 3fps, for example).
If you're interested, I'd definitely recommend checking it out. Google "Windows 10 privacy" or whatever and decide which features fall on either side of your personal convenience/security scale and give it a shot. If you install Windows 10 over an older copy of Windows than you have 30 days to revert your system back to the previous version without a hassle (all of your previous settings are saved in a massive backup file named Windows.old, you can delete this to free up space if you're planning on sticking with 10 or if your 30 days have passed), and going back after that is as simple as backing up your stuff and reinstalling the old OS.
You've also got a year to decide, so other than having that little gwx icon in your taskbar you can continue to rock an older version of Windows for like eleven more months if you need some more time to make up your mind or just want to see how things shake out.

Holy shit, the trailer for Zombi looks fantastic.
I suppose that I should get around to playing it on my WiiU at some point. I've only owned for it over a year now... haven't even taken the disk out of the case.
Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!
Another gaming point to note about Windows 10 - and something I alluded to earlier - is that MS will very likely make at least one and probably more of its forthcoming "big" PC game releases Win10 only. So in practical terms that means if you're eyeing up Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Halo Wars 2 or (perhaps most notably) Rise of the Tomb Raider... you might have to.
They have previous when it comes to doing this, remember. And I guess it does make sense from their PoV. Nothing's confirmed yet that I know of, though; I doubt it will be until specs are unveiled closer to the respective releases.
Oohh, dark and stormy night just as Zombi releases.
Somebody tell me it's worth the $20, I'm feeling easily talked into things.
Dark and stormy night? Darkest Dungeon just got put on sale for $13. It's *definitely* worth it. Only a couple hours in and I already got my money's worth.
A huge part of the charm of ZombiU was the fact you could come across a friend as a zombie. And the gamepad stuff is some of the best use of it. Hopefully the game stands up without all the wii U extras.
It's not specific to MS, but all I know is that while I want a X1, I'm not in a position to get one. And here I am with my 360 thinking how neat it'd be to be able to play the not-360 games. I don't fault them for that, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have to be that way.
Moneyhatting a dev house to make a game DX12 exclusive or whatever is exactly what they do. It's totally in their interests to do it.
Well shit. Time to go have a private meeting with YNAB...
It... you should stay away from it. It has a large amount of variety in character creation... except it just rolls dice and sticks you with something. I worry what that'll do to you, and whether you'll repeatedly suicide to get something you like.

Just glanced at the store page, damn but that art style is tempting. Not the type of game I'm in the mood for at this very moment, but wishlisted all the same, that looks great.
Edit: Not a small download for Zombi, 21gb. Time to head to the Winchester, grab a pint, and wait for this to install.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is also going to hit the 360. The others, not so much, but at least we get that (it's also the only one of the three that interests me, so that's helpful for me). And it'll probably still look and run great, honestly. TR '13 still blows me away with what it made that hardware do.
