I gotta admit, Dan has a point, DH2 isn't just that good. And DH3...just didn't feel like a proper DH to me.

Well DH3 was retrofit into a DH movie from a different script all together.

edit: And in a vacuum DH2 is fine, but it's basically the first movie but set in an airport.

Aren't all the Die Hard movies just taking scripts from other movies and then working Die Hard into them to make it more marketable?

Yesss new Vinnyvania tomorrow. Will Vinny beat the second to last level in Castlevania III? I honestly have no idea; it's the hardest level in the game.

I kind of want to get MGSV just for the gameplay (skip all the cutscenes, never use Quiet, etc), it looks like the actual playing of it is a lot of fun. I'll wait until it goes super on sale though.

It's really fun! The story is nonsense!

Like, the last many hours of playing the game, I completely stopped progressing the story altogether because I didn't give a shit about it not more than halfway through the game, and instead just went around doing side shit and playing around the world. The game mechanics are really great, and you get to play as a lady character without too much name/gender weirdness. The real lack of pace-interrupting codec and dearth of cutscenes (relative to the more indulgent entries, anyway) makes it a lot easier to ignore to.

So yeah, that's a thing you can totally do rather painlessly.

I think MGSV is one of the few games were I actually look forward to some random Side Ops. So much crazyness can happen.

Quiet is a very good/useful character too, don't let the outfit keep you from using her as a buddy.

The story does seem to be an unfinished mess though. Oh, and every single cutscene is skippable. Even some of the ones you control a character through can be skipped.

Also holy shit the Mario Maker level looks devious as all hell. Apparently Patrick Klepek tried it out on his morning stream too.

Patrick remembers the spin jump near the end of the stream. I like that he developed his own technique to get past Giant Bowser. What I find fascinating about the level is that Giant Bowser chasing the player was not an intentional design choice, but ends up a key component of the difficulty for those that are not aware of the level's secrets.

I missed the stream where they designed the level, so watching Patrick try and play through the level this morning was interesting to watch. Looks like he's going to give it a second try in about 25 minutes.

Hopefully by the time I do pick it up there'll be a mod or cheat engine utility to have her non-awful costumes unlocked and equipped by default. If not I'll just use DD.

Quiet's outfit is shitty, but she's a pretty good buddy and you don't even see her while you're running around doing missions.

Wow, there's a huge difference between Patrick streaming in the morning and afternoon. He tends to get around 150 viewers in the morning, and he was at 2000+ just now. I mean, I guess that shouldn't be very surprising.

    Zilla360
  • SniperGuySniperGuy SniperGuyGaming Registered User regular
Also you can literally swap her model with Ocelot's so if it's that upsetting to you I'm positive you can change her outfit from the get go already. The unlockable costume in mere_immortal's spoiler is pretty great though. Oh and the first time you encounter her
you can just put a bullet in her head I believe. So you aren't forced into using her at all. (Don't do that, she's super useful and has at least an interesting story, with an ending)

@Beltaine Patrick used to work with Giantbomb and then went to Kotaku.

Sure, but at the end of the game practically. I'd rather it from the beginning since even if you don't see her during missions the copter stuff is almost unavoidable.

That unlockable outfit is also bad in the game it's from so I wouldn't use it, just that first one.

Seeing how Patrick plays just drives home the gulf in skill between people who fully understand World's mechanics and those who don't. I can only imagine how much worse it is for people who are just now being exposed to SMW through this game.
