Honestly I was hoping they would do this after they did the epilogue thing between 1 and 2. Well, in between each game really.

I actually sort of admired the first bomb in Ground Zeroes--it's everything else that's the problem for me.
That's some really well executed body horror--that it is happening to a woman, and that popular body horror usually happens to women, is perhaps pretty fucked up, but purely on execution, they nailed it. I was very uncomfortable! And I like that a game made me feel that way: it's rare to see
And the second bomb, well. That's where I start to turn. Fridging sucks and it sucks in Metal Gear where the latent misogyny doesn't help matters. I have no issue with anyone who has a problem with that stuff, but I can shake my head and look past it
But the tape? And all that shit?
That's straight up indefensible
And that's where I stand on all that
I am still very excited to play MGS5, largely because I now possess a free copy of it, but there ain't nothin' wrong with seeing some fucked up shit, saying "this is fucked up" and peacing out
I fully respect that
But now that it's just sitting in my steam library I'm suddenly very curious just how fucked up it gets
All of the tapes are in this video at the end - although I love Metal Gear and this stuff doesn't make me even consider not playing 5, it is pretty gross and I don't think really necessary at all. We will see where it goes in MGS5, but I also kind of hope they don't elaborate too much on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4UxP_8eFU8
I haven't listened to "the tape" but after watching Ground Zeroes on Giantbomb, purely that part didn't seem that bad. There's a bit of a graphic scene which is definitely wince worthy, but they don't directly call out what happens next or anything. Given we're watching Big Boss go from legendary hero to legendary villain, having truly awful things happen to the people close to him seems like a reasonable thing to expect to happen. The scene at the end I saw seemed fine and not handled poorly or anything. Going into more weird detail serves to flesh out the bad guy more, but probably unnecessarily, based on what people have said.
Also holy shit Dan, the stink bomb thing is not okay. I love that Dan thinks people who jaywalk and run around marathon races naked should be arrested, but going to a bar and making it unusable for a few hours is fine? Just keep talking about Metal Gear and not much else please Dan.
Watching Dan play Heroes of the Storm was a bit painful, but at least they were all positive on it.

Ground Zeroes totally stole that bit from Southpark anyway.
Maybe I'm just awful, but I immediately thought of the snuke and started laughing during that scene.
Anyway I've been pretty much without GB content for the last two months due to work and travel - pretty excited to binge watch Drew play MG4 as a prelude to Phantom Pain. That, and the Contradiction play through, which sounds absolutely hilarious.

Well he did admit it was a dumb thing he did when he was young.
THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR TEAMGAFSDGHDAFSGSDFGDFHBNIKLNGFSH
I really shouldn't watch them play games that I know how to play ever.
I was pretty proud of myself for not getting uppity during that. The list of things he needs to work on is pretty long, but also he's always been more of a console gamer and doesn't have a lot of the basics down for a game like that.
What is more surprising is that even though he's playing that way, he's still really enjoying the game.

I was kind of ok with it and all "Well he's enjoying himself and learning" until he said something like "yeah I don't really know how to know where my teammates are"

Only slightly worse than Patrick's jukebox trolling.
In order to help Dan along I offered to buy his book if he bought the America skin over twitter. No response though so I think my efforts were unsuccessful.
Join us down the rabbit hole Dan. Oh you like this cool mount? It's only available for a limited time...
You think Dan is going to admit that he's enjoying a MOBA AND learning how to play it? That's not what cool normal guys do.
He literally said it was rewarding learning the tactics / strategy element of the game once he'd started getting the mechanical basics down. But that might as well never have happened because internet preconceptions.
I thought it was an excellent Quick Look, Dan seemed eager to learn how it works and was having fun, Drew seemed to get really excited watching it play out and you had Brad as the Veteran explaining both strategic fundamentals and how it differs from the more hardcore MOBAs out there. As well as pushing that it's even better rolling with a group of friends.
Dan said something along the lines of "I finally get the appeal of this genre", which must have had Blizzard's designers punching the air somewhere as that is HotS's entire thing - to attract players new to the genre with streamlined, colourful gameplay.

knowing basically nothing of MOBAs I thought it was a really good quick look actually and made me very interested in playing heroes of the storm (sadly i don't have time for games like that but still)

Personally, I thought he was playing fine, but all these HOTS experts seem to be coming out of the woodwork to complain that Dan isn't beginner playing good enough or something.

Dan was playing ok for someone new to the moba genre, it takes time to get map awareness and overall strategy down. The important bit is that he was having fun and not being frustrated, so he might continue to play in the future.
Dan's biggest problem was tunnel vision, where he only focused on what he was doing rather than what the team was doing. Once he had that buddy in the second match to literally tell him what to do to help out the team he did a lot better.

Man that Quicklook and COD's have been so awesome.
He did so, using the company's money.
Nah, that was for Raynor himself, according to the quicklook.

That's... odd. Raynor is almost always free. Didn't know he *could* come off the free-play list.

Yeah, but the scarabs made a bee-line for Snake and completely ignored the tiny robot hacking the AI they were supposed to be protecting.
It's possible that if Snake weren't even there, the scarabs wouldn't have been there either.
