Yeah, you can tell how little people in the GB community knew about Jason until fairly recently, especially when he announced he and Lisa were expecting and people were like "OMG first time daddy!" and he was like "Uh, actually..."
I wanna say he went into it a bit during Extra Life or something, when he mentioned watching saturday morning cartoons with his son. I think everyone just assumed he meant Dan, though. Hell, during Extra Life he was taking bets on how old the audience thinks he is, and I think everyone overshot. Turns out he's part Native American and also like Jeff's age. He's also a diabetic and a smoker, though I remember Lisa saying that they had a deal where if she took better care of herself (I think she said she would skip a lot of meals), he would quit.
Yea, he said it somewhere since I knew he had a kid when he was much younger, but not much besides that. That 2014 Extra Life stream with him and his wife w/ samantha kalman guesting forever was really great.

According to this Until Dawn QL, Jason taught his son the dangers of premarital sex and drugs by showing him Halloween. It was only partially successful.

The Beastcast is such a great dynamic. You have Papa Vinny with his dad jokes and playing the straight man, Austin with the educated view who also has the best reactions whenever somebody says something hilarious, and the ever-exasperated and grumpy Alex, playing the Bones role to Vinny and Austin's Kirk and Spock. Also Jeff is there as the bewildered outsider who's stepped into a crazy world he can't quite understand. It all works and I wish Beastcasts were three hours long every week.

The Beastcast goes on the sort of tangents I miss from older Bombcasts. I loved the moment one of them wondered how they got to talking about diners for fifteen minutes.
I think Brad taking over the Bombcast has been inadvertently bad for tangents. He just keeps them on such a tight leash with segments, it's What Are You Playing -> News -> E-Mails and we're out. A couple weeks back when Brad was away and Jeff was in charge it got a lot more random because he can't be bothered to drag people back on track.
Meanwhile, it sounds like for the Beastcast, everyone brings a topic to discuss and they go around the circle, but within each topic they can just go off and don't come back for a while.

Yeah, the dynamic of the Beast just fits better, I think. It also just has more places to go and fits more tastes, I think.
Vinny has always been my favorite, and I actually really like Austin a lot. Alex I've never had an issue with but he seems to do a lot better now that he's around people more regularly.
That tangent about diners in the Northeast was fantastic. It made me wistful for them and I didn't even have the teen shenanigans they talked about. I just like eating eggs at 3am.
Edit: also being a New Yorker, I enjoy the local flavor injected into each episode. Vinny coming to terms with how much has changed since the last time he lived here a decade ago. Austin's kinda like that too, having recently moved back, but it's become NYC transplant Alex's responsibility to break things down. And Jeff Bakalar is there too.
But in all seriousness, I'm hearing this new one is non-linear, and several dozens of hours long. And it has barely any cutscenes. They might have to just do a sort of "check in with Drew and Dan" type thing like they did with World of Warcraft, because nobody will be the "Expert" this time around. The controls will be good, but it might not be as compelling as content as the last games were.
Also I really wanted Drew and Dan to have regular guy experiences with the game, but I guess they're gonna do it on stream which means panicking and rushing for the sake of time and content.
While I'll totally watch MGScanlon 5, I was okay with letting the feature die with MGS4. Drew's had a hard year, he deserves some rest.
And by rest, I mean enjoying the game like a normal human being not under a microscope.

What's even funnier is if you check the comments on that video.

Saw this in the podcast comments:
Have to listen to this new danswers if Jason is on it. I like Jason a lot.
Jason always has that chill vibe to him, just listening to him makes me relax.

guys.
I think I like the Giantbeastcast better than the Giantbombcast. Also, also, I think I started enjoying East Coast quick looks more.
What is happening?
Do not be alarmed.
Austin is fucking great
He's so great when he's just relaxed and in his element instead of trying to be funny.

You are recognizing quality.
In other topics, I'm wondering if thanks to Konami's shenanigans we won't get a Giant Snakecast 2 for quite a while if at all.
