There's lots of dumb and compelling mini-games, from clickers to dress-ups. They used to be flash games but times have changed man, Unity and HTML 5 are some of the cool kids now.
You waste time online, I waste time online, let's share the best ways to waste time online or god help me I might end up being productive at work.

What is agario? No offense, but I don't want to click that link.

You play a little cell, and you run around trying to become a big cell by eating other cells without being eaten yourself. But the bigger you get, the slower you are, and the more it takes to gain mass (and keep from losing mass). You can split yourself into multiple cells to try and grab the smaller cells, but doing so makes you more of a target for larger cells.

It's simple but it's compelling.
Watching people play it on twitch or youtube is strangely entertaining.

didn't neopets shut down because it was a front for scientology
Whileit did have connections with Scientology it did not affect the buisness. Neopets was bought by another company, who then proceeded to shit all over it.

I guess I was just too old for Neopets.

A decent platformer-shooter. It becomes a bit of a slog later on, but it can be pretty fun to just do some ridiculous stuff in the early levels. It also actually has online multiplayer, which is pretty cool. It also has a ridiculously robust map editor.
Fuck Neopets, Kingdom of Loathing is where it was at.

I played the everloving shit out of Kingdom of Loathing.
I also played a game called Adventure Quest. It was a flash game and kinda shit.

I'm pretty sure the guy who made Adventure Quest has like, a bunch of different MMOs going at the same time. I played one called Mech Quest for a bit. Seemed okay to middle school me.

I too played Adventure Quest, and I can confirm, it was kinda shit.
The best part was the team behind it hyping up a new game they were making to take things in a new direction
said new game was essentially the same except your avatar walked around

It's a totally harmless game about bigger circles chasing smaller circles and trying to absorb them, it's fun though.
And fuck yeah it's the neopets thread, drop the virtual animal truthbombs.
That sounds a lot like Osmos, which is fun and just a beautiful game. I don't think it's online though.
And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn

My favorite thing about Adventure Quest was when they eventually gave everyone who had an account about a million gold and reworked the shop prices, because they were fucking retarded. It was absolutely impossible to reasonably get anything decent.
What was really dumb was when they started introducing classes and shit...Lord, it was so stupid.

Oh man, I spent WAY too much time on Neopets back in the day. Got the lab ray map, farmed up a bunch of points for paintbrushes, the whole 9 yards.
I went back to look at the site recently and JEEZE is their interface awful. Most of it is as I remember it from years and years ago, and the rest is a flash nightmare of un-navigable menus.

Can someone explain what the hell neopets is?
Cause.
What the hell is neopets?

It was just a website where you raised 'pets' and played games with them or whatever. They had you play minigames (sponsored by corporations most of the time, which is where they got their revenue) to earn 'neopoints' for currency. You could buy shit to decorate your pet.
it's not super complicated

So...online flash-based pokemon?

Not really, the emphasis was more on the actual raising and adventure than proper battling

Royal Boy Zafara.
I still don't think I ever found another player that owned one and I didn't understand why because it was clearly far and away the best pet/colour combination in the game.

I'd describe it as an online flash Monster Rancher, minus the "disc-scanning" component.
That's not a knock, by the way, I loved the hell out of Monster Rancher when I was a youngling.
