I played it with my younger brother. The best thing I got out of it was the ability to understand the reference in Four Lions.

This is a shot at a collection of ideas I had a few years ago, about looking critically at the universe of Super Mario Bros. in light of the total lack of explicit narrative in the original game in particular. Who are these strange men? What motivates them? By what right do they wreak the havoc they do on this strange place? What do they feel about where they are and what they're doing?

And so, this is one lens through which to look at all that, with Luigi, the second brother, the also-ran, as a complicit onlooker, wandering now through some fractured, rotting liminal place in this strange world, reflecting on it all in scattered fragments.

My favorite thing about Adventure Quest was when they eventually gave everyone who had an account about a million gold and reworked the shop prices, because they were fucking retarded. It was absolutely impossible to reasonably get anything decent.

What was really dumb was when they started introducing classes and shit...Lord, it was so stupid.

That cheap-ass pallette swap they launched called Space Quest or whatever was total garbage. I think that was the one where you could actually walk your character around to click on stuff instead of just clicking on it with the cursor. And they had Fantasy Quest (another pallette swap) too, that company really just tried to pump every last penny out of what was essentially the same shitty and boring flash game with a few tweaks here and there.

Agario may be the most brutal game I have ever played. The only way not to die is to kill those poor unfortunates who happen to be smaller than you. There is no escape, no mercy and (at least for me so far) no winning. You are meat, and you will be consumed.

There's a definite point I'm hitting in Agario where you're too big to get away from the things that are much bigger than you but too big to easily catch other cells. I guess it's just luck that gets you past there?

That's the point where you've got to learn how to split efficiently, both as a way to escape capture and swallow up smaller cells.

Hmm Kingdom of Loathing still has that weird Free To Play thing without the ability to buy out of it.

Everyday you get 40 adventures, and there are some items and stuff that increase the number, you can eat food or drink booze but when you get too full or drunk you have to wait until the next real time day to play more. There is no paywall or anything, thats just it.

This is one of my all-time favorite dumb internet games, and I tend to get the urge to play it about twice a year. Once around the holiday season for obvious reasons, and once in the middle of summer when I'm sick of the heat and am pining for winter.

    Winter Bells!

It's a game about a sweet little bunny rabbit jumping up into the sky on magical bells! The music is very soothing.

The other game I still have a soft spot for is Robot Unicorn Attack, also mainly because of the music. The whole game is built on the premise that it is stupid and the music doesn't fit at all, but for some reason I find it funny every single time. Not gonna bother linking that, because I'm sure everybody and their dog has played it

Also learning that smaller blobs are still threats since they can throw those green spike balls into you, which splits your big blob into a ton of smaller fragments. And that's when the feeding frenzy begins.

There's a button to eject a small amount of food from yourself

if you eject a few into a green spiky ball it will split another green spiky ball out in the direction you threw the food

this can be used to take down significantly larger blobs

That's how the bigger blobs die, since nothing else can actually threaten them.

    Oh man, remember Candy Box?

I still remember @Blake T never getting a chest, then almost immediately after he announced that, this happened:

    He was quite upset.

It saddens me that clicker games have stolen the spotlight from infinitely more enjoyable minimalist-idle-adventure games like Candy Box.

I lost many months a few years ago to Billy vs Snakeman (Anime-themed, meme heavy, web-based RPG-ish game thing).

Luckily I have a smartphone now so I can semi-real-ish games!
