PrePAX 8/27 Pinny Pals Dinner- The Palomino Restaurant and Bar at 6pm

Well, I've never started a post in a forum before, but here goes

There's a thread for who's attending PAX and a thread for trading at PAX but there isn't a specific one for meeting up on the Thursday before PAX and it was something I think we may want to have a solid plan about.

I've heard discussions about bar/restaurant meet-ups, BBQ's at a pal's apartment and hanging onto the PrePAX Board Game night at the Sheraton.

I for one like the Board Game Night idea because I'll be in the area picking up my Badge anyway, you don't don't need a badge to attend the boardgame night, I can bring my little brothers and as someone pointed out in the chat, people can just "trickle in" as they arrive.

Does anyone have a better idea? Does this sound good? Who'd want to/can even go? Let's discuss.

Edit:

We've got a time and place. See you at 1pm at the Cheesecake Factory for lunch and 6pm at the Palomino Restaurant and Bar for Dinner.

Update:
The Daily Grill surprised us with an upcharge for the group so we are moving the dinner to the Palomino Restaurant and Bar.

If you plan on going and haven't messaged @Darkinfero, please do so for we can have as accurate a headcount as we can.

I'll be at the Board Game Night anyway, so I like that idea.

At East we did a pre-PAX dinner and then went to the board game night after. I'd hope for something similar here at least, as my hotel is right upstairs from the board game night

I was hoping to go to the board game night. If I meet folks for dinner prior to this, it may introduce to people to game with :)

Dinner works cause everyone can put a face to a handle. Also go to board gaming night and maybe do some trades.
It worked well at South and east.
We need to find a place fast that can hold all of us. It would be easier if it's a 5 to 10 minute walk of the convention center.
I will make a poll again.

I'm in for whatever. Tell me where to go and what to eat and I'm down.

I think grabbing our own table or section of the board game night would be ideal, that way people can trickle in as they like. Plus then we can have plenty of rotating games starting at different times so nobody has to sit on the sideline and feel left out.

I'd do a dinner, but I'm in fremont from 4-5 for a ninja escape room, then pretty much straight to pre-pax board gaming..going to be quick dinner for me

however I'd love to see some of you there!

I like a dinner than move to board gaming ... we can put faces to names, etc.

I believe board gaming is in the Sheraton? If so, I will bring the box of bags down for easy dispersement

I'm up for dinner, and if anyone could invent a board game that involves pins, that would be great.

I might be overthinking this, would anyone be interested in a poker game, with like a 4 pin buy-in?

Yes sir, I can't Friday night though

man gambling with pins, I raise a DLC, the scariest words ever uttered... especially since every damn person at the table would call you, even if they had a 2/7 off-suit.

Ahem... just throwing it out there that it'd be illegal here in Washington to... uh... gamble. Especially in Seattle. In the Sheraton.

For non-currency? Doing it for money is illegal in most places, but gambling for items is usually a lot less regulated.

I agree, I was just wondering if the Washington laws were that strict. I can't look up gambling laws at work.

Got a call back from the Daily Grill.
They have a back room for 30 people.
If we do go with the room we need to spend about 1k as a group.

We can do something else but we won't have a private room. I also think some of us will buy drinks like myself and Craig.

I will try to make an appearance, but I don't want to take a seat for someone who is helping to pay for the minimum purchase. (33.00/pp is a lot when you don't drink)

Having looked at the menu, unless you order steak-class food, or get an appetizer, you won't hit $33 without drinking. Even then, there are plenty of entree + appetizer combos that are under $33. Also, is that $1000 including tip (which I'm sure will be automatic for a party this size)?

Come along. I'm not going to cap it at 30. The more the merrier I see it. I know I will be ordering drinks and such.
I will make it work tomorrow once I get the final tally.
