the fact that there's a contract for killing Monoculus or Merasmus on a pub server makes me wonder if anyone working at Valve has played a map with either of those bosses since the year they came out, because anybody who tries killing either of them nowadays is just going to get killed by the ~80% of every pub server that plays every map like it's TDM
I have a contract to kill the Headless Horseman on Mann Manor sitting in my list.
I sure hope it means "be there when he dies" and not "get the actual killing blow" because hoo boy if not.
I liked noticing all of HeyYou's pure white lighting that somehow managed to survive your re-theming.
I only ever touched the ambient lighting colors, the rest I just adjusted brightness, lowering a TON of them down by quite a lot. Didn't have quite enough time to really get into the nitty gritty of coloring and all that as well.
An update to Team Fortress 2 has been released. The update will be applied automatically when you restart Team Fortress 2. The major changes include:
Fixed getting the Masked Mann achievement on maps other than Mann Manor
Fixed a bug where the grappling hook would not switch back to the previous weapon after being released
Fixed the Quickplay server list sometimes displaying the map filename instead of the proper name
Added tournament medals for UGC Highlander Season 15, UGC Highlander Season 16, UGC 6v6 Season 17, UGC 6v6 Season 18, UGC 4v4 Season 4, and UGC 4v4 Season 5
Updated the Monoculus and Merasmus battles on Eyeaduct and Ghost Fort to call a temporary truce between the teams while fighting the boss
Added server convar tf_halloween_allow_truce_during_boss_event for community maps to use this feature
Updated Merasmissions to include a Quickplay button that will automatically join the required map or open the Quickplay menu if any map can be used
Updated taunts to prevent movement during the pre-round period when players are frozen
Updated the Invasion Coin to track stats through November 6th, 2015
Updated pl_millstone_event
Fixed getting out of the map using spells
Monoculus moves now around the end area of the map instead of staying near final pit
Made spells spawn a bit less frequently
Fixed ghost long arms, now it travels/arrives to hell

It would seem that they heard the screams and cries of the players
I know they're busy with this MASSIVE UPDATE THAT WILL CHANGE TF2 FOREVER, but this boss battle fix wasn't really thought out. I mean, it's good enough, but you can build sentries with little fear except that spies can sap them (but you can't break the sapper), and medics with an ubersaw can get a free uber by taking a 0% risk taunt (I wouldn't be surprised if scout or soldier couldn't build up their meters during the truce either).
Still, it's a great addition that finally was added to the game (something that many halloween community servers had been running for a couple years, at least). The biggest thing is that it ends the heavy medic pair that pop kritz during a boss fight to mow down the entire unsuspecting team.
So two things:
I got tired of always winding up on the losing side of a steamroll while trying to fill contracts. So I went and pulled Screaming Heavy on the team. We won 4 rounds in a row, I think I shouted myself hoarse, and I got a solid 80 points on a contract.
It's rad as fuck to be popping back and forth through all these different maps and seeing Crash's name all over the game these days.
Unfortunately a ranked system is going to attract a ton of cheaters looking for an ego boost. Hopefully Valve is intelligent enough to prevent F2P accounts from playing it.
Though I guess odds are high they'll clone the MvM system: a free mode with no goodies, and a ticketed mode you have to buy in to.
In Dota you can't play ranked until you've played some large number of unranked matches, though I guess that's not something that can be directly translated to TF2.
I've never bought a MvM ticket and a ticket system for ranked matchmaking would make me not bother with it.

Are you guys ready for account progression?

I'm hoping for an update to the CS:GO VAC (and Source) version. I hope they don't charge for competitive (and even if they did, it wouldn't discourage hackers, just look at mann-up mode in MvM)

This is working as intended IMO.
It was my experience that it was very easy to build a lvl3 Sentry near or on the KOTH point whilst everyone was focusing down the boss before the patch. And then the Engineer would let loose on everyone after the point became active.
Allowing the Spies to stand in front of the Sentry and just sap everything is a hilarious way of resolving this.

So instead of the bosses being hard to kill because everyone kills each other, now they are hard to kill because 50% of the server are engis trying to greif each other and spies dicking them over with indestructible sappers.
Good job TF2 community, you never fail to disappoint.
+1

Seems like the best solution would be that engie buildings can't be built or picked up during a boss section. Maybe add in that buildings already picked up before the mode starts can't be put down.
Unfair? Totally. But the bed that has been made, and all that.

Also gargoyles don't count towards it.

I do not have one of those!
But apparently my posting about it worked it's magic because I was able to get two of them shortly after.
Shouldn't I be due more than that by now though?

Am kind of interested to see how pubs respond to this.
About as civilly as you might imagine.. they immediately tried to come up with a way to grief each other with it.

I have no idea what this means.
He means competitive matchmaking.
It's been said to be coming for a long time.
...I'll probably try it for ~20 minutes when it comes out then never again.
Valve time.
SO SAD
Goldencoal looking badass.
I really need a new compy. Early next year, hopefully.
