I've been eager to grab this when the expansion is out, but I didn't realize it was $60. That seems steep for an expansion, and the game seemed awfully small in compare to how long they'd been working on it, it makes me think the expansion couldn't have a ton of content? Keep in mind I'm only really interested in the world and story stuff. All the loot talk doesn't matter much to me, though I like getting fancy gear as much as the next guy, but it won't keep me playing.
I know it contains the original game, does it also contain all the DLC up to that point?
Also would someone starting a new char have a chance to see most everything do you think or will people not be around to do any old content? A guess of course, hard to say right now, but I figured you vet players might have a good idea of it. I only ever got to play the first two strikes (which were a blast).
I don't think you'll have a hard time getting people to do the old content with you. Maybe not right when TTK drops because everything is new and shiny, but after it dies down, sure. Crota is soloable and vault is just plain fun.
Please consider the environment before printing this post.

If you get the chance, the documentary "I know that Voice" is pretty awesome and it shows the actual range of voice actors. It's fairly impressive what they can do and how they can sound.

Not trying to deter you from a purchase, but if you are looking more for story and exposition etc and not really interested in the loot collecting part I'm not sure if it will be the greatest value for you. As that is at this point probably 90% of the game. Although the Taken King is supposedly working to fix that I doubt its going to reach AAA rpg level story telling ala Dragon Age or Witcher or whatnot.
As it stands at the moment I'm not sure their is enough story to warrant a $60 purchase if that is all you are interested in. Maybe that will change.

Ah ha, I only saw the $60 version when I did my searching. It's nice there is a cheaper version for people who already have it. That's an issue I've had with expansions over the years. Good for them.
Squall - I wondered that myself. I really enjoyed the setting of what I've played but I wanted more story than it seemed to deliver. Maybe I'll wait to hear about TKK's review as far as story goes.

Pretty much. Although one has to wonder if it stops if your melee is full? Sometimes leaving orbs up is useful to get your super back very quickly after using it. Guess time will tell!
I was going to skip IB this time but my Hunter is 42 marks shy of 200. Guess I'll be playing for an evening or two. No real reason to bother for the gear or items anymore since they'll all be worthless in three weeks.
Well, one last hurrah for Thorn I guess. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

Any chance a couple X1 guardians might like to carry my 30 Hunter through some strike lists and Weekly? I'm trying to get 65 more Vmarks so I can pick up arms or boots to ascend and hit 32 for Nightfall.

I still need like 25 and I think my approach to it was basically just do them as I did the complete 6 patrol missions on X. I ran into 2 public events while doing Venus patrol bounty yesterday.

Pretty much yes. This Iron Banner is fairly pointless for folks that have been playing since HoW launched. IB with a full PA group is a lot of fun though. The addition of no pressure to hit Rank 5 might make it even more fun. It's also a good way to grind out those Crucible Grimoire cards.
I'd personally like it if I could still pick up orbs after my super is charged some of the time. But that's with perks that regen health on orb pick-up, not this item.
Maybe the Sunbreaker melee will be something badass that makes this worth-while. I wouldn't mind being able to fast-charge Sunsinger exploding-shotgun-fist on raids/strikes since my super is usually charged and sitting there doing nothing in case we need a self-res to save the day but it's a titan hat so bleh.

It's like ... the opposite of a perk. It actually makes your Titan worse.
I really hope it's the last node in the item so I can just ever activate it.
