One thing I'm still not 100% sure about, what unlocks the ships/shaders/emblems at their kiosks? Do I have to visit them or just have the item in my inventory postpatch for it to unlock?
new Crucible shader, Nighthawk is cool to be able to use shaders on.

Yes, this. Why does everyone's destiny update but mine? I have two XBones (one is girlfriends) and a PS4. None have ever auto-updated. Other games have, though.

i think DLC/content updates and patches are treated differently with the former downloading automatically whereas patches require you to boot up the game to be applied. since Destiny handles all its updates through patches, i means no auto-updates under the current system.
or i could be completely and utterly wrong. my DL has finished so gonna go play now.

I had to go into Destiny to get the update to start downloading. I don't know why it's that way, but this is how it's always worked for me.
Yeah, my PS4 was in rest mode with Destiny active. When I turned it on, the OS told me there was an update, closed Destiny and was at 30mb out of the 17.658 GB. No idea why this can't be like other updates that are automatic. Probably to not utterly destroy their network bandwidth? Like, huge patch = by request only? Might make sense.
Hey, so, The Stranger's Rifle? It's Legendary now. As in, I'm downloading the patch currently and looking at my Vault in the companion app shows it as a purple item, not blue. And it can be Ascended.
I'm still sifting through the new content and the updates and the forums (I've got plenty of time, 33% complete), but this stood out to me. Sunbreakers are back, and grant double grenades! Exactly what I hoping for!

* Existing Frontier Shells get stats: 3 Defense and the following perks:
Increase Intellect/Increase Discipline, Spinmetal Sensor/Spinmetal Extractor, Cleansing Ritual (all 3 of my Frontier Shells have the same perks... don't know if it's random)
* Heart of the Praxic Fire looks amazing with Predawne or Cryptographic shaders
* Helm of Saint-14 looks amazing with Imogen's Fire

I think the upgrade thing is specific to the Stranger's Rifle, since it's sort of a 'new' gun now. Existing legendaries still need Etheric Light to max out just as they did before.
So this doesn't have anything to do with the 2.0 goodness but I saved this clip from the other day in crucible. Note: when you are in a super close game of control you probably shouldn't cluster several members of your team around a control point when everyone is almost at 20k....

I suspect this may be the issue. I made sure to close Destiny and mine was downloading it when I got home though I did "prime" it by telling it to download some stupid 50 mb game through the web interface so it got woke up. I think the other issue is that it probably rountinely "checks in" at something like 2 am to keep server load low.
