So I am having trouble with my 1ish yr old video ipod. The headphone jack seems to be a bit loose. When the i plug it in and start playing the right headphone speaker cuts in and out because of a bad connection to the plate inside (thats my best guess at least, headphones work fine elsewhere). The plate, with use, seems to have been pushed to the side a bit. When I walk around I have to push the jack over to make contact. This doesn't always work and I am afraid I will break off the headphone jack eventually. I've been trying to come up with solutions but the only one I can think of is to find some sort of conductive shim and place it inside and hope it creates a better connection. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Send it in to apple for them to look at, ask them is it cheaper to repair or buy a new one.
When shit of this nature I usually buy new if it will cost me over 50% of what I paid for it.
You say it's 1 year-ish old - if it's less than a year, you'll still be within your complimentary year of AppleCare. Stroll along to http://www.apple.com/support/ and type your iPod's serial number into the box down the right-hand side, and it'll tell you how long you have left. If you're still covered, you could probably get the repairs done for free.
