I liked all of the season journey goals this season, with the exception of the 70 hardcore. I just don't understand why that made it in again. I'm already maxed out on character slots, so I had to delete one of my seasonal mules just to make a hardcore character that I will immediately delete upon reaching 70. (By the way, thanks to @Column for getting me to 65 last night.)
For the conquests I did The Thrill, Avarice and Years of War. The Thrill is pretty easy for most classes once you get a few well-rolled non-set legendaries. I did last season's Hammer of the Ancients build on my barb minus the IK set. Having an Obsidian ring made it much easier to keep up Berserker, and Band of Might took care of any toughness issues.
For Avarice I just did TX rifts and when I found a gilded baron I just swapped into my Goldskin and got it pretty easily. Without Goldskin I was only getting about 42M when killing a baron, so the Goldskin was necessary to boost me over 50M.
Years of War was easy since I had always planned to roll 2 classes. GR 55 is not very difficult once you have p600+ since you will have good legendary gems and all of the sets pieces. Even Firebird was easy on GR55 since trash mobs stay alive long enough to give you the damage boost from the perma-burn. I think pure Raekor was the hardest since I didn't have perma-berserker from the IK and the RG was kinda tough but overall not too bad.
I got sick of trying to get the correct gear for Raekor and just wanted to be done with Years of War, so last night I threw on 5 Rk, with 3 IK and Aquila cubed. With that up in between boulder tosses, plus Together as One and Striding Giant, it was a breeze. Cheesy as hell.
I was so focused on Thorns with my LoN I forgot there were other options for Crusader. Now I found an Ancient Gyrfalcon's Foote and Jekanbord and need to rework all of my gear (well, have one set for each) to include CC/CD instead of Thorns for the Steed Charge build. Captain America, here I come!
Why haven't they instituted item set swaps yet? You'd think by now that would be included. Not that I have the gear to do this swap yet, but it would make things so much easier.

This has been my experience as well. I've been focusing mainly on doing the Season Journey stuff and didn't find any of it particularly irritating or odd from the perspective of someone who hasn't played since 1.0.
So far I'm only 2 goals away from being done with Guardian, I just need to speed run a TX Rift in under 3 mins and do one more Conquest. I'm also working on The Thrill and am at 3/6 on that with one piece away from 4/6 on just Crusader alone. I've also just gotten Wizard to 70 over the weekend and already have a full firebird set, almost a full Tal Rasha and almost a full Magnum Opus just from blood shard farming on Crusader and feeding it into Wizard.
It really feels like once you get up to the higher Grifts and Paragon levels it become easier and easier to farm up the pieces you need just by the sheer volume of materials and shards you get.
My main mitigating factor right now seems to be Death Breaths, I squandered them early when I thought they flowed like water and now I realize it can take a bit of farming to get them back >.<
Still it's been a lot of fun and I'm very excited to start trying out Wizard builds. Teh Arcane Orb build with Magnum Opus in particular seems to mesh with my playstyle so that's the one i'm going for first.
I don't get the hate on the HC to 70 requirement though, I just had a friend spend 20 minutes to PL me to fulfill that requirement. I think it would be more frustrating early on but once people have gotten up there it seemed very trivial to me. Is there something I'm missing here?

On that note, I think the Might barb build is a great example of using non-set items in a positive way.
I like that there is strong incentive to use Dread Iron + Blade of the Tribes with Band of Might cubed. Without each of those new items, it's very easy to imagine running 5 Might / 3 Ik - especially if tribes didn't exist or only affected one skill.
That's much healthier for the game in my opinion, encouraging each set build to feel different than the others, instead of 3 IK everywhere.
Contrast that with Demon Hunters' new Dawn and Visage of Gunes. Instead of making one spec feel better and distinct, it has taken over and made almost every build run Vengeance. That just makes the whole class feel a bit bland to me.
Similar to that, while more of a skill issue, is crusader. I've lost my enthusiasm for the class because it all feels the same. 3 of the sets drop generators and run AC, one set drops spenders and runs AC, LoN drops generators AND spenders... and runs AC... what if I don't want to use AC?!?
So I went Hardcore again this Season, and got a WD up to 70, was in the low 100's for Paragon, and then while running around with a friend getting power leveled near 200, I ended up going down when I guess I didn't notice that my safety net had popped. 6 piece Jade Harvester's, gone.
Luckily, I'd resisted the urge to shard my extra set pieces, and frankly I wasn't really enjoying that playstyle anyway (and the set dungeon for JH can eat a bag of dicks), so he got my new WD up to 70 in like 15 or 20 minutes, and then I went digging through the pile of random shit in my stash.
Hrm, Tall Man ring, Short Man ring, 3 pieces of Zunimassa's (plus cubed RoRG)... PET BUILD RIDES ONCE AGAIN! We farmed a few rifts for gear with his lower powered WD, putting me at 2 Zunimassa's and 4 piece Helltooth, at which point I'm farming higher Torments and GRfits than I was with JH. Sure, I miss critting for over half a billion with haunts, but the need to double-haunt enemies to get the full effect was just too slow against large groups of lower/middle level enemies, and the sacks of HP on tougher foes were dropping off, plus needing to get close to things for Locust Swarm and Soul Drain or whatever it's called.
My Dog hits like a truck, and while it's nothing compared to these GRift 75 screenshots and whatnot, solo'ing 30 handily was fun, and I can definitely aim higher. Knocked off the Zunimassa set dungeon (not mastered, just enough to finally finish Chapter 4 of the journey), and then knocked out chapter 5 like half an hour later. :-D
Then I saw the requirements for chapter 6. D-:
And the Stash tab isn't awarded until Chapter 8? O.O
Well, guess we'll see how much time I can spare away from X-Com 2 when it drops. Given that the season will go on for months, in the long term I might claw higher.

Trying to put together the LoN Bombard build on my crusader so I need very specific ancient pieces and they're not dropping. It was starting to piss me off so I leveled up a Barb....and so TotesMcGoats was born. I leveled him most of the way on T1 with a bunch of crafted(intelligence stats even) xp gear and some random beast of an ancient 2H weapon with gem of ease. The first 40 levels were coming so quickly the game couldn't keep up with the notices. It was hilarious. By level 65 I'd ditched the crafted stuff for gear with real stats(except for the Leoric's crown) and bumped it back down to hard. Still didn't take long to hit 70 after that. I threw all my random crap ancient gear on him when he hit 70 and he's back to running around stomping stuff on T1.
I feel like that could be a season conquest. Solo level a character to max within a certain amount of time. Leveling a hardcore character to max should probably be turned into a conquest too.
I'm up to 18 reforges on my Wand of Woh without getting it ancient. If you include the 1 cube and the 1 drop I've had, that's 0 for 20. Feels bad man.
Yeah, I'm still working on just getting that first Woh (as @Rius laughs in the background). Weapons has easily been the hardest thing for my wizard, getting good ones on my DH was so incredibly easy. I have good ancient rolls of: Manticore, Nat's, Dawn, Lord Greenstone, and Karlei's Point, though still working on that Yang's.

I made a nice 2pc Cain's set (boots and gloves level oned them) and a ring and ammy. Pop a red in the hat and put an ease in a nice two hander. Rorg and Leoric in cube. Start on T6. Level 50 in a few minutes. Drop to T1 and spec out a build and level 70 in no time.

After some testing with crappily rolled gear, I've come to the conclusion that I still hate Blessed Hammer as much as ever. Also the Light build feels squishy and weird.
Turns out I also hate the Akkhan's set. I don't want to bend over backwards to include a shitton of CDR on my gear for a lackluster payoff. This leaves me with Invoker's and Roland to complete 2 of the Years of War sets, of which the Invoker part is already done. Which means my Barb needs to get the gear to do GR55 with all 4 of her sets (currently she's only GR55 viable as Leapquake).
50mil goldstreak seems to be the next easiest, however 6x 55grifts solo with different sets (therefore requiring two classes) is probably the next easiest assuming a power level for your second character.
So I just got my 6 piece Delsere's on a freshly-minted wizard, but that's about all I have (besides a non-ancient Wand of Woh). Any ideas on a good starter build as I search for a good weapon to make the build work, as well as all the other various pieces? Obviously, I can't be a world beater right now, but would like to do SOME kind of dmg.

I am currently trying to gear up a Barbarian, aside from my Crusader, so yeah that is probably a decent option

IK, MotE and Raekor are all fairly easy to do a GR 55 with provided you have paragon levels and gems from your main. You can go trapped, stricken and esoteric for all 3 set builds.
I'm up to 18 reforges on my Wand of Woh without getting it ancient. If you include the 1 cube and the 1 drop I've had, that's 0 for 20. Feels bad man.

I've had good luck otherwise this season, so I can't complain too much. I have a 3k Fragment of Destiny, Unstable Scepter and Twisted Sword so I'm pretty set for most builds. I just want the ancient Woh to round out that collection and to farm TX faster.
So I haven't played this game since before the expansion. I just hit 70 in the new ladder season with a crusader. What am I supposed to do with paragon point and whatnot now? I assume I should be going through adventure mode and doing bounties and whatnot.
It depends on your equipment and skills setup really. You might want to just start doing nefilem rifts, and bounty runs collecting a bunch of uniques, and at about the time you hit 100-200 paragon points, look at what you have and look on diablofans or something at the possible builds you might want to do...see if you have the equipment yet. push your torment level to the point you can do it effectively, dont go for the one you can 'just' do cause thats slow. find groups to play with, cause at this point there are tons of people with 300-1000 paragon points, and you can quickly gain the first 100 or so just by tagging behind someone running nef rifts soaking up xp assuming they dont mind.
So I just got my 6 piece Delsere's on a freshly-minted wizard, but that's about all I have (besides a non-ancient Wand of Woh). The basic gameplay is to trap monster inside your bubbles and blast them with your preferred spender. One newly designed item I love this season is Etched Sigil, an orb. It makes you cast your spenders for free every time you channel with Arcane Torrent, Disintegrate or Ray of Frost. It's great with Delsere's 2000% buff!
Delsere is not a great farming build though because your bubbles are stationary and therefore I wouldn't recommend it as a starting build. I still need to find a Twisted Sword. Stupid RNG dropped two Thunderfuries, two In-geoms and a Shard of Hate.

first thing to do is get the free set. im not sure what it is for crusaders.
you'll want to do a few bounty games so you can cube stuff. Other than that, rifts and then grifts once you get some keys.
I can help you out, my season wizard is pretty powerful at this point. Are you in the PA clan yet?

Is there actually room in the PA clan? I remember last time I was playing regularly, it was full.
Apparently my crusader was tougher than I thought cause I was able to do grift 20 in 8 minutes, so I finally got my 6 piece bonus
Oh my goodness this character went from really kinda slow and boring to so much damn fun
Edit i mean now I have to start rerolling pieces and optimising stats but I don't care because I can do t6 easy and I attack so dang fast
And with minimal effort you'll be obliterating TX for laughs and cruising through Grifts like they were nothing. I just did Grift 56 and I'm still missing a couple pieces of gear. I don't have Stricken and Trapped leveled yet and I need the Traveler's set Amulet still. I imagine with those I'll be able to get into the 60s nbd. I need to get my Paragon level up to get into that range too though. Invoker Crusaders are fucking nuts. I just wish legendary/set amulets weren't so ridiculously rare.
Speaking of Crusaders, is Phalanx any good? I keep finding gear that buffs the shit out it and I'm getting the urge to start fiddling with a Phalanx build.
50mil goldstreak seems to be the next easiest, however 6x 55grifts solo with different sets (therefore requiring two classes) is probably the next easiest assuming a power level for your second character.
I think I'd need a lot of much better gear to do nosets. I hadn't been thinking about it, so I just scrapped almost all legendaries I didn't need for a build.
I've already got the gold streak and just need another conquest for the stash space.

There should be room.
I won't speak for @HexDex, but in my opinion, everyone should always feel welcome to join the PAF community and request an invite. I would much rather have someone join that is actively playing than someone that hasn't been on in several weeks.
If the clan is full and even the least active member has been on recently, that's a bit different... but I'm not so sure that's ever been the case.
I guess noset Thorns Crusader I'd probably need to use nailbarrels for burst
Could probably get away with no pony
Akarat shield and Trove are the keys this way. Hack as a weapon with a well levelled thorns gem to back it up. I got oodles more damage out of it than anything else I tried (Condemned, Blessed Shield, Phalanx shotgun /bowmen )

Thankfully, the bulk of my Thorns comes from my weapon gem and a rank 50 Boyarsky's chip, so I'm good there
I've also got a crappy ancient Akarats Awakening and a good 6 second Trove
I might have a Hack that I'll have to reroll a socket onto
