So I happen to be catching a bit of the FSU-Houston game at a gym and there's two guys having a conversation nearby. One's wearing an FSU sweatshirt and keeps talking about how it's a 'David and Goliath' game and Houston was only ahead because they threw everything and the kitchen sink at FSU in the first half but that stuff wears out eventually. Also that their option offense is weird and hard to prepare for because you never see it. So I piped up and asked if they had played Georgia Tech earlier this year.
Had to leave a few minutes later, but I noticed that State had -2 rushing yards at that point (in the second half). Stopping the run is a gimmick, though. I think someone forgot to tell 12-1 Houston that they were David.

FSU went 0-2 in Atlanta this year, which is one of my favorite stats of the year.
Second straight year a loophole is letting one of the two teams in the national title game practice as much as they want. Basically they can go full out until class is in session which for OSU last year and Alabama this year is not until the week after the title game, while their opponents start this week so the limited hours thing comes into play.
NCAA needs to fix this, from a competitive balance standpoint.
Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.

This actively benefits Alabama, so there's no chance of that happening. Saban would shut that down in an instant.
Urban Meyer claimed last year that they didn't come "anywhere close" to practicing more than 20 hours a week during the same period. Take that as you will.
Okay, so who is CChavezTBW in the bowl pick 'em group?
That's me!

If I trusted what Urban Meyer said, then he's still retired supporting his family and looking after his health.
Right?

Yeah and if you could trust what Saban said he'd still be coaching the Dolphins.

Saban said he had no plans to leave Miami, and he didn't. He literally didn't until the flight with Mal Moore. Urban Meyer flat out made a fucking promise to his daughters and vowed he was retiring from football for good to focus on his health.

Is anyone else else finding it really hard to give a shit about this game? ESPN seems determined to make it impossible to see college football in general and there are real playoffs now in progress.
I guess maybe it is good for the game when Alabama is good. At least I kinda sorta care who loses.

The fact that they're airing fifteen, FIFTEEN separate broadcasts, of this shit is hilarious to me.

I don't know how you can say ESPN is trying to make it impossible to watch college football when we just got done with 40 bowl games, many of which were created with the express idea for ESPN to air more college football.

No joke I want one of the broadcasts to just be Finebaum talking to Phylis from Mulga and getting her unfiltered opinion of the Tide while it happens.

You're in luck.

Finebaum is the biggest troll in the world.
He feeds off it.
He lives off it.

So EA Sports are literally monsters. The NCAA Football facebook page has been inactive for like, 18 months and suddenly there's a new post on it today with a heart monitor beeping.
And any reasonable human being could have told them "activity on this page will be taken as a sign that we're making another game."
Apparently no reasonable human beings work at EA, and they have now clarified that it's just about the title game tonight and they have no news about a new video game.

Clearly a cheater. In fact, looking at my spot there in the group, there are a lot of dirty, dirty cheaters.
(oh my god, my bowl picks were horrible, just holy shit, what'd I do there?)

Right?
It is actively messed up that when I visit College Station this September I'll still have to watch a Noel Mazzone offense.
Oh well. At least he's finally gone.

Me too. As a SCar fan I'll rep the state over hate-watching both teams.

Anyway, super excited for this game tonight. Might play a little boozey National Championship Bingo while watching.

I think that one is on ESPN2.
But it'll be kind of hard to watch and listen to that stuff while at a bar...
Yeah, I'll be out as well, but if it ends up being a good game I'll definitely come back to the breakdown broadcast.
