I would not put it past them at all to patch in an ending
Like an extra ova on an anime dvd, because mgsv is an anime series
Nah, it's a game where you're an action guy doing cool action stuff.
Because animes usually have endings.
You'll see anime remarkably often that just sort of end without resolving the major plot threads as a blatant ploy to generate fan demand for the next season, in order to help secure financial backing for the future seasons. This tactic also fails hilariously often, so in the last 2 or 3 decades there's probably hundreds of unfinished 1 or 2 season series that aimed for a much longer run and will never be finished because they were too mediocre or because the production money got shifted to a more promising project. And then sometimes series that have been dormant for years and years and years suddenly get a straight up continuation, not a reboot or spin off, just "ok we're picking this up exactly where it was left off."
There was a recent series that put the last episode on hold until christmas.
I'm not even kidding.

The "legendary gunsmith" side op is what you want to do to unlock customization
it should unlock after mission 13
also "Cilla Black" if the later parts of the chain don't show up, do the "retrieve stun arm blueprint" side op. Seems to make the other ones pop up for some reason.
I've heard capturing that legendary bear is a factor too
I definetly got the gunsmith before doing the bear mission.

Mission 8 was pretty hairy for me.
My mb wasn't int he red, so I quickly developed and air dropped in a grom rocket launcher.
Then I set up an ambush with C4 on the first tank and sent a rocket into the middle car.
One rocket on the lead tank finished it, then I had to deal with the last one.
This one took a bit of effort. I actually died and had to repeat the strategy since it took multiple rockets and I took a direct hit the first time.
Fortunately I beat it on my second go because it turns out tank shells don't go through trees. I used them as cover.
I mean thank christ for that but it was pretty amusing since tank shells very much do go through quite a large number of trees!

I'm trying to figure out mission 8
I don't have mines
Is that the one with the two tanks and a truck convoy?
If so
There is a missle truck down the road a ways along their route. You can jack it pretty easy and blow up the tanks with it. Interogating the head of the outpost the intel is in should mark it, but it's not to hard to find anyway.
Also for anyone who ever needs more money, just sell your rare metal stocks. That's basically all they're there for.
Precious Metal is used for some late game upgrades. Researching the max CGM rocket launcher upgrade costs 4000 precious metal for example (and 200 to deploy)
As I said before it's really useful for just convenience sake. Cause if you order him to fulton someone he'll also fulton everyone else in the area who you've knocked out.

i can appreciate why it got cut, i just wish it didn't make the editing seem so awkward in the ending there
OH NO WE'RE HEADED RIGHT FOR NEW YORK
WELP, HERE WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF NEW YORK

How I did Mission 8
C4 in the road to take care of the first tank
Mortar to take care of the second tank
Chased the truck with D-Horse until I ran across an empty rocket launch vehicle, stole that and blew the truck away
Leisurely drove out of hot zone in armored vehicle
My only real beef with the controls in the game is too often the same button will perform two different actions in common circumstances.
Pick up weapon/body
climb/activate/fulton
It's supposed to be a long press for the alternate but mine frequently just activates on the short pull even when holding the button down. Dunno if it's just my controller tho.

Yeah, you need the Cargo 1 upgrade for those and the Cargo 2 upgrade for crates/tanks/AA guns

Yeah this annoys me too. Especially wanting to put a body down and you pick up a weapon.
Then you have to pick it up again because it swapped out your customised awesome sauce weapon.
It's not good.
Trying to use a search light can be a real pain in the ass too, they're really finicky.

When a mission points out an upgrade, you don't have to do that mission, you can just freeroam in the mission area and find it.

That didn't work for me for the Ddog related one.
It didn't spawn except in that mission.
So at the very least you may need to have unlocked the mission. I was searching before getting up to the relevant one.

I killed a guy and threw his dead body in the middle of the road, which made the convoy come to a halt, then I came up from behind and Fultoned 'em all

I eventually got fed up trying to fulton the truck and just shot the dudes in it, and used it for cover from the tank so I could sneak-fulton it.
My mother base is in the red
What do I need to do?
selling plants is an easy way to make money - everything except for haoma is fairly common and sells for 500 or 1000 apiece
if you have the cargo upgrades for the fulton, the emplacements and vehicles sell for a little more than they cost to extract, though that's not very high-profit
and when you extract from the open world, just choose "return to ACC" from the menu and you'll go directly there without having to pay for the helicopter extraction (though you'll lose all progress since your last checkpoint)
although the fastest way to make money is to finish missions. going into the red mid-mission isn't a big deal since you're all but guaranteed to get back into the black once you clear the mission
Are there any other anesthesia specialists in the game? Mine died for no reason that I can find.
Yep.
The main mission objective prisoner you extract in Angels with Broken Wings is an Anesthesia Specialist and remains so when you repeat the mission.
He died for me too, so I went and got him again.

Also, a photo shoot: (Spoilers for post 31)
the base you infiltrate has mortars, that's what I used
as far as Mother Base being in the red, that's bad but it's not so pressing that you need to DROP EVERYTHING AND DEAL WITH IT RIGHT AWAY
just beat the mission and that'll almost certainly get you back into the black

what the fuck is that uniform you have on D-Dog
That's the fulton upgrade. Lets you send him out to fulton dudes. It's a hidden one, you have to get a secret pickup in a mission.
