I miss South Korean intertubes dearly.
EDIT - Except the part where I have to VPN to an American server just to appear American. Also, Korean internet is so heavily censored I had to VPN out just to watch a Youtube playthrough of Silence of the Sleep.

So...picking away at the backlog. Topaz on Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved is still proving a touch too tough for me, so i set that aside, and glancing through the easy to jump into stuff in my backlog decided to give Not a Hero another go. Only to discover it doesn't want to play well with the XBox1 controller i've got...saa...so that'll go back on the backlog backburner for awhile.
So, just incase anyone else was thinking of it (and isnae a KBAM'er or using a different controller), that might be a point to consider.
Maybe i'll give Saviours a try.
[addendum] Saviours is hard. And reminds me of something i played way back on the Genesis, though i couldnae for the life of me tell you what it was called[/addendum]

Granted, most of them are bad, but you still have games like Bulletstorm.
I have a couple of friends who have given their respective kids game-related names (confirmed to me to be deliberate) but managed to do so with great subtlety. One has a surname beginning with S, and so named her son so his initials were NES. The other named his first son with the first name Max, middle name Samuel, in honour of the Sam & Max games.
So there are in fact ways to do it without being horrible to your kid!

Huh, I didn't know that Canabalt had a Steam release. I enjoyed playing the flash version in my browser years ago.

So I cleared out a couple scrap locations and scarecrows.
Wow, that is a lot easier than trying to keep track of a dozen emails. Wish I thought of doing that before.
Seems I have a few unredeemed gifts as well.
The Steam version has no leaderboards (which is kinda lazy), and the GFWL version can't be activated anymore because it was removed from Securom, and you can't get a key. I put hundreds of hours into the challenge rooms. I made it to the top of a few predator room leader boards. All those... records... will be lost, in time, like...tears in the rain.

I'm pretty much the same, I head off towards a mission and then there are 5 scrap locations on the way so I figure I might as well do those first, then there are only 5 scrap locations left in that region so I might as well do those and by that time I've forgotten all about doing a muffin mission
I mean, I'm not even mad cause I'm having fun but at the same time I wanna finish it already! :P
I still gotta start up Metal Gear Solid V and next month is doing another load of games on me. What a time to be a gamer.

I would do unspeakable things for them to add similar enhancements (upped resolution, mouselook) to Ultima Underworld I & II.

I played crawl at a friends house once and it was such a blast. Been dying for it to have a proper sale price so I can own it so hard. One day my precious. One day. Not sure I'd pay a fiver for it right now tho.

I haven't played System Shock 1 since I was 16. Very very good game that was ahead of its time, but now it might suffer a bit due to modern control sensibilities.
I believe this is patched to include a more modern mouselook-based control scheme as well, so you don't have to deal with ASDX tank controls, Z-X strafing, RFV pitch, QWE lean, and all that other sorts of crazy (albeit inventive) stuff.
Clash of Heroes is $2.50. It is a fun match three game with interesting mechanics and an engaging enough story using the younger characters of the heroes from 4 or 5? I found it rather fun.
I have no experience with the rest.
Does anyone know if any of the DLC is any good?

All that parenting talk yesterday reminded me of diving over the couch to liberate the remote from my niece before she could use OnDemand. I failed and she watched the lion documentary with her parents. Thinking of this inspired me to do something.....
But that's not important
What is important is.....fuck @mere_immortal is already giving out two of them.
Meh
Thanks so much! I have lots of memories from Gauntlet Legends on N64 (many a late night birthday party was had) and look forward to firing up this new iteration.
A PC dungeon-crawling version of Pac Man VS? Awesome.
Pac-Man Vs was so brilliant.

I really need to get some friends over and dust off my Gamecube copy of Pac Man VS. one day. I had a blast with it when it came out, and it's a lot of fun showing it to people who have never heard of it before. And there are a LOT of people who haven't. It's a great little casual game, though, and I'm not sure if Crawl fits into that. I can't honestly say either way since I haven't played it, but it strikes me as a little more advanced compared to Pac Man VS.

Essentially it is a very competent Smash clone with a lot of crazy ideas and GBA style graphics. Both local and online multiplayer (though I haven't tried the online yet myself). Pretty solid and fun so far, the gameplay is more reminiscent of melee, fairly quick and combos are a distinct possibility, but it also seems pretty easy to pick up and play. All the characters seem pretty fun and have their own particular gimmick (though Zetterburn is probably the easiest to pick up and play). Think they want to have eight characters by launch (six currently).
