As a followup to my "fan of boobs" comment, I have enough monies in my Steam wallet to buy either Sakura Fantasy OR Sakura Beach, but not both. I know there are a bunch of visual novel fans here; has anyone played both to have an opinion? Pixie?
@baudattitude - having finished both I can say this: Sakura Beach is straight anime porn and only about a half hour long (no staying power there. ba dum tish!). It's also absolutely inane in terms of story. Pure trash.
Sakura Spirit actually has a story, is actually kind of interesting, but also may not satisfy the devoted FAN OF BOOBS since it's strictly PG-level innuendo and teasing.
Somewhere more in the middle would be Sakura Fantasy. Maybe check that one out?
edit: at work, misread Spirit in place of Fantasy. So yeah, check out Fantasy. Boobs and a decent story.
Ugh. Disregard that entirely. I should not post from work apparently.
I was confusing Sakura Beach with Beach Bounce. Sakura Beach I haven't played yet for more than a few minutes. Beach Bounce is the one that's total pr0n trash.
Apologies for the confusion.
Still gonna recommend Fantasy though, so I guess it's not an entirely wasted post.
In case anybody missed it... Life is Strange episode 5 comes out tomorrow.
It's actually coming out in about 5 minutes.
...
Then why did the patch I just downloaded say "In preparation for tomorrow's Episode 5 launch..."
Grr.
It's technically the 20th in some places (dont nod are French) . It's launching at 16:01 the 19th for the US. Which was a couple minutes ago. So they're behind the times. But it should be up fairly shortly.
Luckily my avatar already happens to have a skull and abit of cannibalism so I think I'm good to go.
Eating people is in the spirit of Halloween, right?
I play wood elves in Elder Scrolls games. And one of my favorite Skyrim mods I made was a full-blown cannibalism mod, complete with dozens of recipes...
So...while i wouldnae say the bloom has fallen off the rose for me with BL:tPS, my ardor has cooled enough to allow me to consider playing other things alongside of laying down significant amounts of hurt with Nisha.
So...looking though my backlog, i keep wanting to give another go at Not a Hero. The last time i tried, it decided that it really didnae like my Xbox One controller (would lock me into firing, couldnae reload, or...jump as well, if i remember right). i seem to remember it got an update maybe last week. Anyone playing it recently notice if they worked the kinks out on that front?
Also, as an aside...i just realized (probably for the umpteenth time) that living on this side of the planet puts me on the wrong side of the date time for releases. i won't be able to play Episode 5 of Tales from BL until (my) 21st...and Afterbirth until (i guess) very early morning of Halloween. *sigh* At least it'll be a holiday.

Here's hoping for a decent sale now that all episodes are out. The first episode was cool and I need to grab the season pass for the rest.
It's also nice that a bunch of episodic games are getting completed at last so I can finally play them like Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones. I usually rather wait for them to be done instead of playing an episode every couple of months (LIS was kinda the exception). At least they've been releasing them at a fairly steady rate unlike KR0 and Dreamfall Chapters.

My decision is made! Thank you
And...yeeesh, looking at the Bounce game. Even I have some standards, low as they may be.
Edit: and wow, you DID make my decision for me. Thank you for the copy of Sakura Fantasy!
For those who have their Steam Link already, or who know about such things.
Does it support wireless keyboards? Headsets? How do I do text and voice chat with this thing when it arrives?
From the page:
Supports Steam Controller (sold separately,) Xbox One or 360 Wired Controller, Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows, Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710, or keyboard and mouse
Additionally, it's apparently been confirmed to support PS3, PS4, and WiiU Pro controllers.
For headsets, etc, it will probably require it use Bluetooth, but I believe it should support it.
I wish I could chose which episode of TellTale games to install. I don't really need 7gb of previous Borderlands episodes just to finish of episode 5 tomorrow.

Sweet. Ordered me a cheap wireless keyboard for the living room.

May have missed the chat but how LOUD is the steam controller? Very clickety clackety? Part of my anxiety is noise sensitivity to noises I cant control so it may bother me a lot.
I would say it's pretty loud. Especially when you click the track pads. The paddles on the under side are like loud mouse clicks. And the haptic feedback can click too on the track pads. So if mouse is a major concern, I would recommend trying it in person first.
As for the Steam Link, I just tried playing bit trip runner which is a pretty demanding game regarding latency, the lag felt more noticeable right away compared to the 2 minutes I tried with mad max. This is over Wi-Fi with the router in the basement and the Link is on the second floor so take that for what it's worth. I haven't noticed any significant graphical issues though do this might be ideal for games like telltale or turn based.

Does it support them natively or do I need dongles and such? It would be super cool to play local coop with a DS4, an XB1 pad, and a 360 pad without a bynch of extra stuff hanging off of the Steam Link that I want to purchase in the nebulous future.

Guessing it means the dongle that comes with the headset/controller.

Well, Zestiria seems to be broken out of the gate. Crash on launch which seems like it might be related to having a 7.1 headset (but I don't have the ambition tonight to do serious troubleshooting so, wait-for-a-patch it is!).
Also, speaking of Zestiria... for the next month you can get a free "Alisha's Story additional chapter" Steam key by claiming it here. I tested it, works fine.
After November 19th, it will cost money so - grab it now.

So, I grabbed this for when I get the game. Now, english isn't my first language but I'm pretty sure the confirmation message is making fun of me.
Zestiria crash was fixed for me by disabling a third party audio program. Nahamic in my case, but I figured it out from other people saying they disable Razer Something or Other.

Basically it doesn't like fancy audio it seems.
All I have for audio is the logitech software for my surround headset. If I disable that, I have no sound at all. I could switch the headset from USB to the Realtek onboard sound instead, but then I'd have to re-enable that in the device manager, probably fuss with drivers, and then switch it all back when I play something else... that's way too much effort for one game.
Bloodrayne 1 & 2 for a dollar each? People should get on that.
This.
(The eagle-eyed or stalker-ish amongst you might notice I don't have them on Steam. That's 'cos I have them on GOG.)
They're very old now (2002 and 2004), but they're good solid action games with ranged and melee combat and a lot of blood & gore. BR1's the one with the Nazi-slaughtering (although not in the initial chapter) and goes just gloriously over-the-top at various points; BR2 adds some cool intricacy to melee while toning down the guns, and is a bit platformy in a good way (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was an obvious influence), and has a more coherent story. The two stories are only very tenuously connected (BR1, weirdly, instead of setting the scene is in fact a total side-story!) so just playing one or the other is fine if only one appeals to you. They are surprisingly different from each other, really.
Also, naturally, they fit (to a point) with the "boobs" discussion above, I suppose. Now, speaking of which, what's this about Sakura Fantasy...

apparently you just need to disable the 7.1, not possible to dumb it down to stereo or 5.1 for a while??

Nope, the Logitech G430 doesn't let you dumb it down at all.

Huh, I never did finish the first BloodRayne, which I had on Gamecube. I was probably about halfway through before stopping for whatever reason, It definitely didn't hook me like it hooked Jazz. Definitely some fun to be had in there at the time, though.
I downloaded the demo for BloodRayne 2 when it came out, but at that point my first self-built PC couldn't run it very well, so I stopped paying attention to the series.
I got the 2D sidescroller game on XBLA a few years ago and while it looks nice, it just felt bland to me.

As far as "switching it all back" to play something else... might I suggest Soundswitch? Tiny, free program that lets you hotswap between audio devices really easily. It won't switch audio sources between a game already running (you still have to restart a game for that), but I use it all the time to swap from my headphones to my speakers to share a Youtube video with the girlfriend, then swap back to my headset.
