Ah this thread popped back right when someone is getting all my attention.
I won't lie, I didn't know who King Los was, but 2 weeks ago I was I listening to Freestyles. And this is crazy.
At the end he says that the Black Thought freestyle made him realize he needed to make his mark.
The last part of the second verse is an amazing mix of storystelling from his own history, pure bars and lyricism, and a punchline that hits real hard because the setup is immaculate.
And the second half of the third verse is the kind of righteous anger that wakes people up.
Last part of second verse
My city full of hustlers, you seen their demeanor
88 dope boy, clean in a Beamer
But it's deeper than a four finger, ring in his beeper
When his mamma was a crackhead that thinks she was a diva
And his daddy was a hothead for the cream, with a fever
You just tryna' live life, nobody gets your plight
But you on teams with the reaper
The bitter consequences seem sweeter and sweeter
To be an achiever, duck three from the heater
Plus the prison population got the streets in the sleeper
But you a smooth criminal, you can make that quarter flip
And off one hit, you could turn a king to a leaner
Where my cousin made sixty million, and couldn't quit
It's a thin line between a fuckin' fiend and a dreamer, nigga

Make your middle son listen to Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar instead.
I'm trying! They don't have fun YouTube videos of their family and that's what hooks him.
He'll get there. Just need to mature a little.

(I keep finding most of this stuff from Trackstar DJ's sets on Shade45.)
I bring news of the impending death of mumble rap:
My favorite is the one with 5'9". Sheeran's isn't bad either.
I saw Tyler live on NYE. It was pretty great.
Anyway. Have a great day.

This is the best they've sounded and lyrically they've never been better.
Listened on repeat since it came out Wednesday.

I remember pressing play and thinking that 10 minutes meant the back-half must be some discussion about a good line or two.
NOPE.
