Gif editing software

CasualCasual Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle Flap Flap Flap Registered User regular
Hey I'm looking to start playing around editing some gifs and would like recommendations for any free software out there that allows me to edit individual frames.

Any help or advice for optimization to keep the file sizes down would be cool too.

Thanks!

I believe GIMP lets you do that.

I use GIMP for my animated gifs, at any rate.

GIMP is probably the best unless you want to pay for photoshop

not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me

    Gimp method I used

    Multiple frames in a project

    Each layer named like so:

    Layer 1 (100 ms)
    Layer 2 (100 ms)
    Layer 3 (100 ms)

    Export as .gif

That is a very simple and rough method. VERY SIMPLE, VERY ROUGH. There are guides to do more fancy things, but I hope this simple starting guide helps

You can add (replace) after the frame timing to make it so it doesn't cumulate frames but replace frames instead.

    V. useful if your gif has transparency.
