    So in short, no.

    :P

You can look at previous years coins, and what their artwork looked like compared to final coin, but that's about it.

Whoa now... colors or a different size? Shouldn't we be keeping these uniform with older coins?

    • Happy as is
    • Less dice. Maybe one large die instead of so many because it would look cluttered engraved that way, and the colored idea looked very goofy to me.

    • Add video game symbols (atari, nintendo, etc)
    • Would like to have video games on there
    • add video game elements to it please
    • Alamo is cool, I like the dice colors but don't want video games left out. Is there a way to do half and half?

So, with the results in mind. It looks like a fair number of people would like some form of video game system added. We can go back to the Make Your Selection thing I made or we can look at another option.

People aren't a huge fan of colour on coins...personally, that's a disappointment for me. I have a few Canadian coins that have colour all over them and they look awesome (like this one). But, if that is the will of the people, so be it :)

People would also like the same size as most of the other PAX coins.

A ribbed edge was the clear choice for the coin.

Antique bronze was the winner for the finish...but, if you look at it as types of metal. Types of Bronze were 9 and types of Gold were 12. So, that may be something to consider.

Also, I will be camping most of next week, starting Saturday, and will not be near the internet. Just an FYI :)

Hello all. It has been kind of quiet in the forums.

What are people thinking about the coin? We only have about 60 days to go!

A little sad that the Alamo side won't be colored in, but I'll get over it. Just waiting for the opportunity to order one.

I say send it to the company and let them do their mock up for us. We can take another vote once that is complete.

  • fishfishmonkeyhatfishfishmonkeyhat Freelance Pin Man Newcastle, AustraliaRegistered User regular
The mock-up will look like this so it won't really tell you much more about the design short of what will be 3D or not.

How do we get the coin? Are they for sale only, rather than being earned?

  • RILMSRILMS North BayRegistered User regular
I sent an e-mail to Kiddercorp. Now we wait.

For now, it'll be for sale...I know if PAX Aus, there was somewhere where you could earn them...but I would have to see if the PAX South people would want to do that

Last year for South, it was purchase only. @fishfishmonkeyhat ran the Aus coin. Don't remember anything about earning them.

  • RILMSRILMS North BayRegistered User regular
Would people be interested in having a limited edition colour coin?

For those people who have missed out on a Challenge coin there will be one given away each day as a prize in the informal Johann Sebastian Joust Tournaments at 5:00pm each day.

    Edit:
There is now a signup for these tournaments in the Joust area (see maps). Currently this is on the back of the whiteboard in the Joust area. Signup for the Friday tournament has just started.

Not really show how it worked....do you know @fishfishmonkeyhat ?

I assume the person running that bought a bunch to give away there? That was the first I heard about it.

I would be. The Texas Pinball Festival does a color one and it looks really cool.

I'm throwing my hat (and wallet) in for a limited edition color coin!

Also, please note: I saw that it size 2 and let them know we wanted the coin to be 1.75 inches. They are also working on a coloured version.

So is the coin going to be Antique Bronze still? Or gold?

  • RILMSRILMS North BayRegistered User regular
They will be gold. The majority of people voted for some type of cold coin

The results on the first page have "Antique Bronze: 8" listed as the winner of the finish question though?

I only bring it up because I thought our coin could have used some more texture if we'd had more planning time so the designs stood out better.

True, The winner for one type was Antique Bronze, but more people voted for gold over all as a metal. So, I decided to go with that (mixed member voting over first past the post voting).

Heard back from Kiddercorp with regards to price (Note: May change depending on what we do)

"We would intend to price these similar to the other coins we have done for PAX. Basically the coins would be $5/each with shipping added depending on the QTY ordered and location.

The color version will be more, but only slightly more ($6/each). We can do both provided there is enough interest (50+ of each version)."

That's reasonable price wise, now we'd just need the demand

I'll probably buy a total of about 10 of the coins. The color sounds nice so a mix of the two. I gave some out last year at random to my friends that were going.

  • Only_TrinityOnly_Trinity Registered User regular
Id like a few for myself. Want to give some to my friends that can't go

  • RILMSRILMS North BayRegistered User regular
I plan on buying one of each for me, one of each for my sister in Canada, and at least 6 to give out as thanks for random acts of kindness...or something (2 a day)

    OtyHMcu.jpg
  • giantrygiantry Registered User regular
I would get at least 1 of each probably 2.
