Yep. Not complaining about the light level, tinfoil hat my RNGesus and decrypt everything in the 280s. I'd much rather have the 310 exotics as well. It's just been a very long time since I've seen a primary or heavy above 295.

Yeah, that's the big drawback of Infusion really. It's tied to RNG a lot more than I thought it would be. I almost feel as though the best way to infuse things will be to run the raid on multiple alts and start getting doubles / triples of raid drops, which seem to always be above 300.

Im running 267 light at the moment, at what point should i start working on this sword quest thing

If I'm not mistaken, you get the regular sword quest after you've finished Act 1 of the Taken King storyline (after Regicide, and then the mission where you unlock the Dreadnaught patrolling.

After that, Eris will direct you to Shaxx, who will need Hadium flakes (found in the chests on the Dreadnaught, you need 25 of them, bring a Hunter or invite a Hunter over).

You will then get your sword.

To get the exotic one, you will need to infuse your sword until it's 280 or higher, AND it needs to be fully leveled.

Shaxx will give you another quest, where you need 10 rare materials (they drop around once every 10 non-chest nodes) and a lot of ability kills. This will take a pretty long time. You can do this at any level of light.

After that, you have to wait till Armsday.

The hardest part is the final quest/battle, which is a 300 Light Level battle, and you'll want to bring your strongest friends. But then again, the rewards is a 310 sword.

So you can do almost eveything at a reasonably low light level, it's the final step where LL matters the most.

There going to nerf that dead orbit scout rifle, aren't they?

I think I want to try and go for it, as hawkmoon is crap at medium/long range, and I received 2 raid weapons and they don't seem as good as that DO scout.

The Raid weapons seem underwhelming, especially the Rocket Launcher, mine rolled with One Man Army, so no Tracking, Cluster Bomb or Grenades & Horseshoes.

Other than Cocoon which is nice for the raid itself and the +damage to Taken enemies, they dont seem that great really, I've taken a liking to the Pulse Rifle, it just feels like it should do more damage.

No idea why the Raid Autorifle is such ass though, the recoil is way too high, hoping the Scout Rifle is good with Full Auto, I've only gotten one with Rangefinder.

The only thing that VoC had over HJ is that it was full auto with Solar damage. So really, the only thing it had over it was Solar damage. (Full Auto was something I almost never took advantage of with it.) Plus the HJ just looks so much better. I love the liquid indicator for how much ammo is left in the mag.

Oh boy, I am really regretting doing the Void Exotic Sword quest on my Nightstalker. I'm at the "Kill Enemies with Void Abilities" part of the quest, and it's awful.

First, the Smoke Bomb with Envenomed doesn't do Void damage, so I'm already out a melee ability.

Second, it looks like killing enemies tethered by a Void Anchor does not count. It only counts if you kill them with the initial Shadowshot, which means I get a maximum of three kills per Super if I use Quiver (and manage to land all three hits).

That just leaves me with grenades, and a comparatively low-kill Super. I foresee myself dropping many Voidwalls on Thrall in "The Dark Beyond."

Pro Tip: Do your Dark-Drinker quest with a Voidwalker Warlock, because doing it with a Nightstalker or a Defender sucks.

The Raid Scout, Shotgun, and Machine Gun all seem pretty swell to me, assuming you get a decent final perk. And Cocoon is especially great on the Machine Gun, which has an awful natural reload time.

That said, it's not like Crota had any seriously coveted weaponry besides Black Hammer, so I'm not that surprised most King's Fall guns are mediocre.

I think they are trying to avoid Fatebringers and VoCs this time around. It feels as though a lot of weapons are situational now. There are certain situations where they are really really good and others... not so much. Some weapons make encounters like Oryx almost trivial. Outside of the raid though, they are outclassed by vendor weapons.

Machinegun seems nice provided you take all the -reload perks and just rely on Cocoon to reload it, I got one with Persistence yesterday, seems pretty good.

Problem is if the Heroic KF primary weapons are just the same stuff with elemental properties.

Yeah? I kind of feel cocoon is interesting but ultimately useless. In burn phases no one is choosing these weapons to front load damage and after burn phases are done we all have the whole second it takes to reload better weapons. Unless there's some crazy phases in hard mode that won't allow reloading or even slower reloading this perk is wasted in light of better weapons in my opinion.

    On Warpriest...
Due to the fact that Shadowshot makes the Spindle not proc the precision damage properly, I rotate through my primary/heavy until the Shadowshot runs out, starting with my heavy. Once it does I swap to the Spindle until the end. So I don't reload my weapons ever during that part.

When you get Braced Frame, it helps a lot. It still kicks a lot, but as Celian said, weapons are far more situational now. For instance, I used my raid AR on the 270 Fear's Embrace last night to get my Touch of Malice. I was dropping Taken like they were nothing with it because of the bonus damage against Taken enemies. That said, I would be hesitant to use the thing on, say, the Shield Brothers strike.

This is probably easier said than done, but if you can do a mission where you know there are going to be many blights spawning with enemies that spawn directly on the blight itself, you can drop a Spike Grenade right underneath it just before the enemies spawn. They typically have no chance at all to get out of the way and you can get like 5 kills from one Blight. I haven't done it myself, but I was dropping Spike Grenades on Blights last night in Fear's Embrace and it seemed to work pretty well.

The cocoon thing so far has mostly been really nice on the rocket launcher I got. It came with tracking as well so sorry @Sirialis

Specifically for the Oryx fight where
You get summoned into the dome and have to fight the shade
Its really nice to be able to fire two rockets, switch to my primary or secondary, unload and then switch back to my rocket launcher and already have two rockets ready to go

Well, that and I haven't had a raid weapon I've even remotely liked yet. Hopefully cocoon won't be required in hard, but I do have a feeling it will.

What is awesome and I don't think enough folks appreciate this.... but we're all using different load outs and enjoying multiple weapons differently. I need to kill some rank 2 and 3 jerkwads in the court for Calcified whatsits; anyone down for some of that on the Xbox One before raid this week so I can maybe finish up my OP scout rifle? I need 8 more fragments; one I can knock out tonight via the Scent is the key chest. I'll have a charged Agonarch rune in a day or so for that one leaving me with 6 more to go. I have an antiquated rune so that's one, and a quest for a stolen rune...but will need to charge it, and then buy a few more if I don't see any as a drop while doing all this.

I might luck out and the Darkblade or Brothers are the nightfall this week and hopefully both are fragment droppers. (Darkblade is for sure, people figure the brothers are as well.)

I just don't understand how damage is calculated in the crucible -.-

    @florada34

Hey man, I don't think this was addressed.

Normal Crucible, which is anything outside of Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris, comprises most of the stuff in the Crucible playlist. Normal/Regular Crucible uses "normalized stats". In other words, your level, light level, attack, defense etc don't matter. Defensively, everyone has 200 hp, Offensively, the Impact stat on your gun is what is used to calculate damage, not the attack. You can kill just as effectively in Crucible with the starter Khvostov AR you find in the beginning area of the game, as compared to a brand new An Answering Chord.

Perks on BOTH armor and weapons are in effect. Stats, which are your Intellect/Discipline/Strength modifiers from armor, are also in effect. Want to super more often? Max that Int. Want to punch more often? Max the Str. Love to grenade and have a arm piece with extra grenade energy on melee? Sure that will work and so on. Same with weapon perks.

In general, you will notice that weapons tend to fall into one of several categories in regards to Impact. I will use TTK Scout Rifles as an example.
Scout Rifles generally fall into three tiers, 37, 48, and 61 Impact archetypes. This basically means low, medium and high damage per shot. In Crucible you will see damage on these guns look like this:

    NL Shadow 701X - 29 body, 43 head
    Hung Jury SR1 - 41 body, 61 head
    Last Extremity - 49 body, 73 head

And so on. This applies to most weapons, especially Primary Weapons. If you compare damage between your various weapons, you will probably see two or three in the same archetype. Scouts, ARs, and Pulse Rifles all have a low, medium and high damage type. Hand Cannons do as well but I'm not as conversant in Hand Cannons.

So using the above damage values on Scouts, you can see that the medium and high damage tiers both kill an opponent in 5 bodyshots, but the medium type kills in 4 headshots, while the high damage type kills in 3 to the head. Remember, everyone has 200 hp.

For Special Weapons, archetypes exist also, but effective ranges are much more pronounced. Shotguns especially are lethal in their preferred range and near-useless outside it. Shotguns and Fusion Rifles are oneshot kills in their optimal ranges, Sniper Rifles are always oneshots on headshots and 2-shot to the body. Sidearms are a bit of an odd duck, and not fully explored yet, they seem to excel just out of shotgun range but are finicky to use.

Grenades can oneshot, but explosion ranges and damage types matter. Most of the sticky nades will oneshot on a stick, others do a wide range of damage depending on proximity to the explosion and so on. Two melee attacks will usually kill, assuming one is a fully charged melee, but in most cases it's safer to open with a shotgun blast or other close combat weapon first, then melee for the kill.

That's a general primer on damage ranges. let me know if you have any other questions. Hope that helps.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

Anyone want to do hard mode croata tomorrow night at about 8PM Arizona time for the PS4?

It'd probably help to not call it "Arizona time zone" and pick a more used one like pacific, central or eastern. Hah.

Also, joining the100 is a good way to set this stuff up and be more visible to the community.

A quick google search will take care of time zone issues and I have no idea what the100 is.

Sure? I guess? Just offering a suggestion that will make people not have to google time zones, especially considering Arizona is stupid with time zones.

The100.io is a website you can start a group with a start time and people join. Ben is one of the guys who can probably get you a spot in the PA group.

Alright Friday crew, who's up for another run? I think we got things down well last week, so I'm pretty confident we can knock it out in one go this time.

Actually, I was part of the cleanup crew on Saturday. Bubs was (I believe) the original member on Friday. Plus, Friday night is my meatspace game night, so I won't be around anyways. But thanks for thinking of me!

Was I in on this run? I can't remember.

6:00 is an hour early for me, so it's kind of irrelevant, but I'll sign up as a reserve just in case.

@hoodie13 I was going to try and set up an Oryx kill for my friend tonight. Our raid got to Oryx and called it for the night and I think everyone killed Oryx in a separate group (I know I did). He has the checkpoint, so as long as he's down tonight, I'll send you an invite. Of course, if you can get it done before that, go for it!

@Fawst I still have the Oryx checkpoint if you need it, and I'd love to get him dead this week. Let me know if you have a spot for me?
