On Outer Haven, all of the guards are on permanent caution, so you either need silenced weapons or the standard "tranq everyone" before going ahead. You can use heavy weapons on the Gekko as long as you're hidden, just watch for the sniper's on overwatch above the watertight door.

I’m getting into Peace Walker these days, catching up on the MG I’ve never played while thankfully I don’t have to get into Survive to get my ‘Gear

PW is way better than I thought it’d be. I’ve kinda been side-eyeing it for 8 years thinking it looked like a tediously complicated and deep and long game but it’s surprisingly addictive and digestible with how short and rewarding the missions are.

I just hope it starts bringing the Metal Gear craziness to a deeper degree than “singing robots”.

I've just started replaying phantom pain the past week, and I'm probably gonna replay either 3 or pw after that. It's been real fun going back to phantom pain, I put like 120 hours into it first time around and feel like I could just about do that much again. It's also nice because my mental health went all shit literally the day that pp came out so its held kind of a weird place in my memory because of that

Anybody who's familiar with Peace Walker, am I screwed if I've been in negative GMP for the past 5-6 missions? I've been going hard at the Outer Ops and it's not always going my way (plus I really did bungle a bunch of early ones as I was learning the systems). I'm up to the Cocoon fight (which I haven't tried yet).

Just wondering if I should stop and grind for a bit or just push onwards until I get stuck and then grind.

    Push until you get stuck

The boss fights are really the only place where you'll be feeling the lack of upgraded gear, and even then it's mostly fine

That is frankly disturbing on a number of levels.

The notion that when I think a word in my inner monologue, that that produces a readable signal, is both fascinating and terrifying.

But more importantly this fixes the the weird bits in MGS2 where they use the codec to talk in person silently.

The music is great too, although Calling to the Night edges out Heaven's Divide as my favorite "sung" theme.

Oh my god the next Splinter Cell needs to just hire David Hayter to call Sam Fisher and urge him to retire too and Sam is like NOPE and then the game starts.

I want the Clancyverse so fucking bad now. I had no idea how much I needed it.

With that Rainbow 6 "Outbreak" thing they gave a lot of the operators personality and voice acting and stuff. I loved it.

    Now this...?

Let this mission be a prequel to the next Splinter Cell, which has a mission where he's infiltrating something without alerting Rainbow 6, who's extracting a hostage at the same time.

Then give me that mission in Rainbow 6.

    CLANCYVERSE!

I never actually finished any MGS games after 2.
I got them all (except peace walker, or any side games), but i never finished them.

I got to the bee dude on 3rd, and where the sub appears on 4, but did not really play past that.
On 5 i got where i defeated the metal gear and just went "right, this is good" and never went past that.

I honestly can't think of worse places to stop in each of those games.

E: Assuming you're referring to the first metal gear fight in 5 and not the last. The last would kind of sort of work as an ending.

I mean where you drag the metal gear to your base as a trophy.
I just figured, only way from here is down, and i don't really give a fuck about the story at this point.

The final level of co-op in Splinter Cell: Double Agent is my favorite online gaming moment ever.

That's basically the climax of the story, though the falling action and denouement go on a hell of a lot longer than one would expect. I knew better than to expect much of the story right from the jump, but I kept going hundreds of hours after that point for the huge amount of unlockable equipment and constant discovery of new gameplay options.
