I really like Zubat. It doesn't do much early on, but it's nothing that can't be quickly fixed with a few levels. For the story part of the game any pokemon is a good pokemon anyway. Plus Crobat is cute.

Okay, so. Let me see if I understand.

Right now, Sub is a Move Tutor move. Because of that, it can't be transferred by breeding, so Mr. Mime can't teach it to a baby Cacnea.

However, in DP, Sub is a TM. So, once those two Pokemon are transferred over, Mr. Mime can teach Sub to Cacnea.

    Is this accurate?

Also, you know what? Mr. Mime needs an evolution.

I hate Golbat though. Luckily it usually evolves into Crobat the very next level.

Crobat is my second favourite Pokemon. I was so happy when I caught a shiny Golbat in LeafGreen. <3

I'm fairly desperate to get ahold of a Tortwig to accompany a Chimchar, because I cannot bring myself to choose between the two when this comes out. I could care less about Piplup and his snooty evolutions, but those two would make my experience complete.

Is there anyone who could trade me a Tortwig? I could survive without it, but it would be a critical hit, so to speak.

    Super Effective.

    I gladly will.

Hey, by the way, which starter is the easiest to plow through the main game with? Or have I been oblivious to the fact that there hasn't been a "best" starter since Generation I?

I'm sure any of them are good if you level the shit out of them. In the old days I pretty much had only Charizard and like two or three other guys doing all the work.

Oh, I can tell that they're all potentially good. What I'm asking is which one works the best for the one-player. For instance, it was best to choose Bulbasaur in RBY because he was resistant to the Pokemon of the first 3 gyms, and if I recall he also leveled the fastest.

Basically I want to beat the main game as quick as possible so I can get down to the meat of it.

Leaf type pokemans have the sheer audacity to be good throughout the game.

    I prefer water-types, regardless.

    Question No. 3:
Is Starly as incredibly excellent as I believe it is?

*sniff* I remember the old days, adventuring on with my Venusaur, first out, last to fall.

Makes me want to choose a Turtwig this time around.

Whoa, I knew moves got the occasional power change, but I didn't know they'll be getting PP changes as well! For example, Recover has gone from 20 to 10. I wonder where those PP Up will be going.....Hmm.....

I think that was just the starters, though.

The single-player game relies, and always has relied almost exclusively on sheer power. You don't need a lot of fancy strategies, meaning that Annoyers, the bread and butter of Grass types, aren't very useful. It's too much easier just to sweep your way through. And until D/P, Grass has been completely lacking in that department.

This time, Woodhammer FTW. It's the reason I had such a hard time deciding between Chimchar and Tortwig.

There was some tiff, and they fired all the voice actors, and hired new ones that aren't as good.

Although considering how long the show has been on, Ash's balls should have dropped 7 years ago.

    "It's a good 40+ hours"

...right. I just checked and I have 132 hours on my Ruby cart, and I still haven't completed my Pokedex.

40 hours my ass. Pokemon (along with Advance Wars, oh and I guess FFTA if you're into that) is one of the few handheld games that lasts (and stays insanely addictive and enjoyable) well over a hundred hours. No need to chuck it in with the standard 40-hour crowd.

I have close to 50 on my Emerald, and that was just running through the story, catching Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, and the Regis, and stocking up on items to send to Pearl. Pretty much around the time of the fifth Gym, I stopped catching Pokemon and just raised my team. And I didn't do any sidequests other than these six Legendaries and the Trick House to get the PP Max. Completely ignored the Battle Frontier, didn't bother with Latias/Latios, and I barely even went in the Safari Zone.

    40 hours my foot.
