Heavy - Increases weapon STR scalling, removes dex scalling, slightly reduces weapon base damage
Sharp - Increases weapon DEX scalling, reduces weapon STR scalling, slightly reduces weapon base damage
Refined - Evens STR and DEX scalling, like Quality path in Demon Souls ( Weapon with scalling A/C/-/- after refined infusion will have B/B/-/-), slightly reduces weapon base damage
Raw - Increases weapon base damage (about 40%), removes all scalling.
Crystal - Adds magic damage to weapon, adds INT scalling to weapon, reduces STR/DEX scalling, moderate reduction of weapon base damage
Fire - Adds fire damage, Increases weapon base damage, removes all scalling from weapon
Blessed - Slightly decreases weapon base damage, decreases STR/DEX scalling, weapon physical damage now scalles also with FAITH, adds slow health regeneration
Deep - Adds dark damage, Increases weapon base damage, removes all scalling from weapon
Poison - Adds poison effect to the weapon, reduces weapon scallings, slightly reduces weapon base damage.
Hollow - Slightly decreases weapon base damage, decreases STR/DEX scalling, weapon physical damage now scalles also with LUCK
I love that the infusions are more like DeS. Should open up more options if Sharp/Refined are worthwhile, making some quality weapons flexible to become more STR or DEX focused. Also, Blessed is not a passive regen any more, it's like Bloodborne and you get health on hit, which makes me even more hyped for my Paladin build.
Also, confirmed that you cannot upgrade or infuse chimes/talismans/catalysts, etc.
That makes me worry that quality builds might not be all that great this time around. The value proposition of taking Refined over another infusion (or even no infusion) seems kind of limited in a lot of cases. But I've never played Demon's Souls, so maybe I'm misunderstanding.
I never did see anything convincing about what Manus really is, or where the undead curse came from, or what the Dark is/wants, or what happened to the pygmy mentioned in DS1's intro. I'm sure I've missed some items.
Honestly, I've always felt like the DS1 DLC was written by someone different or represented a different/new lore direction that the writing team decided to take, compared to the original thrust of the game

Nah, it shouldn't be that. If you have a weapon that has say B/B scaling, you'd just go 40/40 STR DEX with no infusion. What the quality infusion does is open up even more weapons for quality builds.
Let's say you have a weapon that has A STR but C DEX scaling, and you don't love it. You could use the quality infusion to make the scalings B/B instead.
I never did see anything convincing about what Manus really is, or where the undead curse came from, or what the Dark is/wants, or what happened to the pygmy mentioned in DS1's intro. I'm sure I've missed some items.

Manus was the furtive pygmy, and anybody arguing against it just because the game isn't super duper mega explicit about it I think is just on a fool's errand. He's the primeval man, etc.
The DLC wasn't written by anybody different, and it was meant to be part of the original game, it just couldn't be included in time for the game's original release. Without the DLC, you miss out on much of the whole abyss side of the fire/dark paradigm. Oolacile was corrupted by Kaathe and called for Manus, the pygmy whose humanity(darkness aka the dark soul) had gone wild.
If you had a 40/40 build, wouldn't an A/C weapon and a refined B/B weapon have basically the same overall scaling bonus, meaning you sacrifice base damage for nothing with the infusion?
I guess if you had a Dark Souls 1-style biased quality build of like 25/40, then the refined weapon might be better than the uninfused or sharp versions. Maybe that's all it's supposed to be for.

in fact the dark souls 1 artbook which came out prior to the decision to make DLC has concept work for everything in the DLC

Not necessarily. A str scaling and C dex scaling and B in both don't necessarily mean the same thing. Especially if the C is a low C and the A is a high C. That was just one example anyway.
It'd be more likely to be used for something that had A/D scaling, to give you a B/C.

Yes. Yes it is. I was worried that the design would be too BB, but this is Dark Souls through and through (with just a better engine).
And these areas are fucking massive.

From Dark Souls Facebook page:
"We at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe are very thankful and happy to see so much interest for Dark Souls III.
There is some confusion surrounding the Japanese and international release of the game and we would like to clarify this:
The full functionality and experience of Dark Souls III will not be available for international players until the launch on April 12th. This is due to planned bug fixes and important patches such as online gameplay that will be implemented on client and server side.
Thank you for your continued support and see you in Lothric soon!"
So I literally haven't played a souls game since Demon's Souls. In the recent entries, are parry-counterarttacks still a thing you can do? Seems like when I see gameplay it's just some dude facerolling(and dodge rolling) two-handed weapons erry days.

Not sure I've ever read a more bullshit excuse.
Oh yea it is. The Japanese version works flawlessly in regards to online. So unless they don't know how to separate language packs from online functionality, its a garbage excuse. What I wouldn't give for them to just come out and say, look we wanted this game in our spring releases and don't control what FS does in Japan. Boom. Pissed off people sure, but you don't have the massive eyeroll that the internet is doing at the moment.

Jesus, 30 minutes into the game and I'm already in love.
This game is gorgeous, it sounds good, and it plays nearly flawlessly. I say nearly cause it can barely maintain 30FPS, but I guess it wouldn't be a Souls game without that jank.

They are never going to openly claim to be manipulating their revenue reporting, will make the company look bad and could potentially impact investors.
We all know it is a bs excuse, they never would have given copies to streamers to showcase around the world, if there was anything explicitly needed in those patches.
The internet rolling it's eyes, though? They don't care.

It annoys me how Globalization is an excuse whenever big corporations uses the world market to its advantage, but the moment a consumer takes advantage of it it's all of a sudden a taboo. See college textbooks for example.
Plague brings up a lot of good points to be honest. I'm still annoyed by the cameos but I bought the game anyway so I'm guess I'm part in f the problem.
Yeah it's pandering to the fans but I like to think the Dark souls universe has gone through so many cycles that it's eventually it turned to a twisted parody of its original self.

I'm going to let someone else do the math for these infusions.
