So I did Cutters Cry earlier and filled out my hunting long. Except I need 1 more stupid bat. I just don't want to run the while dungeon again for 1 enemy in the first room. But I wants my 2,500 seals.
You should also want that sweet sweet exp.
But its such a boring dungeon! And I get more XP from being in random roulette
Why can't you? You register the time card on the mogstation.
Swear to God when I looked yesterday the only option available was "Steam Payment". But, today when I went in to verify, there's options for "Add subscription" and "Add game time card".
I'm going to chalk it up to Squenix being really bad at websites.
I went out and got Heaventsward today since I hit 48 last night.
I registered it to my account, but do I have to actually install anything?
Not to my knowledge; owning the expansion at this point is mainly a seal of approval that you are allowed to enter Heavensward content. The client should have long since updated Heavensward and post Heavensward patch content to your version of the game, you just couldn't access it by default like ARR with a few minor exceptions. Now you can (after you get caught up on MSQ stuff and can go to Ishgard).

You might have a patch start downloading next time you run the ffxiv launcher, but maybe not. You won't need to download anything seperate, for sure though.
I know the game would have the armor graphics already installed, just to have players in Heavensward gear not be broken textures on your screen, but I don't know if the game will keep a consistent install amongst all clients; whether Heavensward is applied to an account holder that's ever logged in on that PC or not.
I think it would be that you won't have to download any patches but don't hold me to that.
I do like the story so far. Some steps have been...convoluted. But most MMOs don't really have stories. I think Star Was was the best I've done because it was different for each class and felt really personal. WoW the story was just sort of happening around you. Even though you were these legendary heroes who saved the world from dragons and demons and war you wern't involved with the story at all. Guild Wars 2 felt similar to me.

The messaging of the whole "chosen one" spiel loses a bit when before every one of the big bad boss fights you're like "Hold up, lemme get seven other guys and then we'll fucking go."

Is Abyssal Drain meant to replace Unmend?
It seems like an upgraded version of it and the MP increase doesn't seem like it would be much of an issue with a blood price follow up.
I will say that it seems to me to be a bit of an MP waste to use it on a pull when you're not hitting a bunch of enemies. And don't forget Unmend's chance of giving you a free unleash.

No. It interrupts your chains and costs more. Where it excels is when dealing with large pulls, as a DAAD can easily recover a few thousand HP from large packs.

Make sure to turn on Blood Price so that you can use AD after AD without dropping out of Darkside.
So...if I have an open preorder for a game that isn't limited quantities (Star Ocean) but isn't out yet; can I just cancel the pre-order, re-pre-order and get code credit for that?
Also...is that fat chocobo different than the one already in the game? It says "original" fat chocobo, but it looks white.

Its a fat white chocobo with a crown and a bigger gyashal green on a stick.
Thats pretty much it. Worth it though as far as I'm concerned.
Deep Dungeon info, trying to stick to the newish info I haven't seen yet:
Level 17 or above can unlock it.
They recommend, for story reasons, that you do Tam Tara HM first though.
2 save slots with an amazing screen very reminiscent of old FF games. Useful for if you want to have a slot for a preformed party with specific friends.
The gear you level up inside does sync if you end up going back to a lower level.
Consumable items found in dungeon are shared among party members.
Every 10 floors is a boss fight, can only save after you beat it.
A party of 4 dps for example should be able to clear it, but you might want to bring potions.
There's items to transform you into monsters with their abilities.
50 floors in 3.35, eventually expanded to 200. No lockouts or anything, they don't seem to think it'll take that long to make it through since they keep mentioning the difficulty isn't that high.
The glowing weapons are a reward, but you can choose which job weapon you get, not just the one you were playing.
And it's top secret not because they don't want to announce what it is, but because it wasn't finished in time for them to present it.
It'll be announced what it is well before fanfest

Have to say, I'm pretty pleased with getting a bunch of stuff from a pre-order (Titanfall 2) I was going to get anyway... Much better than buying a bunch of soda!
What is Fanfest and what do I need to do in order to get that stuff?
It's just a big convention for FFXIV basically. You either have to attend, which can be difficult as tickets sell out pretty quick, or buy one of their streaming packages so you can watch from the safety of your own home. Unfortunately, you only get 1 minion per event so to get all 3 you have to attend or stream all 3 events.

Luckily there are some real gems in there.
What is nice about that, is that it gives some xp bump to smooth out some of the gaps in the xp between MSQ.
I will always say that FF14 has the best story of any mmo I've played ever.*

Apparently this is an added incentive to attend or get in on the livestream of the FanFest.

Best news ever if they're not going to let us craft straight out of retainer inventories. I'm carrying so much extra non-adventuring crap right now.

Put ALL special quest items as key items. I don't like that the Anima Weapon stuff gets placed in the general inventory.
Reduce the number of key item spots. They could probably cut the number by half, at least.
Make a special tab for crafting mats. Get that stuff separate from edible food, potions, and the like.
Increase the number of normal slots (can just take them from the no longer used key item slots).
I could see something like -
Key Items <--> Inv 1 <--> Inv 2 <--> Crafting Mats
As the tabs.
