haven't had the chance to post up other reveals but the playduelyst twitter account has been revealing a lot of things. the last few days have been related to the PA cards (the lookouts) that will be the month cards (which i was curious if there would be any given the expansion)
5/4 is pretty average statline so presumably the riddle is something that disadvantages them in their hand
to my knowledge they havent shown any riddles yet, but i agree. its a space id like to see explored more in digital space. i know HS has 1 card sorta like this, but i think it is going to fall into "unfun" territory if it is good since people cant handle their opponent interfering with them.
i am really curious if it has built in cycle protection since if it only affects their hand they will clearly just throw it back.

5/4 is well below average, dies to 2 drop + hero attack, many common +2 attack hero item (specifically spectral blade), crygenesis, matches up badly to dancing swords, etc
I'd much rather have hailstone golem unless those riddles are pretty stronk
i kinda expect this to be a "tset" card. not to imply they didnt test it before, but the mechanic is very unique and i wouldn't be surprised to see it underpowered the first time around.
Best of the new september cards seems to be the wood-wen and I'm not 100% sure about it. There's a lot of competition in the 2 slot and there's already a 2 drop provoke minion that can't be cleared by your opponent's general. However, it gets a lot better at 3/3 so maybe it has a home in Kara.

God, I don't think I can get to 10 this season. I had a nice winstreak going with Arcanyst Vet at the lowbie ranks but when I hit 14 I hit a bunch of face decks I couldn't outheal, so I switched to shadowcreep cass and went 2-0 over the course of 45 minutes. That just ain't economical.
edit: welp quests just rolled over and I have play 4 abyssian, guess I know what I'm doing for the next five hours

Alright, officially just not having fun with this game anymore. I'll spend all my gold on Shim'zar packs tomorrow when it drops, see if I get anything cool, and then probably just uninstall. The sheer amount of snowball in this game just sucks.

Kara is doing work for me at rank 7 atm if you want an easy deck to break 10 with. For a deck that is literally nothing but commons and basics*, it performs very well. If the snowball effect is frustrating you, it is time to embrace the most snowbally decks of all and play nothing but low cost, value minions that become extra value minions late game. Not that you'll ever see late game anyway because you'll win on turn 4 with double tiger first.
*I do have a Hallowed Grovekeeper in there but that's not standard in kara and I only included him because I opened him in a pack. I know some kara decks run spelljammers as well but I've been fine with just ember wolves.

I do actually have a grovekeeper and a spelljammer, but Kara is not at all the sort of general I want to play. Just boring linear midrange stuff with the bullshit that is buffed saberspines to top it off. When I played Vanar I liked Faie way better because hearthsister is so cool with her BBS and I like having that constant BBS general pressure in an aggro deck.
Problem with playing Faie aggro is any build of it I try just kinda loses to any and all provoke. Sometimes I have the dispel or aspect of the fox and then I lose to the second provoke.

okay but what if i told you i physically trapped someone at rank 18 with wraithlings in the abyssian starter deck with 2 cards still left to unlock

battle pets are a thing. as in there is a fuckton of support for them so i wonder if battlePet.dec will be a thing as well. if nothing else it will be fun meme-time stuff.
Duelyst cards have some of the dumbest names, and occasionally these names don't even make sense in relation to what the card does. (See: Corpse Combustion)
And geez, they sure did add a lot of board clearing (and quasi-clearing) effects to the game.

it's funny you say that because i went straight to the abyssian section and couldn't find the card. after a bit of hunting i found it and yeah it doesn't make much sense. the corpse part kinda sorta does but i don't see what it has to do with the name.
and yeah a lot of board clears which is interesting. kara does kinda concern me now unless there is some reasonable hyper aggro. otherwise games will elongate and every single one of her minions becomes a giant threat.

All bets are off until the meta settles post expansion, but I like the idea of dropping a Grove Lion or two into a Magmar Twin Fangs deck.
The changes to the Abyssal juggernaut are concerning to me, seems rare that that thing isn't going to be at least a 6/6 for 4 mana by turn 4.

Darkspine could already be a 6/6 for 2 on turn 3 if you opened with double crawler and that didn't see much play iirc
dispel 2 stronk
although maybe if shadow creep ends up playing more like an aggro deck with one obliterate as a big finisher rather than the current stall/control shell
Am I missing something with Spinecleaver/Bloodfire Totem? Are they summoned under your opponent's control? Or is Spinecleaver just fucking awful?
Bloodfire must be summoned for your opponent, it wouldn't make sense otherwise.
Also servers are kill from so many pack openings. They had to disable matchmaking even though I could get in.

Servers are finally back up, so I spent all my dust on Gro Magmar, and it's feeling really good. Gro itself is stupidly powerful, the only clean answer to a turn 2 one is straight removal (phoenix fire, natural selection, judgement), or this one guy who saberspine+first wish'd it, all of which I'm happy to see a two drop take on-curve. It's a bit worse in the lategame since they can just plop a 4 5 attack thing next to it and it'll suicide, but that's where the skill in properly placing your pets comes in.
And Moloki is legit af. If they don't have the removal for her she just snowballs insanely fast, both Grimrock and Kolossus become amazing with her on the board. Earth Walker is mediocre but you need three drops anyway so it's worth running, and tends to attract removal pretty hard in the midgame which is valuable for protecting your Molokis later.

I had the greatest battle pet experience today, I was up against a Abyssian deck who was using the respawning battle pet and had put Deathfire Crescendo on it so it got huge on it's walk back to the middle of the board while he spammed wraithlings and Sarlac, I killed off as many of his wraithlings and my own minions as I could then dropped Earth Sister next to his general directly in the battle pets path. It happily walked into Earth Sister attacked it and punched his general in the face for 14.

Lots of ornamental wings in Duelyst. Sarlac, Purgatos, Ash Mephet, Eclipse, Zurael, Suntide Maiden.
One can only imagine that they share common ancestry with some large flightless bird, like our ostrich.

I don't understand this post
I thought it was some weird meta-fiction about being trapped using a shitty starter deck but that didn't quite add up
hey man, I was just extrapolating based on the other posts I've seen you make in this thread
this is what I spent most of my early days in duelyst playing
it was so much better when you drew two cards a turn, you were basically zoo with savage roar
bunch of creep changes besides the ones mentioned (abyssal crawler and juggernaut got reworked)
veteran and elder silithar got nerfed due to eff changes
nerfs
divine bond
spirit of the wild
earth sister taygete
ancestral divination rework (someone mentioned this before)
shim'zar spoiler here:

you ready for the turn 6 10/10 wraithling?
turn 9 you can do a 20/20

the structures summoned by the vet cards
shame that deck didn't really get any new tools, it's a cool idea
also battle pando's existence basically saying "play lilithe, I dare you, you're gonna queue into the one person playing me every time and cry"
also fuck giving vanar board clear, I thought that was supposed to be their weakness? I don't think it's a particularly great board clear, but still

(and it's a structure, so fuck are they gonna do)
Darkfire Sacrifice! Ritual Banishment! Deepfire Devourer! Plasma Storm!
You can also use removal and dispels but that feels a lot worse.
I didn't hero power as vaath for like three turns so I could guarantee getting plasma storm from twilight sorcerer against a lillithe
she wasn't happy about that
