Yeah and that's decidedly not a thing that would have happened under Stoops, according to OU fans who are upset with their school being a dick.

Then the NCAA should refuse the transfers to OU.

Or better yet, the NCAA should get rid of a gooseshit system that looks a lot like non-compete clauses.

In what is an unsurprising follow-up to the McBanquet, Clemson's black players mostly declined the invite:
When Filet-O-Fish aficionado Donald Trump invited the Clemson Tigers to enjoy the White House’s first Presidential Value Meal, most of Clemson’s national championship football team members jumped at the opportunity to meet the original cheeseburger-swallowing clown. But The Root has learned that Clemson’s black players, some specifically citing racism and their disdain for Trump’s divisive politics, passed on the opportunity to hang out with the real-life Mayor McCheese.

The Root spoke with three black Clemson players who each separately confirmed that many players, both black and white, had no interest in making the trip. All three acknowledged that Donald Trump was the reason they chose not to attend. Even more telling, most of Clemson’s white players were in attendance while nearly three-fourths of the school’s black football players took a hard pass on the chance to eat cold fries with the president of people who eat salads from McDonald’s.

“It wasn’t like we had a team meeting or anything,” said one of Clemson’s offensive stars who spoke with The Root on the condition of anonymity. “Players were talking amongst each other but everybody was like: ‘I’m not going to that.’”
In total, 15 of the University’s black players listed on the school’s official roster attended the White House visit, the vast majority of whom (11) were freshmen or sophomores who had very little playing time during the season. Just one senior made the trip and only six of the players in attendance were even listed on Clemson’s national championship depth chart. There are at least 57 black student-athletes on Clemson’s official team roster, which means 74 percent of Clemson’s African-American players chose not to make the trip to the White House.

I was going to say going on the trip to DC would be cool, and then not going to the White House, but the shutdown probably made it so none of the museums or the zoo were open in town so I guess it wouldn't be worth going.

OK, I'm surprised Dabo let that happen, so one small point for him.

In other news, about a sixth of Clemson's players had positive PED tests.

    Yikes.
Lawrence, a junior, already has left the team to prepare for early entry into the 2019 NFL draft; he is widely considered a first-round prospect. He addressed the PED issue during a Cotton Bowl media availability before the players’ blood samples confirmed ostarine usage and, thus, their suspensions.

“I don’t know where it came from,” he said. “I don’t know how it got there.”

    Yes. It's a fucking mystery.

Apparently, the coach of Southern Miss wanted to hire known rapist enabler Art Briles:
After enough people got mad and pointed out that the school should maybe not hire a man who oversaw a Baylor program where, according to one lawsuit, 31 players were accused of committing 52 rapes in four years, Southern Mississippi announced they would not hire Briles in a short statement. “We have met with Art Briles regarding a position with the Southern Miss football program. Following that meeting, we informed him that he is not a candidate,” the school said.

This did not stop Southern Miss head coach Jay Hopson from going out of his way to say he wanted to hire Briles, and that he disagreed with the school’s decision to move on. Unlike even Briles himself, who still denies that he ever did anything wrong, Hopson plainly admitted that Briles “may not have acted in the proper protocol.” The good (?) news is, Hopson says, “that would be my JOB at Southern Miss.”

    That is some astounding illogic.

I posted that piece in the college sexual assault thread. It was an eye opening read. And Briles is a fucking monster who has been enabling rapists since he was a high school coach.

Your reminder that the NCAA absolutely sucks eggs.

Let us all note that Art Briles - a man who has a decades long history of enabling rapists - is free to work for any college with the blessings of the NCAA.

But a tutor who answered a few problems has a 10 year show cause ruling.

Now and forever, fuck the motherfucking NCAA.

Dabo Swinney: We may have accidentally given our players PEDs:
It’s not clear from what, or from where, three Clemson players got the performance-enhancing drugs they tested positive for prior to the Cotton Bowl on Dec. 29, but Dabo Swinney appears to already have excuses at the ready in case the culprit came from inside the field house.

    Per The Post and Courier:
Swinney told The Post and Courier that the process is out of his hands and that the university’s legal team is still looking into all possibilities, which includes the chance that Clemson gave the players something the athletic department thought was cleared by the NCAA.

“Oh yeah, I mean, there’s a chance that it could come from anything,” Swinney said when asked if it’s possible the players ingested ostarine in a Clemson-issued supplement or were exposed to it in some other way at the school. “They’re going to test everything and look at everything. And that’s the problem. As you really look at this stuff, it could be a contaminant that came from anything, that was something that was cleared and not a problem, and all of a sudden, it becomes there was something.”

“Alleged Supplier”. Which may or may not exist, but definitely doesn’t exist. Unless you find out, in which case it wasn’t a supplier it was a rogue insider. Or chemtrails. Definitely. Maybe.

And the Cornhuskers become the newest member of the "Who Cares About Sexual Assault" club, as it turns out that they kept a revenge porn enthusiast on the team:
Nebraska running back Maurice Washington is being charged under California’s “revenge porn” law for keeping a 2016 video on his phone of a then-15-year-old classmate being sexually assaulted, and sending the video to the victim along with the message, “Remember this hoe.” NBC Bay Area reports that the video was made when two 17-year-old students at The King’s Academy High School in Sunnyvale, California, drove a 15-year-old classmate to a secluded park and allegedly raped her:
The University of Nebraska was reportedly “made aware of the allegations against Washington” during the fall of 2018, but Washington has not been made available to the Santa Clara Sheriff’s Department for an interview despite requests made to the school’s athletic department. Washington was not disciplined by the school, and played in 11 games during his freshman season.

    University statement:
Last fall we were contacted by the Nebraska Attorney General’s office and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln police department and made aware that officials in California were interested in interviewing Maurice Washington about a prior incident,” NU’s statement read. “Details were not shared and there was no additional follow-up with the Nebraska Athletic Department. Recently, we were made aware that charges may be filed against Maurice in California. We have not had a chance to review the charges, and will continue to monitor this ongoing legal process.

Swap the places of a few teams until they shape the fuck up. Maybe swap out MSU and OSU for a directional Michigan and Toledo for a few years, until they can get all the stupid out? Let Western, Central, or Eastern Michigan have some time on the big stage while they give everything MSU a full flashlight colonoscopy to get all the remains of the Nassar shit solved, OSU until they realize the best place for Urban is the unemployment line, and every other team that's catching the stupids.

I mean, how hard is it to understand that when a player fucks up like that, you fucking bounce them from the team, regardless of what they play like? We had two players in Kalamazoo who tried to pull some retail fraud shit at a Wal-Mart and they got run out of town by the coach like *that*. Let the smaller schools with the better reps have more of the pie and show the big schools that actions have consequences.

That was 10 players suspended for a bowl game for alleged gang rape (I don't recall if there was ever a trial, I remember the story seeming damning) over the protests of the head coach and team captains. The coach was eventually fired for it. Two or three years ago.
