This got a good laugh from me and got me thinking.

What are the best lines for everyone else? Because that is 100% it for Hamilton.

I managed to avoid most Hamilton things for myself (minus the theme song because you couldn't escape it for awhile) and the wife and I finally watched it on Disney+ this past Sunday.

    This musical bangs hard.

    Jesus Christ.

I was super disappointed that Lin didn't go for the obvious 1776 Homage there with saying "Sweet Jesus"

so I just substitute that in my head.

I think he did, I just misremembered!

Yup! My bad, 1:33 into Your Obedient Servant. I thought it sounded off when I typed it.

Speaking of Hamilton’s constant references I just recently listened to the song where Lin borrows “I’m only 19 but my mind is older” for the first time. I’d totally forgotten that was a reference.

Drunk History and the musical work really well as companion pieces. I like them both a lot.

Who is the kid and what is John Krasinski doing there? Some kind of make-a-wish charity event?

No no see it was a thing he was just doing with some "friends" (a team of producers and a media group who found the best stuff for him to steal from YouTube people who already did what he did but they aren't John Krasinski) and the idea took off and he was "humbled" and it was "unexpected" and he sold the show for millions and will not longer be hosting.

i feel like the conversation about the politics (bad in an obvious way) distracts from the more interesting conversation we could be having about the music (bad in a very weird way)

i tried to give the soundtrack a listen and it just sets my teeth on edge. like it's almost there? he starts with the structure of a basically okay song, but then it's overlaid with this bizarre "my name is hamilton and i'm here to say" type rapping that is incredibly uncomfortable to listen to

like someone gave your cool high school teacher a million dollars to produce his fun rap about the constitution, and he developed a very complex and intricate musical structure without ever actually mastering the basics of the genre

watching it was very much like watching the west wing. it felt like a piece of art made by hyper-rational aliens who understand form but not content. which is also a pretty good epitaph for obama liberalism

I know they are since banned but this is one of the most hilarious takes I've seen on this musical.
Like, it demonstrates such a misunderstanding of the musical and the various hip-hop/R&B references it pulls from that I honestly wonder if this person has ever listened to a hip-hop song.
I literally only just made the connection between 10 Duel Commandments and Biggie's 10 Crack Commandments (which I slapped my forehead over considering how the cadence of the rapping is a direct call to Biggie).

Not liking the musical is totally fine, but trying to couch it into some sort of half-assed reason like the above is absolutely comical.

Also, the musical is corny as shit, much like all musicals.
