Well, I got two hours in (midnight > 2am) and the game is everything I was hoping it would be so far.
The only thing that surprised me - despite being somewhat prepared for it - was the amount of characterisation put into the lead. Now that I have a fair idea in my head of who they 'should' be, I think I'm going to catch a good 6-8 hours of sleep, and start over in the morning with a SPECIAL allocation that fits that person in my head, rather than what I started with.
Future playthroughs I'll do whoever I want however I want, but yeah. I'm super glad I took the week off to explore this game, I can already tell it is gonna be one hell of a ride.
I ran a generator to a pylon to a water dealie in the river by the bridge - I made a larger type generator. Worked for me, had to build close tho - not enough copper.
Also: Whoever finds the motherlode of adhesive in the wasteland better post about it.

The cleared status for dungeons (which you can check on the map icon) from Skyrim seems to be back.
Hopefully it's smarter this time though. In Skyrim it would withhold clear status if there was still a quest that does something there later.
I'd prefer just getting clear status from killing whatever the hell is in there when you first find it.
The crafting system has aggravated hoarding tendencies.
I'll say that anyone planning on doing a crafting heavy play should grab the Scrounger perk ASAP. Being able to break down guns and armor for parts to use in armor and gun mods is very useful. There are some parts that I haven't really seen in non-gun or armor items.
I'm hoarding so many items I'm barely selling anything.
I think I'm going to have to put some points into the cap scavenging ability, and the barter one, to maximise cap generation.

Ok cool, still kind of worried because the Australian store can still let me purchase it, even tho I own the US one. Gah I'm such an idiot, I use my US credit card usually to get cheaper digital copies, I knew it would bite me in the ass one day, but this has never happened with any other game launch

Yeah no clue why they have that be how you command him. The PC mods for the previous games just dedicated a button (or holding one) to generally command companions and it's something Bethesda should have learned from. Hoping it'll be an early mod.

We should get some characters posted up in here. Customisation is balls amazing, and I want to see all the mans/womans.
Still debating on whether I should just play as a guy who is supposed to be me/me-esque, with my first name, or play as a lady. I'm leaning towards a lady cause that's what I normally do, but I guess I should check out what names the game recognizes.

Funniest moment of the game so far is battling a surprisingly tough Mr. Gutsy and thinking "Where the hell is Dogmeat?!" just before [Dogmeat found something] popped up.

At this point wouldn't it just be better to wait the two hours rather than risk getting banned? Even if it's a relatively minor risk, you're basically betting on valve either not being able, or not wanting to ban a bunch of people.

Skimming it for lady names, I wish the game just presented you with a list of names it recognized and let you choose, instead of blindly putting a name the game might not recognize on there.
Also I'm bummed the list seems to have Bailey and Charlotte, but not Sasha or Becky/Rebecca.

On the plus side I'm seeing crazy mixing of enemy levels out there.
I've discovered if you think you can go straight to the area around Diamond City and push the shit in of it's nearby enemies, you're going to have a bad time.

I think its going to be a while before I try, if ever, with this setup. realistically, I've got to shop around. Sorry I can't be of more help. Curious myself.

And the Courier's hit was Critical with the big iron on her hip...
When does this officially unlock in the US so I can start streaming? Having a blast so far. The giant bomb quick look is good too, but be warned they spoil the identity of a companion.

It's a pretty low risk since I'm not sure anyone has ever heard of anyone actually getting banned for it. But the post was more to point out the patch which is beta and won't load automatically even after the US launch. I can see it going to the stable channel fairly soon, but if anyone loads up the game and it's crashing 15 minutes I bet they'll be about as annoyed as I was.

Would be cool during original character creation, if you started with a high enoug intelligence, you'd get called doctor.

Overall, not liking the dialog choice changes a whole lot at the moment. Its frustrating so far.
