When does this officially unlock in the US so I can start streaming? Having a blast so far. The giant bomb quick look is good too, but be warned they spoil the identity of a companion.
I'd like to check out the quick look.
Is the spoiled companion
Piper, Codsworth, Dogmeat or Preston?
I'm cool with that, anything else I'm hoping to discover myself

No. The one they showed was pretty cool, so if you want to go in surprised I'd skip it.
It's a small thing, but that is the best chargen gender swap thing.
(It'll probably get old after I want to go CHAR OPTIMAL and start experimenting, but w/e)

Haha my god, assigning some people to guard posts.
I built one and then went to assign a random person to one. Stopped the first woman that walked by. She shrugs, walks up to the top of the guard post and, devoid of any other weapon, just puts her fists up at the ready and stands there.

Diamond City
As soon as this officially unlocks in my area I'm going to throw up a stream if anyone isn't playing it by then heh.
After 40 odd hours of new vegas in the last week I'm about ready for the new one. NV really shows its age but dang I forgot how good it was, now if only they did armor with the the toaster ai and a psycho dispenser...
Apparently you can build display cases for your bobbleheads and magazines.
Most of those are pretty common knowledge for anybody that has played these games before, but this one caught my eye.
12. PRE-WAR MONEY IS VALUABLE! AND IT'S ALSO JUNK.
The cap-to-cash exchange rate is extremely high, but watch out — hitting the "dump all junk" button in the workbench will remove your pre-war cash too, as it breaks down into cloth.
Prewar cash has always been really good for making money, but now I kinda like the idea of making my clothes out of dollar bills.
Random notes that may be of help to people unlocking soon:
So I did some testing and it appears that pistols get a bonus to fire rate in VATs over rifles even if all other stats are the same. Basically tested the pistol and rifle versions of pipe pistols and one energy weapon to confirm this. So anyone going for a crit heavy build is going to want to stick to pistols.
You can figure out if armor pieces can be worn over a piece of clothing by seeing if any limbs flash when you look at the clothing in the inventory screen. If it covers a slot, that slot will blink.
The first few sidequests breadcrumb you in the direction you'd go anyway following the main quest so it's worth doing them.
The Science perks mostly affect energy weapon mods but also some higher end ballistic weapon mods. So you'll need it for maximum crafting even if you use bullet throwers.
Don't forget that cars explode. Sometimes there are mines besides cars and you can survive the mine and then get taken out by the car. I was reminded of that the hard way.

Pre-war money was always my go to junk item for selling to vendors. It was everywhere in 3/NV.
Quicksave in a town because I saw a bunch of food I could loot that weren't marked as stealing. Load up.
See a house, it's unlocked. Open the door and my character exclaims "that's a serious lock, I need to find a key" which is silly in a variety of ways given I waltzed right in.
I get in there, make sure nobody's inside, close the doors, and steal some quest items and the entire town aggros on me because I stole, despite that nobody should be able to tell I did.
I then reloaded. All that food is gone for some reason. And that house IS locked with a serious lock.....except it has a unlocked side door. And guess what, he says the same thing upon opening that door.
And they again aggro through the building.

I was planning on swinging by GameStop tonight to pick up my preorder but when I drove by there were like 50 people in a line that wrapped around the building.
Nuts to that. I don't care that much. I'm old and tired. I'll just pick up my copy tomorrow.
Wow. What the Hell is the point of pre-loading the game if it takes an hour or two after it drops to play? It didn't take that long to download the fucking thing.

Holy shit, really...guys...in 2015 we haven't learned that anything estimating times to do anything with a disk are wrong? It takes like 10 minutes, despite what it may say at the start.
Well, I guess pre-loading is pointless? Will you still have to go through this decryption bullshit if you download the game after it's released?
It seriously takes shorter to just download than deal with this.
Apparently.
Fuck us for preordering, preloading and abiding by the launchtime, right?
Seriously the progress I'm getting, I could (and in fact fucking did) download it faster.
But then your download speeds would probably be tanked by all of the other people downloading.
You could opt to delete your preload and just download it again (I had to do it for MGS because I apparently did not have the 120-ish GB free since you need HDD space equal to the unpacked game and pre-load combined to unpack.

The explosive spam I'm getting from some raiders though? Not cool.

I read that from some preliminary testing it's a 3% bonus per point, including the first point.
I also read that one of the XP-related perks seems to be super broken:
Supposedly there is a base 10% chance for it to trigger any time you gain XP, minus 1% for every point of intelligence.

Yeah. Wait, then furiously reload the minute it should unlock until it actually does. Then wait an hour while it decrypts the file.
Then I guess I'll have enough time to... maybe create a character?
But tomorrow!

Some of these components are frustrating difficult to find, like adhesive. Everything needs it and there's never enough.
