As soon as I replace dogmeat I have a quest that requires the dumb mutt, but of course we cant have him and an actual useful companion so now I gotta kick my companion to the curb to grab the mutt to finish this quest.
Dogmeat is the only useful companion. True fact. Dogs are best.

I don't know whats worse.
Dogmeat constantly getting in the way and accidentally being told to stay.
Or Piper constantly standing infront of me and thrusting her chest in my face, then turning around to show me her ass, then chest, then ass, then chest, then ass.
I swear she could be used to drill for oil if there was any left.
Sent him back to Sanctuary and now he's nowhere to be found.
Check all the backyards. Some of them have doghouses in them, where he will chill. (Also, destroy those doghouses and build one in a more convenient location to change his chill location.)

The sniff for cigars quest?
I was able to have both Nick and Dogmeat for that one quest, until we got to the building

Cait seems to love muzzle sweeping me with her shotgun at really close range. It does not get any less unnerving with time.
full of raiders. In the basement, nice big carved out area. I hopped down to the bottom floor. DEATHCLAW IN CLOSE QUARTERS. That was terrifying. Eventually set up enough mines on the ground and ran away from it over them. Looks like the raiders were using it like a rancor!

I'm having fun! I'm playing on survival difficulty, and I've got self imposed no fast travel (interesting to have to actually plan out travel). To counter the issue of material management, I've just given myself infinite carry space so I can at least craft things when I find a table. I've also given my power armour no power-drain on movement (jetpack would still drain it), so i'm just a space marine now, which is badass. But because I'm walking everywhere on foot, armour management is becoming a very cool aspect of the game. I can suck up a lot of damage in fights, but my armour gets trashed, and armour-rigs are pretty far between, or a ways distance. It's cool that I'm basically wearing a tank, but I've got to still be careful about fights. I wont die very easily, but my plating flies off, then I get obliterated pretty easily, and its some real work to get it all patched up again.
Settlement builders. How the goose do you make a square building with wooden walls (with sloped roofs), then put a wall w/doorway in the middle of one of the sides, then close up the annoying openings on either side of the door with End Walls? It's not letting me use End Walls AND Wall w/Doorway at the same time in the same place like it should and it's driving me batty.
What I'm looking at is the spot where an End Wall should go. To the right is the Wall w/Door. If I could put an End Wall there, it'd be perfect. But I can't. So the whole structure is stupid?
Keep in mind that if you see impossible-looking structures, some people are using the console to build whatever they please, clip whatever they want, because they get fed up with the regular interface.
In their defense the regular interface is kind of terrible if you want things to not be hovering magically in the air
I'm really hoping one of the first mods or better yet actual update gives options like being able to connect pieces even if it ends up with most of it being deeply embedded into the ground so that things look a little less wonky.
Yeah the only way I can build anything is to put wooden foundations down and snap everything onto that, deleting the foundations afterwards if it's something outdoors. Unfortunately fencing won't snap to anything except other fences and is by far the worst offender for floating above the ground.

Hmm, at the beginning in the vault there's a lady crying about her family in DC who she thought wouldn't make it...
She has no name, just "neighbor," but looking through both cryo terminal logs might get us a name. I don't think she goes into the first one with you, so she could be in the second one. She could be Cindy Cofran or Mrs. Whitfield. Wonder if anyone with that last name is in Fallout 3?
They need to add back in the sound of your gun in vats no matter where it is. It's weird hearing silence and then seeing an enemy die in slow mo, all without a gunshot sound, it's super anticlimactic. Not even a "woosh" if a bullet
Vats overall feels MORE wonky than 3, possibly because of the gun mod variants and the lack of pausing time

Says that one has an actual name, so I'm thinking Cofran. But there's no mention of a Cofran anywhere via google or the wiki. It might simply be a callback and not an actual reference.

So what does total hack actually do? Got the protection one but it doesn't seem to added any options when dealing with them.
Secrets, lies, and tragedy. The trifecta.

Found this out earlier today when I started a project to fortify Sanctuary.
Took to just adding lots of junk walls and posts over them. Nothing to see here.
I have a question, and it includes non-specific spoilers for what I'm guessing is about 2/3rds of the way through the main story:
I need a biometric scanner. I've been told to look in hospitals... I have it marked to find (meaning, the little magnifying glass shows up next to anything that can be broken down to get it). I've gone to three different hospitals now, and cleared out what I could swear is every last inch of them, and I can't find one of these things. I only know of three hospitals... am I doing something wrong, or what?

its a junk item, that you break down for mats in settlements. Try Traders
apparently that coat i found actually has like 15 DR
which means i can just throw a couple perk points into toughness and look like this without sacrificing mah stats

yes
Toughness and Refractor are pretty much required if you want to stay stylish.
I learned this when I was trying to equip Piper.
Put some leg armor on her and she was suddenly sitting there in her underwear. Apparently cant wear armor with her stylish trench, So I had to give her the mad max suit.
At least this Fallout has decent underwear, Underwear that actually makes sense, compared to Fallout 3/New Vegas where you'd strip a raider of armor and suddenly they'd have more clothes on naked than clothed
Doing Battle of Bunker Hill, warned the Railroad and went in trying to keep the synths from getting killed.
Quest marker sent me to the basement to find the synths, I killed some brotherhood dudes there (because they showed up even though I didn't invite them?), and now there doesn't seem to be anything else hostile in the room, except that the Railroad turrets defending the place are A)hostile, B)untargetable in VATS, and C)can't take damage from anything, and it seems to be preventing me from talking to any of the railroad people still in the room.
I wasn't feeling the Laser Musket even as a sniper, but I did find a legendary "automatic" one that fires continuously as you crank the handle.
Unfortunately it can't be upgraded. I might give it to Preston so he can get his Ghostbuster on.
I spent way too much time fortifying Sanctuary today. I did it fairly cheaply by rearranging all the white picket fences. Used all my copper on wall lights though.

Trying to sneak up on them and steal the core is annoyingly hard.

So you type
prid <ID of companion>
press enter, then type
moveto player
close the console and they should appear
Piper's ID is 0002f1f

An easier way is to simply build a warning siren that calls everyone to it in your settlement.
Toughness and Refractor are pretty much required if you want to stay stylish.
Doesn't work if your companion is lost

I've found SO MUCH of the other calibers, but for 44 I've only been able to find and buy like 10 bullets

I roll with NO armor and he had the jump on me, so I though I was a goner for sure.
But then out of no-freakin'-where 4 Minutemen show up like the goddamn calvary and start layin' into him.
Sadly, everyone besides me died, but we got the fucker.
i help him out becuse hes bro garrus
then when i come back the whole place is full of raiders and hes at the bottom of the excavation, naked and pumped up on jet with goofy face paint
