To the haters, one thing to keep in mind is that Tavis made this on fairly short notice, in addition to continuing his own comics. I wouldn't hold it as the absolute example of what he's capable of.
Yup. And that's why I've withheld comment until now, myself.
IMO, it's not the best. And that's understandable, and okay.
I actually don't have problems with this comic. Regardless of that, I don't think doing something under time pressure is an excuse for a work. I think it's an excuse for the artist not doing their best work. ET is widely considered one of the worst games of all time. I think it's crap, and I've never heard of anybody who likes it. It was made by the Howard Scott Warshaw who did Yar's Revenge, a widely regarded classic. But ET was made under extreme pressure (relatively speaking, way more than this comic was). ET is still a terrible game, but I don't hold that against the creator.
Some years back, there was a poster here who was... confident in his plans for a series of fantasy novels/TV show, titled A Gang of Daggers, about a group of unpopular, outcast young men who find a portal to a realm where teenagers are respected as and get to act like his idea of adults, drinking, boning hot chicks, getting in fights, and so on and so forth.
It was not high-quality fiction.
edit: I should say, in the interest of fairness, he put far more hours and hard work into his dream than I've ever managed. This isn't said as a backhanded remark, I always respected his sheer determination.
I dunno, I just think the most important part of this story was the part skipped between posts 3 and 4. I guess I get frustrated when there are details and clues but not enough context to do anything with them. I was confused because there were lots of husks but only one kid missing, and the red sash on the bush in the last frame looked like a clue that the kid ran away, but maybe it was meant to show where he was eaten instead. And if the wolf could take on four Lookouts and eat one of them (without the other three even noticing), why would he run away from the remaining three? Oh well, I'm dense.
Well, somebody's staying alive long enough to have all these kids.
The stork?

My interpretation of this story is
kid goes to fight a wolf thing that wants treats
its an ambush! fight scene. uhoh wolf has gone super saiyajin.
aftermath. one of the kids is missing. the wolf has taken his due.
this is all i needed to know about this story.
it is a very simple story and does not require paragraphs of lore.
i have questions, yes. i do not mind that i have questions. i do not need them answered. i prefer my own imaginings as to why these things are going on to any hard coded authorial codex. i provide my own answers. i like it better that way. i do not feel that such a codex would in any way enrich or improve this story.
Morninglord on
(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.
Consider the following: the forest is so goddamn dangerous that this is what their society considers "kid's stuff"
Imagine the kind of horrible stuff that demands adult attention.

I would like to see a comic about the adult stuff at some point. Even just hinting at it. Maybe one of the lookouts could stumble across it accidentally and be all

I've read over this a few times now, and think I've puzzled it out. The wolf is a spirit that eats bones, you can see the skins of the taken children at his feet in the first part, and being burned in the last one. When the lookouts attacked, they destroyed the elderly host body and released the spirit, that eagerly possessed a much younger vessel, the blonde Lookout. The Wolf/Lookout then fled into the forest, leaving his sash behind, his friends calling after him and looking for him as he heads out again... to feed.

Unless it's the first generation of the Lookouts.
But then Dark Souls happened.
