guys. I don't know what happened. Whenever I play Forza 6 I still really love it but I just have no desire to ever boot it up anymore and I'd much rather play horizon.
That took more work than usual, thanks to adding Joe's crew for our biggest field since launch week. Looking at the Quali results for Lime Rock and remembering the grid (Replay didn't save), something definitely broke there. Otherwise, fun races, for most of us at least.
Joe will get a bucket for next week, I think -5% Power will do it. Acid and I probably still need another +5 PI, Michel will get at least a +5 but I'll talk with him and figure what he needs (or if he wants to switch cars, since he doesn't seem to be enjoying the Daytona). The rest seem competitive or wildly swingy (hi Arctic!).
Then gotta figure out a Spec for next season, pitches are welcome.

Lime Rock should have gone better for me to be sure. Swinginess was largely due to my being victimized repeatedly through that race (which you unfortunately can't see since your replay didn't save :P ).
Anyway, don't worry about PI for me. The car is hardly overpowered, as WG shows (I really thought I would do well there for its similarities to Road Atlanta, but ... herp-the-derp) and I'm largely just getting by on consistency. Walrus almost certainly should have beaten me on Road America and I mostly got lucky that he botched about two more corners than he could have afforded.
So...having sold a bunch of stuff on eBay, including an XB1 game I was never going to finish--haha, fuck you digital distribution (I love you digital distribution, please don't hurt me)--I've been able to justify picking up Forza 6 finally. Hopefully I'll have the sense to play it more often than I did Forza 5 (which I actually had no real complaints about).
I probably should've dropped in on this thread to see if there was any better deals than $39 on Amazon for it new (I had a bunch of credit too).
Well, that's fun. @Knight_ , want to spend some time doing laps? The whole allowed tuning thing is going to make a monkey of me regardless. :P
The group "discussed" (and attempted) this particular challenge last night.
I use quotes there because I am not sure inventive strings of obscenities, threats and wishing for the sweet release of death can really be considered "discussion".
To say the least, we were equally displeased with the idea of Turn10 locking a car behind one of their best racers on staff as we were with the previous month locking a car behind putting up with League races. The fact he's going to be improving on his already Leaderboard-Topping time over the month saw most of us to just say fuck it after finding out just how perfect you have to drive an okay-car-with-the-best-of-tunes around Brands Hatch.
fuuuuuuuck. Triton is really good. If it was a higher class car I'd probably have him as I've raced him in S and R in FM6. He's less good at those classes, but shiiiiit I don't want to drive a wraith anywhere, and especially not brands hatch.

Well that's all lovely. XD
I might have read too much into the wording, but the article did say it was "the only way you can get <car> in February." So it might be a wider release later on.
Anyway, I enjoy this sort of thing whether I can actually get the prize or not. It's not like one car when we have a garage of several hundred is a big deal in the grand scheme of things, and I enjoy that it's (generally) a badge of merit for those who do get it (minus the 100 randos they gift it to for participating ...). But I'm weird, I know. ;P
Joe sent me the start of the idea for a possible rally series. Feel free to come up with ideas or changes.
Cars:
Lancia Delta Integrale
Subaru legacy rs
Mitsubishi galant vr4
Toyota Celica alltrac st185
Ford escort Cosworth
B575
Required mods:
Rally car aero (the Lancia misses out here )
Largest turbo possible
Race brakes
Race sway bars
Roll cage
Race weight reduction
235/245mm tires (depending on availability)
Stock suspension
Stock drivetrain (driveshaft is free for the sake of pi tuning)
Stock tire compound
Stock wheel size
Stock engine (no swaps) and drivetrain layout
Stock aspiration
Disallowed mods:
Cams
Non-rally wheels
No, I am not really communist. Yes, it is weird that I use this name.
A man who attempted to cut some laps of Australia’s fastest racetrack — Mount Panorama, Bathurst — on a ride-on lawnmower has been hospitalised after crashing into a fence and being flung over the concrete wall.
I envisioned some shirtless, sunburnt, dead drunk Aussie howling and whooping as he swung an empty beer can over his head while chugging though the downhill corkscrew.

If you read the actual story, you're wrong, but also not. He did indeed crash in the final corner before the long straight, exactly where you'd expect. The fun note was "ride-on mowers don't have brakes."
Sorry for the (partly but not entirely XCOM2 related) delay on the SBC Results.
Joe won, Ebo got 2nd and Cows just beat out Arctic for 3rd (by 1 point).
I'm fine with the Rally Series, but I'm assuming those are all AWD, which I know my attempts to push AWD series in the past weren't all that welcome. If nothing else, we could always do it as a 2-week Mini-Series.
Not had a lot of time lately, but we talked about this in-game last week. I think the Rally set-up will be okay for a mini-series, with some changes. The big thing is Stock Drivetrain (aka Stock Clutch, Stock Transmission, Stock Diff) isn't going to fly with me, personally. So, we drop that and it looks like this:
Cars:
Lancia Delta Integrale
Subaru legacy rs
Mitsubishi galant vr4
Toyota Celica alltrac st185
Ford escort Cosworth
B575
Required mods:
Rally car aero (the Lancia misses out here )

If people want to try building out one of these cars and seeing if it's something people are up for.
Worst case we drop the Stock Suspension (since I imagine that'd be the next sticking point, even if it doesn't bother me that much) and run the cars that way, keeping it to a Mini-Series since I know people don't like AWD.
I've been pretty locked into the Xbox ecosystem for my gaming needs for years, largely due to that's where Forza is. If Forza's moving on to other places, maybe I don't need to have an Xbox anymore? If Forza moves on, Halo is pretty much the last pin holding me into the Xbox, and I'm not sure that's enough.

I'll finally have a reason to suck at Forza again if they move it to the PC and I can dust off the fanatec wheel.
edit: also I couldn't take that pretendracecars article seriously without reading it in Professor Frink's voice.... The kind of NFA sim racer who can't see the forest for the specular reflection on the sap dripping off the trees.

Pretend Race Cars
The worst site you could possibly visit for Sim Racing news.
So I'm guessing it is going to have the usual constraint where PC and console players can't play multiplayer together.
This would actually surprise me a bit if they split the community like that. I mean, we're not talking about a FPS where fine mouse control will dominate a gamepad-user, and I can't really imagine that having a smoother frame-rate would result in an advantage (and, if the game's simulation model is tied to frame-rate, just eat the criticisms and enforce a 30 or 60fps frame limit...whichever one Forza 6-XB1 uses). If anything, I would think that a racing game would be ideal for cross console-PC gaming (I mean, look at Rocket League).
| Origin/R*SC: Ein7919 | Battle.net: Erlkonig#1448 | XBL: Lexicanum | Steam: Der Erlkönig (the umlaut is important) |
And yet, Rocket League was released on the Xbox One with no cross-platform play because Microsoft has explicitly forbidden it.
MS really needs to yank its head out of its own butt if it really wants this Xbox/Win10 unified platform to work.
Thinking about it a bit, it kind of makes sense. If XB1-Rocket League were cross-platform enabled, it would open the proverbial floodgates: because RL is cross-platform enabled between PC and PS4, if XB1 joined in the crossplat now, they'd have to enable PS4/XB1 cross-plat (which they absolutely will not do). I'm pretty sure that if RL was on XB1 before PS4, we'd be seeing XB1-PC cross-platform play.

That is... an odd pack. A FANTASTIC video though, but a very odd pack.

Perhaps I can interest you in my meager selection of pins?
Leaked Porsche expansion details.
20 cars
48 new events
Virginia International Raceway (with day, night, and wet)
$20
March 1st
Steam: Kemlo
In forza 4 the cars become super integrated into the main "campaign", hopefully that's what happens again this time

Personally I would love to take the Celica and pronounce it 5 different ways the entire series.

oh well, won't have to worry about finding where the mute settings on the xbox one are anytime soon.
