You should probably bring a buddy if you arent great at platform jumping, because if you miss and slide down, you'll die and its a 30 second respawn timer and with randoms you dont always get revived.
Just a heads up.
is it still 30 seconds if you just do the regular map version? i thought that one was like 5 seconds and self respawn
It is 30 seconds in the regular, yes, also I havent seen anyone doing this strike that wasnt there for the Ghost in the 2 times I've been there.
My tips for Iron Banana (PS4 version):
- start Destiny and choose your class
- pick up the bounties
- equip (if possible) the class item, one of the emblems, one of the shaders (Goldspiral or Million Million) for more rep
- check in the roster if fellow PAers are online and playing IB
- if you see a fireteam, press your PS button and check if they have a party
- if so, jump in the party (don't be afraid to ask!) and ask if there's a spot free; even in a filled party of 6, there might be someone who may be leaving
- if not, create your own party and name it "Iron Banana" or something, so that other PAers can easily find it; invite other PA Bananaers over
This will ensure that you won't be alone AND the PA parties will grow to full capacity, and therefore, more success.
Finally maxed all three sub-classes on my warlock.
There is now only equipment and learning enough about the other classes in the game to predict all the ways in which they can offer themselves as a sacrifice to me.
I find the PVP in Destiny unusually easy. I never kicked ass this hard in TF2 or Halo 4 PVP. I wonder if I'm getting matched up against a lot of low-light players.
Well. I find I don't like you anymore.
To be fair, I play video games for a living, including shooter games. I'm allowed to be slightly above average, which is all I am.
Also Destiny allows for more clever play than a lot of games, and I am a sneaky bastard.
oh man, I just went to see what you guys were talking about and saw this gem of a comment of disbelief from 3 months ago:
What a load of crap. Even if such a bug existed, Bungie would patch it ASAP then reset those that abused it.
Yea, my current theory from noticing that my alts who weren't logged on today have IB ranks of 0 through the API now when they still had 5 this morning is that the "Manual Switch" they flipped was resetting every characters IB rank to 0.
Thats an adorable little comment, I bet he believes that Bungie banned a single hunter over the Quiver super abuse during that shitty IB too right.
Hahahaha, sure they did.
If only...
People have difficulty understanding how ROI works in the games industry, especially for games that are not eSports or subscription-based.
Moreover, there is such a thing as a naive exploiter who is not an active toxic element to the game but who will treat temporary exploits the way most people treat SRL: a way to shorten the grind for what they actually want.

Starting out with "People have difficulty understanding" makes you sound like a condescending goose, just an FYI, especially since you dont seem to know what you are talking about.
Bungie has a solid record of testing who did or did not abuse things knowingly back from their Halo days, where they actually did ban people for abusing glitches and for being general twats, Halo is also and has never been an eSport or a subscription-based game.
Believing that any of the Hunters who intentionally abused the Quiver glitch in IB which was the event I brought up, to actually be a "Naive exploiter" is also, incredibly naive in itself.

Yeah, the hammerspam glitch you could do by accident. The quiver thing required doing something fairly weird as far as normal play went. You might do it once but nobody is popping open their inventory mid-super on a regular basis just because.

I think it was even Bungie that coined the term "Banhammer" that happened for a reason.

Yeah, Microsoft-Bungie was pretty aggressive about curbing that sort of behavior.
I know my opinion may not be popular but I support celebratory teabagging. Not only because I do it myself but because it is funny and harms no one.

Teabagging is just a shorthand for me to help me quickly figure out who I don't want to associate with. Kind of like how I can tell what kind of military leader I'm dealing with if they eat chow before their subordinates. Not comparing the two acts directly, just a very simple and accurate (for me) time saving observation to categorize people I want to avoid if possible.
My opinion, not 100% accurate test ( @squall99x is a dirtbag scrub that I can't seem to avoid, for example).
Happy Holidays! I finally decided to buy the expansion on sale this week.
I've ready hit level 40 and I'm rockin' those blues and greens until I get legendary marks.
I'm not wrong right? That new system is a long and terrible grind?
Any room in Pax Arcadia or Pax Arcadia II at this point?
I'm still seeing a bunch of you that I used to raid with online. Looking forward to the fight Guardians!
(PS4)
You should be able to get purples to start dropping for you, especially by doing daily missions, daily crucibles, Nightfalls, Heroic Strikes, Raids, etc.
Also, this week is Iron Banner which has good gear generally so you can also get some stuff from that, but sounds like you are familiar with the basics of the game already.
I know my opinion may not be popular but I support celebratory teabagging. Not only because I do it myself but because it is funny and harms no one.
I only find it obnoxious if you do it wrong. Like, I will report you for unsportsmanlike conduct wrong. And when I do that it's no longer obnoxious. There are rules to these sorts of things. :P
Like, the earlier example of "teabagging" from sniping? Reported. It's a mockery of the gesture. You can't hide in a corner and teabag... it's just incomprehensible to me.
Teabagging when a match is a no-contest? Also wrong. My Internet Bushido is strong.

I'm actually super pumped to get on tonight. Mostly because I miss you guys and because I want to see how different Crucible feels with the weapon balance changes! It's truly been that long since I've PvP'd!
Also, @Catastrophe_XXVI - there's probably room on PS4. I need to do quick check for inactivity and probably kick one or two people who haven't logged on in six-seven months. Send me a PM so that I have a reminder when I get home later tonight?

@GMaster7 it would be cool if my PS4 side (BlueberryWerewlf) would stay in the group, but since i'm not playing much on that side at all i wouldn't be terribly upset if i got bumped to make room for someone
To balance my grumpiness today, I just want to let all the lurkers and new players out there that Iron Banner is a great way to get introduced to the PA community. I lurked for probably a month or two when I first starting playing, just doing "solo" Destiny and occasionally grouping with my RL friends. Saw the commotion for Iran Bahrain and joined a couple of PA parties. Had a blast, realized I was an idiot for not joining the community earlier, and ever since then I've been an incompetent, yet entertaining drag on all the PA fireteams I've joined over the last few months.
So join us and make me the second worst player in the group!
Seriously. Great community, great fun, zero pressure, and perfect time to join us. I'm Hawkbeard on PS4 and I always start a party when I'm online and start inviting all the PAers on my friends list, so hit me up if you want to be part of that illustrious group.

It's funny to think about how nervous I was to talk to PAers on voice chat around Destiny's launch (and before that, the beta). Now it's like... what plants crave, or whatever
Edit: As in, I love it and it's no big deal. So if you're a lurker or you haven't grouped up with unknown PA people, I'll echo @Unicron80's sentiment that IB is the perfect time for it.
Thats an adorable little comment, I bet he believes that Bungie banned a single hunter over the Quiver super abuse during that shitty IB too right.

A game company is going to try to fix things in order of importance but will be stuck with what is possible given their current available staffing and other priorities. They also are not generally going to hunt down every single exploiter unless they perceive it to be valuable to do so. There are whole sections of the audience that are non-malicious exploiters who aren't trying to break the game but will jam on a button if it keeps putting out food pellets. They have to be dealt with when the situation is bad, but some people don't think about the consequences of their actions.
Looking at the bug in question, it's probably not a scenario of naive exploiters (the loot cave is a better example of said, even if it supposedly wasn't an exploit per Bungie), but rather of a pain in the ass coding nightmare.
is The Event Which Must Not Be Named, so we maintain strict adherence (not actually) to referring to it only by other words with matching initials, or that sound basically similar, or whatever.
I do apologize if I seemed to be condescending; I was making an observation about a portion of the audience, not targeting anyone in particular, and certainly not anyone here. There are a ton of people who think that fixing X weapon has to be the #1 priority and every second it is not fixed is proof that Bungie is destroying the free world.

On the one hand, it does seem like an inside joke that is impenetrable to those on the outside. On the other hand, if a person has made it far enough to not only buy a ps4 and Destiny, but also read this thread and want to be a part of our group, then it's pretty easy to figure out.

I also did not try this thing and can confirm that it is indeed fixed.

Crows control, feathered mag/reinforced barrel/hand loaded, counterbalance.
Counterbalance will essentially eliminate any horizontal recoil. I think it'll be pretty decent. Need to see it in action for sure, though.

Activision-Bungie has gone pretty soft. Circa Reach and the credit exploit:

They don't seem to do much banning/actioning beyond network manipulation exploiters.

yeah that was unclear. I meant receiving your food and eating earlier than your subordinates. It's bad.
