Though, it seems karma has to balance such an awesome early Christmas gift by apparently frying my hard drive on my gaming laptop just yesterday.
I am not great with diagnostics, but it's what I presume to be the case.
Crying shame, as I tried all that I can to boot the OS to no avail. (Using my cellphone right now)
Repair disk, chkdsk prompts among a couple other things I tried don't work. T_T
Gonna try and reinstall of win7 from the CD, since it may have to do with the downloaded yet uninstalled win10 update that may have corrupted the files.
Those MS bastards are persistent in having that blasted thing in my laptop.
If that doesn't work, then my HD is probably dead in the water.

Does your game time have to be exactly under two hours to get a refund or do they take kind of an "ehh..fuck it, you can have the refund" approach if its a tiny bit over that?

Probably has to be exact because it's probably automated. You could probably submit a ticket but.... well... that's a dark, cold, frightening road...

We'll see what happens.
Decided to fuck myself over by playing another hour despite having thoughts of going after that refund after all.
Story and Premise
The Wizard King is an evil tyrant who has caused the kingdom to be swarmed by monster! Only Lea, sole user of the Mach Punch technique and Leo, the Mountain without a Past dare fight back!
The Wizard King, vexed by the opposition, chooses to curse them! They shall be hounded by Death itself forever! Only Allison, a Rogue Alchemist dares help them! By brewing the Elixir of Life, their curse can be lifted! Only way to get the ingredients is to kill many monsters on the way to the Wizard King's castle.
Basic Gameplay
Curses 'N Chaos is a 1-screen Arcade-style Beat 'em Up suitable for one to two players.
The gameplay is simple. One button attacks, one button jumps. One button uses whatever item uou have on you, one button calls Owliver to store the item you have on you or summon the item you stored. There's also a button to run. Also, you can double jump and dance.
Each level has 10 waves and a boss. Each level starts you with 3 lives, each with 5 HP. Survive 10 waves, kill the boss and advance.
Advanced Gameplay
There is a bit of depth to this game. For one, there is a large number of items you can use, each with unique effects. For two, there's the chain system. For every monster you kill without getting hit, a counter goes up and drops have a higher chance of being better.
Also, you can get money to buy items between stages AND you can try and mix items to get new ones. A lot of depth in there! New items can be equipped, allowing you to start a stage with up to 3 items (for 2 players) as you can equip Lea, Leo and Owliver.
Laslty, you have a few different moves. a punch deal 1 point of damage, but if you run before punching, you do a mach punch that deals double damage. If you upercut by holding up as you attack, you will also deal double damage with a different attack hitbox. Lastly, attack while in the air to do a divekick that also does 2x damage. The attack range is very short, which makes the game challenging. It's all about figuring the best risk/reward balance for each enemy and there's a lot of different enemy types!
Presentation
The game has very retro pixel graphics. Like, super duper retro. It might turn you off and that's okay. However, it has some gorgeous pixel art for the intro cutscene and sprites are really clear at a super low resolution.
The music is also very catchy.
Challenge level
The difficulty is probably the thing that comes up the most about Curses 'N Chaos. it has a learning curve, that's for sure. The main problem is that you have very short range on your normal attacks and that much of the strategy is to chain kills together without being hit. in other words, you need to get close enough to enemies to kill them without getting too close and letting them hit you. You also need to balance item use. There are several healing items. Apples heal 1 HP, meat 2, potions 3 and blue potions a whopping 4 (all your health unless you're already dead.) It's all about knowing when to hold em and knowing when to throw 'em.
A lot of people mentioned that the game is "too hard" but I find the level of challenge to be just right. I'm not particularly good at video games and I reached level 2 in about 2 hours of play. If the game was as hard as they say, I would've given up by now, haha.
You need to play smartly and not see this as a pure action game. It's very strategic and pattern recognition is how you win here.
Recommendation? I HEAVILY RECOMMEND CURSES 'N CHAOS! It's cheap (only $10 on Steam) and it's been on sale for 50% off already once on Steam. Add it to your wishlist and get it next sale... or now. It's totes worth it!
it's a super good game that more people should play.
Also, it has online co-op as well as couch co-op. Super worth it if you have pals!
I got it about a month ago and after 8 hours, according to steam, I have managed to get to the 5th level.
Game certainly doesn't fuck around, but manages to be super enjoyable and not at all frustrating.
That's because they really nail risk/reward.
i never once felt like the game was being unfair. I mean, the game would be easier if you didn't have pathetically short attack range, but it's built around that in such a way that you just need to figure out the patterns to not die.

Good to see someone got some fun out of that key I had around.
Would've loved to join in but today was specially busy. Maybe another time, another FNG. :P
Ok, so after more than a day of just trying desperately to get my laptop fixed, here is what's on the down low...
Initially, I ran a Win7 update that required a restart.
Once it restarted, whatever happened; it caused the boot screen to appear in series of random letters and numbers. It though it looked associated with the error prompts that are usually seen after a regular system crash (similar to run in Safe Mode, etc.), but I couldn't make heads or tails of what it said.
I forgot how I resolved this dilemma, but eventually I was able to repair and make the wording legible again to see the what was the error.
Found this;
error: 0xC000021
I actually encountered this error once a week before, but the problem fixed itself on its own. I had little clue as how it got fixed. Even though I had the repair disk inside it, I never ran it.
Some research indicated the my HD was heading towards the end of its lifespan. Being 3 years old, among laptops, it was a possible occurrence as it turned out, so I assumed the problem was within my HD's longevity.
But still; I wasn't about to give up without expending all my options.
So~ running the recovery disk to detect my drive failed. The recovery tool could not detect the drive AT ALL! It wasn't listed anywhere!
Running any command prompts or using any other options on the recovery disk was a fruitless effort.
Going through every possible setup in the BIOS was a waste as well, regardless of the countless times and hours I put into it.
I scratch my head around this and search the net through my phone for possible solutions only to come up with nil.
Going through the BIOS, I find the option of syncing and removal of the Intel SSD acceleration caching.
I go through both of them respectively, and run the recovery tool again to finally find my drive finally pop up into existence. HOORAY!!
After running start up recovery, it seems the error is still prevalent.
error: 0xC0000221 *sigh*
Despite running the start up tool as instructed multiple times and running command prompts, my situation remained unchanged. Then, I noticed something....
My HD, along with the OS, was listed under "D:" instead of "C:"
Huh?
Don't know how or why this happened, but looking it up, it was clear this was not supposed to be a thing. How did my recovery and OS drives get switched!?
Looking at a typed tutorial online, and running a string of bootrec.exe and other miscellaneous command prompts from my recovery disk; I was finally able to get by BIOS to boot my OS proper.
Did it work? I finally got a Safe mode option!!
NOPE!!
Got a corrupted boot file.
I'm jaded. But determined.
Let's run the start up recovery tool from the disk and call it a day... let's run it in Safe mode one last time!
Slowly, but surely. I was finally able to see Windows finally boot up. It breathes signs of life and I finally saw my screensaver fade into brightness.
It's been learning experience, and a trying ordeal. Yet with it, I am becoming incredibly wary of upgrading to Win10 due to it.
BUT I CAN FINALLY GAME AGAIN!!!

If your laptop is 3 years old (made in 2012), then the HD in it is probably of similar vintage. 2012 was a Very Bad Year for hard drives; the floods in Thailand in 2011 tanked HD production and manufacturers were scrambling like mad to fill demand in 2012.
I have had to replace three drives this year; two Seagates and one WD, all manufactured in early 2012. That compares to two hard drive failures ever in the previous 28-oh-god-I'm-old years of owning devices with hard drives in them.
So I second everyone else's advice to buy a new HD at your earliest convenience and swap it out.

Ku: Shroud of the Morrigan is not a well-made game. It gives controller prompts in messages, but the prompts are incorrect, as in order to do various things (like, oh, say, ATTACK) the cursor needs to be over the target. But the game is annoying to control with the mouse when moving around. So basically you need to use the mouse to attack, but joystick to move. It's just...badly made.
Hey, I've been getting on a kick for economy games. I bought Anno 2205 and while its a nice intro, there's no real... competition? It parades as a SimCity/Economy game, but really its more like a Tetris tile placer to max out all the space to get the most efficient output.
I'm in the process of downloading Anno 2070 because watching some old youtube vids shows it more like what I'm looking for.
Anybody got recommendations for Economy Games like "The Corporate Machine" and Anno 2070?

Industry Tycoon 2 is something of a classic in the genre, but is... dubious about working on modern machines. The Steam release seems reasonably stable, though.
The Tropico series is pretty fun, and in the same line as Anno, but is really closer to the Simcity / Economy. Startopia is another pretty fun one, but it is more management level.
Maybe I'm just in denial, or a hoarder, or a combination of both. Why would I delete any of the games in my backlog that I want to play, but just haven't gotten around to playing yet? I also don't want to delete games from my Steam library, regardless on how "bad" they are. I guess I'm actually sort of ticked off that Valve decided instead of removing the bad games from their service, to just give the people the option to remove the bad games that they've already bought, and have been in more or less words "affected by", from their accounts to help the people forget that they even exist. What is keeping them from doing what really needs to be done and putting a little more effort into their QA about which games get on their service?
At one point your (grand)children will look to your Steam account and try to wonder what kind of person you were.
It's in this moment when you don't want VNs with bi-curious, mutant, transforming protagonists that will forever change the cherished moments they had of you in their memories.
What are you talking about? By the time I have grandkids, bi-curious transforming mutants will be real.
I'll be seen as progressive if I have that game in my account!

The whole thing sounds like an adventure and a half, but I wanted to single this part out because something similar happened to me a couple months ago. A crash due to failing RAM somehow corrupted key system files; drive letters were wrong, and the OS, while technically still there, was inaccessible. None of Windows' fancy auto-repair tools could fix it, safe mode wouldn't launch since there was no OS detected, and every attempt to fix system files, master boot record, etc. from the command line and/or install media ended in failure. Ultimately had to reinstall - thankfully, everything important was on the HDD and backed up, so the only thing it cost me was time.
Basically, that's the kind of weird stuff you'll see if system files are damaged, like from hardware failure. The worst part is since it's something so basic, it throws a lot of misleading symptoms that can point in the wrong direction while trying to fix it.
