So I know Steam is showing Rise of the Tomb Raider releasing in January.
But is there any outside confirmation that this is accurate? I did a quick google and everyone just points to the Steam page as evidence. But ... well, could the Steam page not be wrong?
Because basically I have enough Amazon money left over from Xmas to either preorder Tomb Raider or buy a couple months of Final Fantasy XIV sub time. Whether or not the January release is accurate is going to heavily influence my decision here...

Steam page could be wrong, but given how those are set up by the people selling the game and not Valve, I imagine they have some clue when its coming out.

There were news stories before the store page came up. They mentioned January as well.
I mean, if it WAS wrong Square would have changed the page by now given they control all aspects of it.
There were loads of early rumors of a Jan 26-29 release (29 being EU) before the page showed up, so it's coming, but very likely toward the end of the month.

That @jclast , I dunno. Classy bugger. He sends me a Steam key, wishing me a Happy Steamsmas, but it turns out it was an accidental duplicate that had already been used. Still, it's the thought that counts, and that was very awesome of him.
But he was not content to let this lie. A true hero, he rises like the prodigy he is... okay, you try fitting those words into a sentence!
tl;dr @jclast is a lovely, super-classy gent (as ever) and you should all gift him oodles of stuff because I'm a bit lot tapped at the moment.
When I decided I wouldn't be re-subbing to FF14 after all (Tomb Raider!), that led me to stop playing because what's the point (I have one free day left), which led me to not having a clue what to play instead... which led to @destroyah87NOT HELPING AT ALL!
Thanks, you classy monster! I've had an eye on this since it was supposed to release at Halloween and then didn't ... It looks cute as hell.
But thank you much! Dragon Fin Soup, besides having an awesome name, looks like a wonderful bit of fun. I mean, how could I resist playing a crass alcoholic bounty hunter in a roguelike tactical RPG? That's a recipe for awesome!

Play Tales from the Borderlands!
It's relatively short and wonderful.
You make a valid argument.
But that's the thing - I have SO MANY games that are "short and wonderful" (or short... or wonderful...) that I go to play one and immediately think "yes, but what about X" and then "there's also Z" and it's a terrible endless spiral that ends up with me playing none of the above.

No, I agree with akajaybay. Just go play Tales from the Borderlands. Problem solved.

Thank you so much to @tuxkamen for sending me a copy of Sid Meier's Pirates! Since I'm not accepting gifts, I cannot accept it, but I truly appreciate the generous gesture!
I may have spoken too soon on upgrades. Only half my ram is being used. Think I may have gotten a faulty stick which is apparently a thing that happens.
Been troubleshooting for a while, and I may have found some other issues too oh boy...

Thank you @Talus9952 for The Journey Down: Chapter 1
Did anyone play Towns? I heard they let it kind of die on the vine. I need a recommendation. I want to build things. Dwarf Fortress is...I don't know, maybe more complicated than I want. I want something in between uh...Minecraft and Fallout 4 (kind of over the minecraft system and Fallout 4, at my level and with no mods there's too much shooting and inventory management in the way of building - Fallout 4 is for when I want to shotgun people's faces). I just want to get resources and build things and then build bigger things. But not like Civ where you just pick from a list of buildings. I don't know what I'm asking for. Hmm. Anyone have any ideas for me?
Also, does anyone want to trade? I have extras of #1, #4 & #9 and I need #3, #10, & #11.
I think I might end up getting a new GTX 970 as a late Christmas present from the folks when I go home later next month, will that and a i7-2600 be enough to play Ark on decent settings? I thought I remember hearing it had some issues running on a lot of rigs.
@KoopahTroopah AssRev closes the Ezio and Altier stories out and segues the modern story to where it needs to be. You still need to watch the Ezio movie on youtube to end that story properly, then play Ass China.
As far as AssRev goes, it lacks the character conflict that drove the first two games. I cannot remember the enemies I fought and their plots were underwhelming compared to the Borgias. It also continued the Ezio trilogy's trend of hemmoraging strong female characters left and right. RE: AssCree 2 discusion and AssBro spoilers.
I could deal with two prostitute assassins, there was a wide range of female characters and sexual empowerment. But they're all gone in Brotherhood.
I count maybe one interesting female in Revolution. Or maybe I just miss Caterina Sforza.....instrument to make more.....heh.
So a classmate gifted me Binding of Issac: Rebirth. Nice fellow.
Upon mulling over Phantom strikers and my copy of PS2 rumble roses. I realize I would really enjoy an action game or a brawler where the female main character(s) had brutal fighting moves and finishers, but dressed....normally. Like Velma Dinkle normal. Hoodie and sweats. Puffy down jacket and a beanie covering most of her head.

Towns is a cantankerous game but once I came to grip with the quirks I had a lot of fun building a town and setting it up to support a bunch of heroes. It never met its potential but if you go it with an open mind and a willingness to deal with quite a few rough edges it does some really fun things. And never, ever look at any community sites for the game. It's pretty much pure bile at this point.

Having played it on XB1, it's glorious too, especially if you liked the previous one.
I can only imagine how good the snow is going to look on PC.
Huh, I've never seen Blood Omen 2 written out that way. I know the original was written that way though.
Steam Support is the worst. Seriously, the worst
and They Promptly retaliated for my gifting.
Idx86: The Binding of Issac
TeeMan: Crypt of the NecroDancer, Darkest Dungeon
Hank Facepunch: Distance
And BloodyRo finally got his revenge
BloodyRo: Stacking, Savant - Ascent, Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken, Insecticide Part 1, Blockstorm.
The people here are super Classy.
Thanks! Been eyeing this one off for a while!
I was like that with AlienFX on my laptop.
Don't worry, it gets better.
...Eventually.

I mean, yeah. I played TR2013 three times. There's not much chance I won't love this one, and no chance I won't buy it on day 1.
I just wanted to be sure it really is coming out soon so I don't spend money on FF14 and then find myself short when TR releases.
I'm trying to find the right shade of pink for the ripple effect when I hit a key.
