You know, I'm kinda bothered that Valve still hasn't apologized (at the VERY least) for their fuckup.
Steam pretty much shits the bed on Christmas Day every year (at least for the past 3 years), they've never apologized for it before, and they probably won't now (even though it was definitely worse this year as it was a data security issue). They probably think people are too distracted by sales to care.

Valve's policy on everything seems to be "fuck you, deal with it".
Well the info leak is much much worse, and the only official statement I've seen on it from them played it off as inconsequential information.

This monstrosity popped up in my queue today. It's taking me an awful lot of willpower to not buy a bunch of copies and spread it around this thread like the plague.
Sitting around being lazy and watching @KoopahTroopah stream some Armello. Decide I should log onto Steam because I might have time to squeeze out another gifting while they're in between games and trying to add @akajaybay. akajaybay had other plans.
Thanks bro! Been hearing lots of best Telltale game yet talk about this, definitely gonna be on it soon. Hope Armello's going well, I'm missing it thanks to you. :P

Lemmy died tonight. As soon as I get back to my pc, I'm going too 100% Brutal Legend in his honour.
Playing a 16 bit adventure game called Why am I Dead at Sea Currently and it's quite good so far. Like Ghost Trick X Earthbound by way of a closed room murder mystery. You start the game as a glimmer of a ghost that is informed they are dead, and you need to solve your own murder. Game takes place on a cruise ship with only like 7 people on board, so the killer must be one of them. You can possess people and a lot of them have unique abilities (a cat can jump to a vent, one's a pickpocket that can inform you what a character is holding). The trouble is, you can't possess people willy nilly, they need to be open for it, and in most cases that means solving their emotional baggage. And so there's loads of mini-stories to uncover, character relationships to play out, and some clever puzzles involving possession.
It's 5 bucks in the sale and appears to be going under the radar largely, only has like 30 or 40 reviews.
Huh, I've never seen Blood Omen 2 written out that way. I know the original was written that way though.
Blood Omen 2 does not exist.
Do not look directly at it. To do so is to court madness. That is how awful it is.
I thought we all agreed never to utter it's name again and burned all copies of the thing?

Wait, I think I played this when this was a flash game. It bugged out on me and I couldn't finish it, but is this the game where ENDING SPOILERS
the twist is that you were the killer all along, or something? I remember something twisty like that.

Yeah there's a flash game called just Why am I Dead that takes place in a hotel with a different cast so I don't think they're going to use the same sort of ending. I'd hope, at least.
Thanks to @Ed Gruberman for arranging the Armello night. Gave it the ol' college try but there is only so much of the RNG doing this that I can take and so just ended up grumpy and quitting midway through the second game. Sorry about that.
Thanks to @Berylline for Marvin's mittens. I had it on my wishlist since she mentioned something about it a while back. It's a perfect "look how bad Daddy is at platformers" game for my daughter!
Oh ya, and @Pixelated Pixie , I agree that you should give Tales from the Borderlands a shot. You likely won't have the problem of wanting to play anything else once you get into it. It has the cutest robot ever created.
oh and @Crippl3 thank you very much for the Antichamber giveaway. I watched a friend play it long ago and never got a chance to tackle it myself.
You're welcome duder

A few interesting games that came through as part of the discovery queue: Stories of Bethem: Full Moon (a totally Zelda-like) and Aerannis (A stealth-metroidvania with a rather pink clad protagonist).

I know that some of the Assassin's Creed games were supposed to go back to normal price today, but it looks like they're staying on sale. I've been keeping an eye on AC Syndicate and its page now says it's on sale until January 4. So, that's nice for people who still want to pick some of those up!
Edit: As @Sumanai points out below, it seems to vary pretty widely by game. So, keep an eye out on any you're interested in!

AC Chronicles China, Rogue and Black Flag still say 12 hours left. Also, Toy Soldiers: War Chest is on sale for another 18 minutes. Still pretty weird.

So I was getting started with Tales from the Borderlands, and the 15 minutes or so I managed to play before one of my buddies wanted to play some World of Tanks is pretty great! I'm definitely going to be sitting down with it for longer tomorrow, though.
Do I need to start raving about how good the game is? Because it's been a while since I gushed about it in the thread.
It's just too bad I'm burned out on the combat from playing XCOM. I love all the other mechanics there but would rather just have a auto-resolve for any conflicts.
So I saw the new Star Wars movie, and I think I'm going to go see it again tomorrow, which of course means I could use some Star Wars games. I see that KOTOR and KOTOR II are both like $3, worth it to get one of them or maybe both? I think they use a version of the D20 system, and I'm really not a fan of that system, but since it's a video game I probably wouldn't have to pay a ton of attention to the underpinnings of the engine right?
Also what are other worthwhile RPG-ish games set in the Star Wars universe? I don't have a joystick anymore so I don't think I'd enjoy the X-Wing and TIE Fighter games, and I don't really want to play an FPS right now.

For Star wars with anything RPG you pretty much have KOTOR 1 & 2 and The Old Republic. The D20 in KOTOR is pretty well hidden.
Force Unleashed is flawed but lots of fun Jedi best em up.
Jedi Academy is a 3rd person Jedi sim. So is Jedi Outcast, but it has fairly long FPS intro.

It's really, really hard to make a weak Jedi character in the Star Wars D20 system. Just going with soldier/Jedi Guardian types will give you a pretty straightforward experience. Both KOTOR games are your best bet for space wizard goodness. The first is more polished than the second but the second delves a lot more into the setting with twists on some of the common trappings of the setting. It has bounty hunters that actually bounty hunt, wookies that aren't just big teddy bears, droids that are coldly logical, scoundrels that don't have hearts of gold, and Sith that can actually be subtle as opposed to mustache twirling.
Jedi Academy is a more action based take but it doesn't escape the FPS backbone of the engine. It's fun, but the passive blocking that either works or doesn't won't be to everyone's taste and sometimes you do have to shoot stuff in the face either because of mission reasons or because some enemies are just not lightsaber friendly. Still, you do get to build up your lightsaber styles and force powers the way you decide so it might also scratch that itch.

what I didn't know is that since I got it out of a booster pack crafted with purchased gems I wouldn't be able to sell it ._.
