So if you have an Amazon tablet, the mobile version of KOTOR is free right now
I didn't get very far into my playthrough on Steam so I'm gonna give it another shot here
If anyone is wondering to get Jedi Academy running "correctly" on PC with the Steam or GOG versions:
Find jasp.exe,
Right click,
Create shortcut,
Right click on the shortcut,
Go to properties,
Copy and paste the following into the target line, your exact path may vary,
Why is this necessary? The new releases include a patch which has this mode write protected in the settings. With this, you can play the game as it was meant to be played with full dismemberment. If you change set g_sabermorerealistic 2 to 3, the lightsaber is deadly at ALL times. That means idle animations, death animations, etc. I also recommend the cheat, "iknowkungfu." That adds Kyle's special melee style for the player to use, as well as maxes your force powers. That can be turned on with either helpusobi 1 or devmapall.

I feel like if you start with episode one you are going to have forgotten what a good movie is by the time you get to a new hope.
Really gives the subtitle a deeper meaning.

Teacher at school was telling me about his friend's four year old daughter. She has been watching the Clone Wars through as her first experience of Star Wars and now Rebels. No prequels. At one point the dad jokingly mentioned Anakin being Darth Vader. Her response, "oh dad that is silly Anakin is a really good guy!"
He is planning on showing her the original movies pretty quick before the new one. He is going to record his daughter's expression when she finds out the twist in Empire.
I just realised that in every one of the prequels there is someone with terrible hair.
First movie was Liam Neeson.
Second was Evan McGregor.
And third was Hayden Christiansen.
Ha-wha?
Ewan McGregor doesn't have bad hair in episode two.
Because nothing physically about Ewan McGregor is bad.
The man is a physical adonis...

So, I'm getting ready for my Star Wars/X-Mas dual theme party and my roommate asked, "So, are we going to watch episode 4, 5, & 6 or start with 1, 2, & 3?"
To which I replied, "We're going to get super drunk and shit-talk a Star Wars Holiday Special because its a party..."
God damn, I live with some fucking party rookies I swear to god...
I think it would be super cool if one of the twists surrounding the new movies is that they aren't in fact episodes 7-9. We've been told they are, but until we see the episode number scroll up on the screen, nothing's official. It'd be kind of crazy if TFA was actually episode 10.

I think it could be cool, but the only reason it would be so for me would be to follow luke, leia, and han in their early post emperor lives.
Which would necessitate recasting luke, leia, and han, and I'm just really not down for that.
I'd rather save those stories for an animated series.

I did this once.
It is so bad I had to stop watching. Not even, stop paying attention to it. I had to turn it off.

Nah, the series started with episode IV. There's no hard and fast rule that every episode has to be accounted for. I would have been quite happy with no episodes 1-3 ever. The in media res nature of Star Wars (at least until 1999) was always something that appealed to me. It gets the imagination going about all the adventures that possibly happened before, between, and after.
I mean, TFA is likely going to be episode VII, so this ultimately doesn't mean anything. And I would have been quite happy with a sequel trilogy that had nothing to do with the older characters. It was just a thought I had.

Then when we finally get to 7, it starts out as someone talking to his kid, "Let me tell you about what really happened before the Empire took over...not that propaganda they tell you in school."

And that man is Buzz Aldrin.
Sure I'll take it
Hell, I'll take one of the new Star Wars movies literally opening with Mark Hamill waking up in a cold sweat after seeing flashes of the prequels and saying the words "Yipes what a horrible nightmare that is thankfully not real and never was" and then winking at the audience

"The mistakes that created the Empire, the fault for that lies behind us. We've been working our entire lives to end the Empire. Now we have hope again. And a hard struggle ahead. Are you in?"
Having not seen Star Wars since I was 10 or 11, I decided to go through the original trilogy again in prep for Force Awakens. I'm still mostly lukewarm on the first one. I love it while it's on Tatooine for that future-rustic aesthetic but after they leave Mos Eisley and are up on the Death Star, it kinda starts feeling like generic shootybang rescue mission stuff to me. The characters are also a little bit too tropey for me to care much about them.
Empire, however, I love wholeheartedly. The characters feel a lot more fleshed out and the heightened emotionality to it all makes the drama riveting. I mean, even though I know these scenes are coming, watching Han go down that carbon freezing unit and hearing Vader say that line still gives me chills. And this is the movie that introduced Yoda and the Imperial March! Fuck, my appreciation for this movie has actually increased manifold after this viewing. I've never been a big Star Wars dude but I think Empire might be one of my favourite space flicks.
Will watch Return of the Jedi in a couple of days. I remember liking it more than the original but not as much as Empire.

I've just been showing my SO through Star Wars before TFA drops, we'd watched IV previously and did Empire on Saturday night. I debated whether or not to show her Episode 1 but decided her OCD tendencies would make her go back and watch it anyway so may as well do it in order.
Unfortunately it's hard to not be spoiled on the big reveal from Empire due to cultural osmosis but she still definitely enjoyed Empire.

Liam's at least fit the crazy hippy jedi that he was.
So long hair on guys is automatically terrible?
What about the side-rat tails of the padawans in the first and second?

Something like that boom prequels washed away.

Watching the prequels shits all over the best stuff in that film, and it is still the best Star Wars movie.
