I saw the uncut version (whatever that means these days) and aside from Cena holding a towel without using his hands, I can't think of anything in it that would have been too much for the theater. And even that wasn't anything crazy.
Yo the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie sucks, but Paul Reuben's death scene made me laugh for like five fucking minutes
I don't know how you can hate any movie with Donald Sutherland, Rutger Hauer, Paul Reubens, and Kristy Swanson.
Oh the performances were (mostly) fine. But hoo boy was the direction incompetent.

@Rorshach Kringle Yo. I watched Blood Punch. Pretty fucking dynamite.
But are there problems on the soundmixing on Amazon Prime, or is just a budget thing? Because like it looked great, music was pretty good, and oozed style. But all of the sound effects, namely the gun/throwing up stuff sounded like it was coming out of ye ol vitaphone.

After watching Iron Man 3 yet again, I think I'm going to take its "Best In The Iron Man Series" card and frame it above my mantle because that thing is never ever going to come down.

i saw it in theaters and didn't notice anything, but then again i have a huge tolerance for low budget.

Oh yeah. I generally have a huge tolerance for it too. But yeah I think it would have been super noticeable in a theater too if it was there too. Kinda like free sound effect library stuff not mixed into the rest of the movie. Which given everything else seemed really unlikely. Huh weird.
But yeah everything else absolutely ruled. It played with its rules in really clever and fun ways. SO THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP.

yeah it flew under so many radars, but there is zero chance i don't walk into an indie theater playing something called blood punch
so glad i did
any movie where murder is a chore is okay in my book

Interested, but the mournful remixing of classic rock for trailer purposes needs to be curbed.
This reminds me of all those times I've tried to find a cool fight scene on Youtube, only to discover the uploader is some yahoo that thinks the scene goes better with heavy metal, nu-metal, hard rock, etc.

Since we didn't have any new movies to review for the week (we are holding off for Krampus for the Christmas show next week) I definitely gave it a good review to the Northwest Arkansas radio audience. So at least one more person will watch it.
Though the host who is much more knowledgeable on the technical side of film and specifically sound mixing and stuff thinks that a rough cut got uploaded to Amazon. Basically one without the foley work included. Which I would say describes what was up perfectly.
I liked that in the first Crouching tiger movie, the wushu may have had them flying about all over the place, but they still did the swordy stuff with one eye on making the fighting look slightly realistic.
This just looks like the kind of stuff you'd expect to see from Michael Bay making a kung-fu film.
And it was surprisingly frustrating to watch someone else use a computer like that
Just UGH YOURE DOING IT WRONG, CLEAN UP YOUR DESKTOP, DAMNIT
The very slow typing and hovering over text so you can read it made me realize why in most tv/movies, the characters read out loud what they have on their screen
its just as unnatural but slightly less frustrating

I would argue you are remembering both the original Crouching Tiger and Michael Bay films not quite right
There is like, one moment of CG in that trailer and the rest is all practical. I loved the original and this still looks great!

It's kind of amazing that every single scene in that movie has the exact same pacing
Where it starts out good and then you start checking your watch and then it keeps going for like another 3 minutes
thats exactly what QT has said his idea would be
You mean you aren't excited for all the scenes referencing scenes from better movies?

Holy shit, you guys, that last fight was the most invested I've felt in a movie in years

That movie is emotional as all get out
Is this going to be in chinese or in english.
Cause.....
Satans..... hints.....
as is Krampus
but I saw this on sale at a Big Lots the other day
has
has anyone ever watched this film
what is the point even
That's neat
Interesting concept
But it made my eyes hurt and was annoying and boring and shitty
I feel like they did the concept itself really well
They were just super terrible at like, writing characters and a plot
And it was surprisingly frustrating to watch someone else use a computer like that

Well it was written by the same man who did Gymkata
Charles Robert Carner
