Shoot a low ceiling directly above you a few times. Splash damage will cripple your head, but its relatively low damage will make it easier to do so without killing yourself.
Got back into this yesterday, loaded with the mods @Joolander suggested a few pages back. Looks real neat! This was the first time I'd really sat down and played since I got the GTX1070, and I'm really happy with the results. Of course, on Saturday I'm going on a 2-month trip so I won't get to put too much more time into it for a bit.
The only small issue I've had was being outside when it was raining, then I went under a solid overhand and the rain effects kept going, but it was a minor thing.

Yeah that issue is something the mod author for True Storms mentions on his mod page. It's apparently a vanilla game thing that's just more noticeable with his effects
If you are building settlement or whatever, there are "anti fog machines" you can build that turn off the effects when you enter the room they are in

Oh, that's what those do.
Either way, it's no big deal. Still looks really good in a rainstorm.
I had an experience with Far Harbor that had to be the single most immersive moment I've had in Fallout 4.
I was coming out of Arcadia and was shocked to find that it wasn't raining. It wasn't even foggy. In contrast to every single other moment since I had stepped foot on the island, it was a bright, sunny, clear day, and it was beautiful. From the high vantage point I could see for miles. I saw the bright sun, the blue waters, the green plants (there are some mods involved in that) the whole landscape was absolutely beautiful.
It was so clear that I could even see the angler-fish monsters in the water about 200 yards off, between me and where I was going, so I figured I'd take them out. Lined up a shot with my sniper rifle on the first and one shot it, then tried to get a shot on the second... but I couldn't see it. The water was turning dark, obscuring it from sight, and for some reason the distances were becoming blurry.
I exited out of my sniper scope to see the fog rolling in.
I actually yelled "Stupid fucking fog!" at my monitor as it rolled up the hill and engulfed me. So good job Bethesda, you made me hate the fog as much as the NPCs.
Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.
Oh for sure, I've been having a blast! Someone pointed it out a while ago, but my favorite thing in this game is just wandering in a direction and coming across some collection of items that tells a story even though no one's around. The game is janky as hell sometimes, but Bethesda absolutely nails those little discovery moments.

I have to vent. I am an old salt at modding. I make my own merged patches when neccesary. I go deep. Listen to my tale.
Day 1
i reinstall. I load up 150 or so mods. ( a few at a time with install order and stability in mind.) Runs fine for 5 minutes. Then insta ctds. Hrm. Break my load order trying to fix it. Delete, reinstall, redownload everything....
Day2
Trim out some mods I'm unsure of.... follow procedure.... looks good.... insta ctds after 5 mins. work backwards. ctd ctd ctd.
day 3
Screw all of everything. Overclocked cpu turned off. Vanilla fallout. 15 mins ctd.... followed by game wont run ctd ctd ctd. >:[ You dont get to win game. after all of this.... reinstall graphics card driver fully after a full uninstall.... the heavens part- gods own light shines upon my pc. WTH.... i have had a corrupted driver install since forever?
Oh well.... I get to roam the wastes.

Spoilers for a sidequest:
That's no way to get ahead in life
you get it at the end of the Cabot quest I think?
also its damage is pure damage- not rads
Good to know
I haven't done that quest.
But good to know.
I also hit level 50.
Feels good, man.
I think I'm going to drop the difficulty.
It's getting silly, shooting humans three times in the face with a 45-70.
And it had a 10mm pistol that shoots exploding bullets
This is thing is amazing
It makes mincemeat of ferals
That's a good pistol
The character was shit, but that gun was fun
Bethesda is pretty hit and miss with level-scaling
prior to survival mode, I had a mod installed to up the damage that me and all enemies take
Twitch (I stream most days of the week)
Twitter (mean leftist discourse)

Careful you don't shoot at things close to quest giver NPCs! The splash damage will turn them aggro and fail quests
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
