I'd like to see both Andy and Sami make it in as Advance Wars reps. Sami could essentially inherit Snakes old moveset, while Andy's moveset could involve all of the Infantry, Tank, Ship and Plane units into he special attacks. Andy's regular moveset would be smacking people with his giant wrenches.
I would like to see Sami and Isaac (he's not even an assist trophy anymore. WTF?), and maybe something from Panel De Pon.
Pie-in-the-sky wish is for various clone characters to be reinvented. Give Ganondorf skills based on Hyrule Warriors. Make a version of Dark Pit who uses staffs, clubs, palms, and cannons. Etc.

real talk though, i'd rather them just make a new smash game (without Sakurai this time). Smash 4 has a lot of good stuff going for it, but unless they plan on seriously sitting down and balancing it, and doing shit to it that makes some sense, i'll constantly have my love-hate relationship with the game. I'm not asking for a Melee clone, but some small changes that help the competitive aspect of Smash 4 could go a LONG way.
I'd just love an online ranking system, local tournament support, and better online tournament features - mainly the ability to setup "regular" 1v1 style tournaments with dual or single elimination rules. Other than that I love how smash 4 plays and the game is very young. There is much life left in it's mechanics IMO.

There's not a lot seriously wrong with the game that warrants a sequel at this point, and not many real oversights in the character roster either. I think it can easily last another generation with a few additions/improvements and some more DLC.
They're going to do a Switch re-release because the Wii U sold so poorly and had such a short lifespan that they can make some decent money porting over the console's pretty solid library. Even Melee has outsold Smash 4 nearly 2:1, and Brawl is at some absurd figure like three times the sales.
If the Switch is backwards compatible, and it allows transferring of eShop versions, then I'm done. Otherwise they can go fuck themselves, because I'm not being punished for being one of the few people who supported their failure of a system.

Only if you ignore sales of the 3DS version. If you combine the sales of both versions, Smash 4 has sold on par with Brawl.
That said, porting it to Switch would definitely be a smart move.

Shovel Knight or bust.
Simon/Trevor from Castlevania is also acceptable but Ha! Konami.

I wouldn't bet against that list. (Well, maybe the last one. :P ) Splatoon is huge, fans miss Ice Climbers, and it wouldn't shock me if we got another Pokemon. Plus they were already working on a Rhythm Heaven character; maybe they had time to complete him?
Hopefully we'll get Wolf back. I'm pulling for Shovel Knight too - he's still the only non-Smash third-party Amiibo.
It's not out of the realm of possibility that Konagi would let Simon Belmont happen, but yeah, given Snake only happened because Sakurai and Kojima were friends, I seriously doubt he'll come back.
Pie-in-the-sky wish is for various clone characters to be reinvented. Give Ganondorf skills based on Hyrule Warriors. Make a version of Dark Pit who uses staffs, clubs, palms, and cannons. Etc.
I was just thinking of that. Give Ganondorf some sword moves based on his Hyrule Warriors incarnation, and give his old moveset to a guy who would make a perfect clone of Falcon...
Anyway, my dream list for Smash 4 Switch newcomers...
Ice Climbers (or just Ice Climber. One might be more feasible for online play)
Wolf
Inkling
Sami
Shovel Knight
Linkle
King K.Rool
And what the hell.... Ridley. It's been years now, lets just shrink him down to Charizard size and make him playable.

The Wii U version is its own game with its own development costs. Getting more profit by cheaply porting it to the Switch seems like a good idea.

I really don't think Switch is getting a cheap port of the Wii U version. Knowing Sakurai, it's going to be an enhanced port. I can already picture the trailer starting like the one for Wii U/3DS, except then the versions merge into one and holy crap guys this one's got all the levels!!!

I don't entirely follow. Either you're done, or they can go fuck themselves? Sounds like Nintendo has no out.

By "cheap" I mean "significantly cheaper than making a new game from scratch."
An enhanced port is still going to be cheaper than what Smash 4 cost to develop.
The quality and size of the roster in Smash 4 (especially if you factor in the DLC characters) is just ridiculous. A "proper" sequel starting from scratch is gonna have a really hard time following it up.

I thought by cheap port, you meant just slapping it on the Switch and calling it a day.
1: find some way to retain the guest characters. I adore playing as Bayonetta.
2: give the DLC characters special move variants.
3: allow the easy unlocking of all special move variants. There are some I've never even used, and the prohibitive amount of time it takes to unlock them killed the possibility of them taking hold in comp.
4: variant of Omega Mode that turns all stages into Battlefield instead of FD.
5: variant of Omega Mode that keeps the stage the same shape, but removes active hazards.

#4 would certainly be nice, but wouldn't really be a big deal and thus isn't something I expect them to do. All of the others are things that I might be disappointed if they aren't included. Custom moves would probably need more than just unlocking for people to take another look at them, though; there are some rather huge balance problems with a bunch of them.
As for stages, they are one of the biggest problems with the current competitive scene, and it would be really nice if we could remove hazards and potentially open up a few more stages. I'm also hoping they merge the stage selection with the 3DS version. Yoshi's Island Brawl would be awesome to have back, and I remember thinking that Prism Tower was a lot better than the other shifting stages, at least.
Given how long Smash Switch has been in the works (the job ads hit before Smash 4 if I remember right) I seriously, seriously doubt keeping the guest characters will be a problem. More than likely the deals for the guest characters covered Smash Switch as well. Hell, the last batch of guest character Amibos have (almost certainly) been held back specifically for Smash Switch.

Remember back in the day when going through every singleplayer mode with every character was actually viable?
My thought on unbalanced custom moves is this: I'd rather the community ban one of a character's moves than for then to ban eight of their moves in order to ban that same one.

Let me cheat the unlocks, or grind them, or something. Like, I can't beat the single player mode past 6 difficulty with the characters I'm good with, there's no way I'm unlocking all those little squares.

I've wanted a Battlefield version of Omega mode since before the game was released. This is a good list.
6. All the current DLC characters and stages included in the base game. I paid as much as I did for the 3DS version of the game to buy all that DLC; I really don't want to buy it again on top of the cost of the Switch version of the game. Alternatively, having preexisting 3DS/WiiU DLC purchases on an account unlock their respective content in the Switch version is also acceptable.

Even though I own both Smash 4 Wii U and Smash 4 3DS... if Smash 4 Switch just combines the content of those two versions, I will buy it. Because I am a ho.
i'll buy it no matter what it is~
I bought a pstv version of a pc platformer I was very familiar with but I was failing practically everything requiring timing, come to find out that when my power goes out the tv switches to factory settings, which include a very high input lag display mode - and I had changed it only once, when I bought the set
So I am extremely full of salt and johns about having played all my matches online under a status effect

I assure you that I completely agree. It just doesn't seem like anyone is willing to even look at them when things like Pikachu's infinite or DK's insane windboxes exist, and the thought of having some kind of closed community decide which moves get banned is pretty concerning.

Assuming this is true, being outside the launch window makes it highly likely there will be all kinds of new crap.
