They could easily make, like, seven entirely different Links by pulling from his various moves and items across his games. Same goes for Mario, really.

Like, look at what they did in Hyrule Warriors, with Sword Link, Sword Link + Horse, Fire Rod Link, Ball+Chain Link, Great Fairy laughing at Link while she kills everything...
Speaking of Hyrule Warriors, I suppose my greatest desire for this, if it's more than a port, would be for Ganondorf to be reimagined based on Hyrule Warriors. He's got so much cool stuff in that game.
It is a stage only of announcing the title now, and it is muted and it works on the production every day. Please wait until it is possible to release the content or to be released!!
Honestly if it was a new game they would have done a full-on trailer instead of a what is basically a character announcement.
Even Mega Man was announced AFTER the main announcement trailer for Smash 4.
OTOH, a full on trailer might've stolen the thunder from the Big Splatoon Stuff that just happened. Or perhaps they just wanted to make the trailer Splatoon themed to continue the theme they had going towards the end of the Direct.
I don't think we yet have enough info to say one way or another; precedent could be upset for any number of reasons.
If it is a remake, I really hope they make it way easier to unlock custom moves. And make them available for randoms in online play. I feel like it was a good idea that had too many factors working against it.

Other than that, I got nothing.
I think the spin attack is way too iconic to be replaced. Maybe BotW will be a whole new character (or just a costume).
Similarly, while I'd love for his Final Smash to be Urbosa's Fury, it's prolly gonna be the Triforce Slash again.
Maybe we'll get Sheikah Slate bombs, though?
