ODB really should eat a suspension for some of the things he's been doing. Like, yeah he's an intense guy and football is an emotional sport and all that, but the dude needs to control himself. He's just taking things to a level I'm not ok with. And as competitive as he is, being made to sit out a week or two would probably be just the kick in the ass he needs.
It's kind of moot at this point in the season, of course. I doubt anyone's getting handed a suspension this late in the year for anything short of an actual stabbing on the field or something.

They both should be suspended but I think at halftime the NBC guys had a good point when they criticized the refs for failing to flag them early which allowed them to escalate things.
With the Dolphins out of the playoffs as of last week, I was hoping they'd at least get a .500 season. The Chargers had different plans, obviously, beating them pretty handily.
Last two games are Indy and NE, both at home, so 8-8 was probably a pipe dream anyway. Go Fins!

Apparently on the first play Norman suplexed Beckham and he never got over it. At least that's what I've read now. Not that it excuses what he did but that's what I've read happened.
Sadly I did not see anything but the "highlights" but the thing receivers need to understand is that Josh Norman has been in Charlotte since 2012, meaning he's had...a few practice sessions covering Steve Smith Sr.
Dude probably learned to talk shit from the best in the league. I can remember games where the color guys would spend the pre-game period talking about the other team's corner and what their coach likely said to them about not letting Steve Smith get into your head. Norman probably learned that and now we're seeing the reverse, and with a younger WR like OBJ, that shit is gonna start shit. Especially since Norman likes to get physical as well.
Mostly I'm just glad nobody got hurt, annoyed the refs didn't do anything, and disgusted that the color guys were basically talking about how fun it was watching them basically try to hurt each other.

The last time I remember seeing anything remotely like that it was Cortland Finnegan and Andre Johnson and the two of them were tossed from the game immediately. Johnson at the time was the best receiver in the NFL and he still got tossed so I don't know what the hell the refs were thinking just watching them go at it most of the game.

It wasn't unprovoked. They were already at each other's throats at that point.

I really think that whole situation was more an indication of what is wrong with NFL officiating. That should have been handled from the very first incident. The second Norman body slammed Beckham throw a flag. Then when Beckham retaliated throw a flag. Nothing calms guys down faster than 15 yard penalties.

Well, except coaches...
That's a tricky situation. Coughlin is on the hot seat. Does he bench his star player and basically damn his team to lose and in the process hurt his job prospects next year?

No I was making a joke. 15 yard penalties may get the player to calm down, but the coach is more likely to lose his mind. Especially Rivera.
Coughlin's always angry. Probably looking out on the field and just thinking "damn kids...my lawn...etc"

I don't know how Coughlin is getting the blame for this at all. A coach can only be expected bench a player that's acting out when his conduct is directly detrimental to the team and considering that he doesn't have the same view everyone watching him at home does and the refs weren't even flagging him I don't blame him for keeping Beckham in. The officials are supposed to enforce the rules to maintain order on the field. That is their job, not Coughlin's
I don't blame Coughlin for not pulling him but honestly I hope they just both get fined because (again I haven't seen it) I don't think either player took action that, in context, is worthy of suspension absent an ejection.
e: Again I didn't see it, but did OBJ get moved around much? Or did he always line up in the same spot? Because if he was getting beat to the point of getting emotional, then Coughlin should have moved him around (if he didn't). I don't know if OBJ does the slot much, but I don't think Norman lines up against the slot hardly ever. So I'll blame Coughlin for not moving OBJ around, but only because that could have given him a chance to cool off and maybe get some catches.
Of course if Rivera had Norman cover him anyway then that's all moot.

The officiating crew should be suspended as well.

of note: 'innegan is now a Panther
Also, Scurfier Schefter reports a suspension is likely. I'm betting an appeal will push that to week 17.
Apparently he PREFERS OBJ.
I just say ODB because I've always said ODB

I think he just got frustrated and let his emotions get the better of him which took him out of the game.
Once he got his head back in the game he started beating Norman again.
