I don't know which team member is mostly responsible for the Crystal Mines area in Grimrock 2
but I want to sit down with them and ask them many questions
forcibly
On the topic of dumb dev decisions, I want to find the dev that decided, " Hmm Pvz1 , had heal on hotkey 1 and grenade on hotkey 3 for the scientist, I should switch those for NO REASON for pvz2 so that Wisemantobes constantly fucks that shit up"
I got railroad tycoon 2 off gog the other day, and realized that a) that was a surprisingly deep simulation for being almost 20 years old, b) I was a gargantuan nerd when I was 7, and c) I really want a modern game where you get to play a 19th century robber baron, buying senators, hiring goons to break strikes, and strong-arming your competition out of the market to get a monopoly, letting you vertically integrate your businesses so you own the entire process from mining the iron to building the tenement that isn't up to fire code.
I'm still a gargantuan nerd, aren't I?
My friend is working on a roguelike game you can play if you want to. (It has free demo)
I have a special place in my heart for Rebel Assault 2. It's not a great game, may not even be a good game, but it had a bunch of FMV that made it like a little mini-Star Wars movie with a neat little side-story.
+2

Alien troops have entered the the base! Alien troops have entered the <*kzzzrrshk*>
The alien counter-strike has come right at the heart of XCOM operations, and it's all available boots on the ground. Sometimes more than boots, but a few of the soldiers were off-duty and forgot to pull on armor today. But hey, at least @Metalbourne is wearingpants today.
Bought Hyper Light Drifter. Gameplay-wise, it's similar to Bastion. HLD's team has done something different to present the story, but an hour in I have learned more from the blurb on the store page than I have from the game. As for the music, I was hoping it would be more like what plays during the trailer...but it's more like retro synth a la Super Time Force Ultra, at least during the first hour in the two zones I explored.
It's okay, but it doesn't have its hooks in me yet. It's an exciting little hack and slash for 18 bucks though.

Yeah, I have to say...I don't mind games that just throw you into the world and let you start exploring, but the game has given me basically no context or clue as to what I'm doing or why I'm doing it. I'm fine with minimal storytelling, but giving me some clue as to why I should be doing anything in this world would be nice. Let alone collecting pieces of things whose importance is only confusingly hinted at.
Still, the gameplay feels okay and the style is enough to keep me going for now. But I sure hope it goes somewhere at some point.
You need to own BG:EE to enter the DLC contest, @WiseManTobes. As an imperfect workaround, the giveaway for the two copies of BG:EE ($5 right now) ends half an hour before the DLC giveaway.
It took like an hour of reading but now I actually have a clue what the heck I am doing in King of Dragon Pass.
It's really weird these days, playing a game and actually having to read the manual to understand it. Guess it really shows this game was made in the 90s.

Once it got past the bethesda logo and I could actually play.
DOOM seems okay.

Gotta say im kinda surprised of the lack of talk regarding Hyper Light Drifter on here. I was expecting more talk about it in general based on the kickstarter. Still want to try it out though.

If the trailers are any indication I'm at the very least buying the soundtrack.

More folks seem to be talking about it in the indie thread.
there's a 40% discount on the steam controller if you buy it in a bundle with a preorder of dark souls 3
I'm tempted, I need a PC controller and that makes it cheaper than a 360 or xbone pad

Rogue Squardon on N64 was my jam, back in the day. I still remember the code for that extra ship: Halifax Yngwe
I'm still a gargantuan nerd, aren't I?
Fuck you.
Fuck you.
Fuck you.
Fuck you all of you.
Fuck St. Johns.
...And nothing of value was lost.
Promotions for @Metalbourne, @Sorce, and @JoeUser, while @Blake T got his feet wet and might one day become a real boy.

Base security personnel get into the mix too, throwing down against flying metal death machines, big stompy mechbots and ... what the fuck is that green mutant ape thing?
@Sorce turns up for some of that big stompy mechbot action, and @Platypus Beirut arrives in time to chip in with a few key pinpoint shots.
But its backs against the wall, and @msuitepyon and figures there's a high tolerance for collateral damage in the Mission Control area, shortly before eating a direct blast from Mechtoid Plasma cannon.
Fortunately @Der Waffle Mous is on hand to salvage the situation and pick off one of the incursion commanders with a well placed shot.
This triggers a final desperate rush from the remaining intruders, who are met with everything we can throw at them. It's @Metalbourne who gets the final killshot, but this one was really a team effort. Good work, team.

It seems like I have to send a message to Humble?
I swear every time I backed a game on Kickstarter there has been some sort of problem
did you not get a reward survey from backerkit? I think in one of their emails they said a few people have been having issues getting emails and said to contact them via https://hyper-light-drifter.backerkit.com/faq#contact-us and add [email protected] to your contacts list in email
Just no key for me
ooooohhhhh new interface. how is it?
Didn't get the biggest look at it, but the journal seems easier to look through what quests you have active, I found the old one could be a mess
Maybe because I haven't touched it months, I like the changes
Going to maybe stay up to try it out.
I won't really get time to dig into the game for realsies until later tonight however
you can see the seams in the engine from miles away
well shit I wasn't expecting Siege of Dragonspear being released that soon!
And if you don't have BG: EE on Steam, its on sale for 5 dollars too!
Got some giveaways going if folks are interested:

Like, it's a weird thing, 'cause I don't ever really want to go back to Baldur's Gate again (or at least not anytime soon)
But like
It's pretty much my favorite game of all time?
Not getting it seems foolish
I'm in Adventure Team and it's not working?
