The visuals in the game kept jumping around from awesome to kind of shitty, but this video posted last night is just fucking incredible. The game is done, by the way, and is supposed to go gold next week then come out some time in mid to late May.

You can find the video streaming and for download at both these links, I recommend downloading the high res version.

Replays are at 30fps, and the game runs at 60 during gameplay, so when you're playing it will look even better than this.

And here's some new screens, spoiler'd for h-scroll and 56k.

Is the original forza like Gran Turismo? Like a super sim? I don't really like those sort of racing games, but all the customization that I saw from that game was a huge draw, as well as the online community.

Yeah, it's a sim. Whether or not it's more realistic than GT depends on who you ask though.

Yep. And the distinct advantage that Forza has over GT is exactly the LEVEL of customization available in the game. you can pretty much tune, customize, and upgrade every single car to the extreme limits of what would be possible in real life, give them custom paintjobs, etc. etc. etc.

Also: good AI, damage on cars, and Ferraris and Porsches and Lamborghinis.

Edit - Just want to say for the record I don't think Forza 1 was as good as the GT series, but it did some things better and gave me hope that sequels could be amazing.

I didn't play too much of GT4, to be honest.. though I played quite a bit of GT3.. but I definitely felt that Forza was the better of the two. Things just felt "right". In GT, cars just feel too much like these static objects, like magnetic bricks or something to the road.

i much preferred the opponents in Forza. I know some people complain about them being overly aggressive (maybe so), but at least they actually acknowledged you were on the track. GT, as everyone seems to note, they just cruise round and don't deviate unless you slam into them, or for whatever reason their setup fails on a corner. The number of times i'd come round to find someone doing doughnuts in the a gravel trap.. chump.

Forza, they'd at least race you.

edit: and Forza 2, looks pretty hot. As do the brake disks. Although to me, the cars still don't look like they sit on the road properly:(

I suppose that least these games have AI... as noted.

I just wonder if that's enough to make me want to go around the track around the track around the track.
I mean, the graphics in that video weren't really better than GT4 and graphics aren't even enough to make me want another one of these.

I hear there's car damage... that could at least add some more thought to the gameplay.
