With the talk about Phantasy Star in the video game music thread I got that serious longing to play that game again
Your mentioning this made me look up the final boss theme of Phantasy Star IV.
Apparently there is a techno-orchestral remix of that theme for a late-game superboss in Phantasy Star Online 2.
I am now increasingly miserable that that game never got a legitimate English version.
EDIT: And, comically, the thing that set off the conversation in the Video Game Music thread was the same Youtube video that I independently discovered after thinking I wanted to hear the final boss theme of Phantasy Star IV. :V

I played them as 3 1 2 then got 4
I was mad that sega made a collection of them for the Saturn only in Japanese at the time I did not know
I just remember getting beyond mad at Fatal rewind for some of the BS deaths I had to endure
I did not even know what a roguelike was until recently I just remember walking around the maze trying to wear off food and make the monsters get stuck against a wall more than anything
I'm excited for Sonic Forces and will play it if it reviews even a little bit positively. That fucking Legion of Doom bad guy lineup this game has going for it and that bullshit new big bad design sold me on the spot.
actually the Kirby-ass boss that Classic Sonic fights is what sold me on it but whatever

The only eyebrow raising thing is the mention of Chemical Plant. I'm all for reappearances of classic stages but this is essentially Generations 2, they've had years to create it and it seems like a waste to feature that stage again when there's plenty other Sonic 2 stages to show off. Why not Oil Ocean if they need an industrial place?
The only thing I really need for Forces is a voice volume slider because jesus god shut up
It's like Kid Icarus Uprising in there
We can only hope; at least that wasn't as repetitive as "It's a homing attack! It's a homing attack! It's a homing attIt's aIt's aIt's aIt's a homing attack!"
As for Silver, always wanted to see him get his own game, like the Mega Man X to Sonic's Mega Man... though I guess in some ways, Modern Sonic already is the Mega Man X to Classic Sonic's Mega Man Classic.

Marble Zone's fine, it's not Labyrinth Zone. Fuck Labyrinth Zone.
But Fatal Labyrinth was a fun grind of a rpg maze explore

sonic forces is going to be really dumb but at least the gameplay looks like it is indeed basically sonic generations 2, which I'm fine with
mania keeps looking better and better the more I see of it, though
It was just me, this is very rude tdot

you're far from the only person I've seen express hatred for marble zone
Nope, we're feuding now. I've already thrown out all of my clocks.

My, how time flies
Waddle faster little buddy!
We have a section like that here in town, but it also has "Turtle Crossing" signs heh
Hey, uh
sonic forces looks alright
It's like Kid Icarus Uprising in there
But
KIU's voice levels were good!!!
So, good and funny voices?
That gameplay looks really unexciting to me.
Also yeah the pal chatter rate was way too much. And I kind of hate that Silver is a character who is not consigned to the abyss.
Even though he makes no sense outside of his game. What, did the Supreme Kai of Time take him outside of the timeline?
I liked his boss fight in Generations.
Maybe they don't want to acknowledge that nothing of value came from Sonic 2006?
well, uh
the crisis city levels in generations were pretty good?
Sonic was already supposed to be a hedgehog with 'tude
At some point it's like that 'tude wasn't strong enough, so they had to keep upping the ante in really dumb ways
Big the Cat may be a piece of shit, but at least he's his own piece of shit
Silver and Shadow are just fucking Sonic+ and Sonic++
It really seems like the terrible level design just cannot be removed even with a Generations remake.
