So this is the price we paid for a good looking Sonic huh?
I like this better then the other song.
And hey look guys, a new Charlie's Angles with a theme song, 2 songs for the new Birds of Prey/Harley Quinn movie, and now this? The 90's are alive again. Go ninja go ninja go.
A new Space Channel 5 game! YAAAAAAAAAAAAY
But it's VR only! Noooooooooo
(Trailer only mentions PlayStation but it's confirmed to also be coming to Steam, Viveport, and the Oculus store)

What did they do to Ulala's voice.
And no Mizuguchi, no sale.
Why does Hideki Naganuma have Peter Griffin for a Twitter avatar?
Family guy is weirdly popular in Japan. Its called Famigy by fans and Stewie is the face of Pocari sweat
But, like, 66% of the humor in that show is weird 80's pop culture references. How would that even work in Japan? I sort of doubt Facts of Life was syndicated there.
it looks like that might actually be the first part a series intended to capitalize on the movie, as that same publication just released an article by Noted Shitposting Twitter Furry(tm) Colin Spacetwinks about the series' connection to... Christianty
It sure is a fine movie to take a kid to that has no outstanding merits for the better or worse.
I will say that Sonic animated a little stiffly at times, which I'm guessing is a result of the makeover. Not as in bad animation, but in that you'd expect him to move in a bit more of a cartoonish manner than he does.
I think Robotnik was better written than performed, but that's not saying much. Carrey just did a bit too much of... well being Jim Carrey, so I can't really blame him. I think if he was played a bit straighter while keeping the dialogue of constantly trying to be the smartest one in the room it would have played funnier.
I will surely forget most of this movie within the month.

It's basically like the Smurfs movie minus the celeb-of-the-minute cameos, right? Like, that premise is what a writer comes up with when they have no real interest in the property the film is being adapted from, so they try to make it about something else and just cross over the licensed character(s).
I'm sure it will make a lot of money, and be a decent enough time-waster, but I just don't get why in the post-LoTRO/Marvel/Bayformers era studios are still doing this kind of movie and not trying to swing for the fences by actually embracing the properties they are optioning for movies.

I never saw Smurfs, but I'll use Rocky and Bullwinkle as a stand in. Basically, a short list of characteristics about the character but "In OUR world!" But nothing is really interesting about it. He just kind of exists after the event that brings him to Earth, waiting until the movie happens.
Sonic is more of a constantly rambling low attention span character than the "cool guy" that I would more recognize him as. Like a bad take on Quicksilver from Days of Future Past. Saying they made Sonic less edgy feels like a weird ass statement, but it's the vibe I got?
And if anyone wants to get just straight up in arms over a silly detail:
Super Sonic is basically him caring too much, negatively or positively, and he does not resemble a Super Saiyan.
My knowledge of Sonic is kind of vague, so forgive me if I misrepresent or misunderstand something.

Sounds about like I expected. And yeah, Rocky & Bullwinkle's live action film is another strong example of the style. A clear case of a lack of ambition or vision on the part of the studio. I'm not even saying adaptations need to be great, lord knows the Transformers movies weren't, but they were Transformers movies, not a film that happened to have Optimus Prime and Megatron appearing in it. That's the part I don't get. When you run with it, even bad adaptations can spawn five sequels (and counting!). I just find it bizarre when studios option a multi-decade cash cow IP, and then decide to greenlight an inaugural production that is as far-removed from the IP as they can get it. Like, shit is crazy.

It has to be a bidding thing but even then Jack in the box is super regional so its an odd choice
They're doing a tie in with Jack in the Box? Haven't seen a peep of it.

Google also seems to imply theyve done promos with Sonic since the dreamcast days
