It’s a very odd statement. They admit some degree of fault and that it’s likely to burn some bridges, but also don’t give any details on what bugs are caused by integration or what they tried to fix, so it accomplishes all the bridge burning with very little of the name clearing.
Thought I'd seen somewhere that they offered to try to fix it, but haven't heard back yet. Might have been what prompted it, in addition to trying to keep their name clear.

I certainly bounced off it but I think it's still quietly rolling along releasing content, milking its small die-hard community with fashion gacha MTX same as old PSO2 did.

Yeah PSO2 is full on gacha hell so they don't need a particularly large audience to make enough money to be worth keeping active.
I didn't find the gameplay of NG very interesting, but the fact they were like a year in and still hadn't added new CAST body parts was what really killed my interest.
I want to get back to it, but the way you have to level up to progress the story... well, I ended up finding other things I'd rather be doing than trying to micromanage that.
I'm probably doing something wrong, though. I'm like, on the cusp of the next level or whatever it's called I need, battle power or whatever, but I just haven't bothered. Which is a shame, since it had a strong start for me.
Yet I still check in daily...

I love PSO, I love it so much and PSO2 and PSO2: NG is not... good.
They added KMMO style quests which do almost nothing and you gotta be sure to take every one available for whatever mission you're doing BEFORE you start the mission EVERY TIME, EVERY SINGLE TIME. Oh and uh, 99% of the gear you find is trash, even the "good stuff". And none of these "quests" give you a whole lot but if you don't do them you're missing on them. This was in PSO2 though not uh, PSO2 New Genesis which I've only heard bad things about, gatchawise anyways. None of my old guild-mates are even playing NG, they're back on the same shit in PSO2.
That and uh, the new Sonic Frontiers game looks like it takes place in PSO2:NG, which isn't a compliment.

Quite fond of Mega Drive sounding remixes of the Sonic 4 soundtrack. While they're all quite repetitive, the compositions ain't terrible, it's just the chosen synths are dogshit. Which is why it's so frustrating Jun Senoue whipped em back out for the Origins remaster of the prototype tracks...
Is this the place to talk about Sonic fan games?
Because someone made a 'Triple Trouble 16-bit' game that's honestly pretty damn good.
Nobody remembers the singer. The song remains.

Yeah, the Triple Trouble remake is pretty damn impressive, especially if you compare it with the Game Gear original. I'm not surprised by its quality though, because Sonic fans are 100% maniacs, and they put out wild shit on the reg.
The one thing you can give Sega credit for is that they're not litigious killjoys (unlike a certain other company) so this stuff can thrive and lead to stuff like Mania. Good play considering, you know, the stuff Sonic Team puts out.

To be fair to the game, it was the bad future.
That's the kinda statement you make if you're confident Sega won't hire you again, right? :<

PSO2 New Genesis is finally hitting PlayStation on August 31st
Well it's not PSO1 to start.

but I digress, check out this fuckin' tune:
...alright, that's cheating, it's mostly a Sonic CD remix. I looooove the samples yoinked from the Sonic 3 Miniboss tho.
Sonic 4's Death Egg Robot:
This one skews a bit too Modern sounding, but it's pretty nice IMO:
This one really splits the difference between Classic n' Modern tho:
just don't look, just don't look
