I collected that comic as a kid, thought it was super great. My newsagent did not get #17 in. I never got to read it. I had a complete collection up until like 100 or something and #17 was my white whale
I'm wracking my brain for a match of "Sega" and "rational, conservative decision" and you can guess how many hits that's getting.
The Game Gear might come closest?

The Game Gear tried to be the cutting edge equivalent to the Game Boy and not only did it sacrifice usability to get there, it didn't even do well (the games I've played on it had more slowdown issues than any other system I've used)

I think it depends on when and where you look. SEGA could have had the PlayStation and/or the Nintendo 64 tech instead of the Saturn, but SEGA of Japan said no.
Like Mega Man Legends? Then check out my story, Legends of the Halcyon Era - An Adventure in the World of Mega Man Legends on TMMN and AO3!
So this dude 2mello, known for a few video game themed mashup albums, did his own original album of JSR/F-styled early '00s funky/breakbeat/big bass music and it is very very good
it is uncanny to the point where apparently some streamers (wanna say it was Best Friends) used it as backing music and it got a few people in the chat thinking they just hadn't gotten that far in JSR
Yakuza 6, Yakuza Kiwami 2, more backwards compatible games on Xbox One, Genesis Collection, Ages on Switch, Shenmue 1 & 2, Sonic Mania Plus, a new Sonic Racing game, a possibly improved Genesis mini, a new Sonic comic, Sakura Wars (I'll take your word for it)... it's a good time to be a SEGA fan.

Theoretically. Someone besides the scalpers would have to own one to actually confirm that.
The SNES Mini is just in stock pretty much all the time now.
It's currently sold out everywhere, unless you want to pay $110 or so...?
The NES Classic is $200.
Yeah, last time I saw the SNES mini in stock it was because some reseller has bought up a whole bunch of them and was selling them for thirty dollars over the retail price
It wasn't the hugest markup but I promised I wouldn't pay more than the actual real price so I still don't have one

Amazon just had it in stock 2-3 days ago at the retail price. Briefly.
People have said they see it in their local B&M stores (GameStop/Walmart) all the time. Luck of the draw, I guess.
NES Classic is supposed to have an official rerelease this summer.

The game gear used 8 batteries and had like, 2 hours of battery life.

That's kind of my point. Closest.
That's really the thing -- you can't paint a blanket portrayal of SEGA, because doing so is going to do injustice to some other part.

Some boring stuff like an actual Genesis Mini.
Sega Ages coming to Nintendo Switch this summer. Snoresville.
Something about Shenmue I & II for PS4, XBox One, and Steam. Whatever.
But that's not what's important. What's important is A NEW FUCKING SAKURA WARS!

The funny thing is that Sega has been licensing out mini- genesises for years and years now.

The difference being that Nintendo's version is actually good.
I completely forget what kind of game it even was

Still no Skies HD, goddammit.

I just wish there were Switch versions.
And in Japanese too.
Try some Lucky Hit.

I just hope that they'll make it so we can carry over our progress to Shenmue 3.
